Background

Primordial Lord of Heaven is the second of the Three Pure Ones and a Heavenly Dao Sage who presides over the Heavenly Origin Sect. He maintains Jade Void Palace in the Jade Clarity Realm and normally remains in Chaos, where he can perceive phenomena throughout the Primordial World without personally descending into it. 390 1110

He places exceptional importance on innate talent, origin, and foundation. He refuses disciples of mediocre aptitude or shallow foundations and openly disdains many members of Sect Master Tongtian's Interception Sect for their humble or nonhuman origins. This belief became a central source of conflict between the two brothers. 4 114 147

Although a Sage, he recognizes that Heavenly Dao Sages are constrained by the Heavenly Dao and struggle to progress further. The rise of Su Yang, Sect Master Tongtian, and several outside-domain powerhouses forces him to confront the limits of his former authority. 432

Appearance

Primordial Lord of Heaven is depicted as an austere Daoist with snow-white hair and beard, phoenix eyes, and flowing robes. When his true body descends, his bearing remains composed and refined even while projecting overwhelming Sage pressure. 1016

  • White hair and beard likened to snow. 1016
  • Sharp phoenix eyes that flash with cold light when angered. 1016 1050
  • Often carries the Three Treasures Jade Ruyi. 1016 1017
  • His arrival is commonly accompanied by auspicious clouds, golden lotuses, jade light, and celestial fragrance. 1016 1049

Personality

Primordial Lord of Heaven is proud, exacting, and deeply concerned with hierarchy. He expects respect for seniority and proper order, reacting with particular fury when Sect Master Tongtian mocks him or challenges his authority. 1049 1050

His standards for disciples are severe. He considers mixed foundations, uncontrolled desires, and karmic entanglements threats to the reputation and fortune of the Mystic Gate. 1049 1050

Despite his harsh manner, he is not indifferent to the Primordial World's survival. His sharp words toward Su Yang stem partly from an urgent desire for Su Yang to intervene against threats to all living beings. 476

He shows consistent deference to Laozi as his eldest brother, accepting Laozi's mediation during disputes among the Three Pure Ones. 909 1051 1110
