Background / History
The Primordial World was created when Pangu split the Chaos, separating clear and turbid qi and establishing heaven and earth. His creation left behind the world’s foundational landmarks, bloodlines, inheritances, and fragments of the shattered Creation Jade Disc. 2 13
According to the memories and warnings left by Pangu’s remnant, the world’s intended impartial Heavenly Dao was never completed. Hongjun’s betrayal shattered the Creation Jade Disc during its formation, allowing corrupt black qi from an external passage to pollute the newborn Heavenly Dao. The resulting Heavenly Dao uses tribulations to harvest the essence blood and Primordial Spirits of living beings. 12 13 14
At the beginning of the recorded era, the Primordial World is already divided among powerful cultivators and races. The Witch Clan controls the lands around Buzhou Mountain, while Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Tai Yi gather demons into a Heavenly Court and later the Ten Thousand Demon Alliance. Their conflict marks the opening of the Witch-Demon Calamity. 1 20 107
The world’s spiritual order changes fundamentally after Houtu establishes the Six Paths of Reincarnation. The Netherworld gains ordered hell realms, Fengdu City, and an Earthly Dao capable of governing the dead instead of allowing souls to become wandering ghosts and vengeful spirits. 143 153 154
Su Ming later proclaims the Divine Court atop the Thirty-three Heavens, declaring its purpose to protect the world’s living beings and establish order across heaven and earth. 180
