Origin and Nature
Great God Pangu opened the Primordial World by splitting Chaos with the Chaos Heaven-Opening Axe. He fought the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods during creation and ultimately sacrificed himself; his body transformed into the world’s sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, plants, and other foundations of existence. 308
The world’s accepted origin is therefore inseparable from Pangu and his remains. Some accounts further state that Pangu was nurtured within the Thirty-Six-Ranked Chaos Green Lotus. 392
Su Yang later presents a far more unsettling possibility: the Primordial World may be connected to the Mythical Primordial World, perhaps formed from the residual effects of a Mythical Grand Unity’s actions rather than being wholly independent. This claim causes the world’s great powers to question whether even Pangu’s creation was part of a higher design. 392 394
Cosmic Order
Heavenly Dao and Earthly Dao
The Heavenly Dao governs the world’s order, fate, calamities, and the limits imposed on cultivators. Great upheavals arise when malevolent energy accumulates enough to provoke heavenly calamities. 378
- The Heavenly Dao is believed by Shen Ni to be the residual will of Pangu rather than an unintelligent collection of rules. 375
- The Earthly Dao governs reincarnation and is associated with Empress Houtu, the former ruler of the Six Paths of Reincarnation. Its status is described as capable of contending with the Heavenly Dao. 643
- Heavenly tribulations can temper cultivators, punish those lacking merit, and arise when the balance of spiritual energy is disrupted. 1136
Major Domains
- Earthly Immortal Realm — The principal terrestrial realm. After the primordial wilderness collapsed, surviving land fragments were refined into islands across its vast seas. 1055
- Heavenly Court — A celestial authority governing heavenly affairs and appointing officials. 47 1041
- Netherworld — The realm connected to reincarnation and the Ten Kings of Hell. 307
- Chaos — The boundless exterior beyond the world, birthplace of the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods and source of repeated existential threats. 47 1187
- Outer Heaven Chaos — A dangerous region outside the world where beings such as Shen Ni can attempt to trap foreign experts. 376
History
In the earliest known age, fierce beasts ravaged the newborn world and pushed all living beings toward collapse. Shen Ni, the Fierce Beast Emperor, led the Fierce Beast Clan during this era and was regarded as one of the most ancient beings to originate from the Primordial World. 307 375
Afterward, the Dragon, Phoenix, and Kirin Clans rose to rule the waters, skies, and lands respectively, inaugurating the era of tri-clan governance. Their struggle for supremacy became the Dragon-Phoenix Calamity, one of the ancient disasters that stained the world with blood and devastated its spiritual foundations. 375 829
The Witch Clan and Demon Race later became the dominant powers. Their war culminated in the collapse of Buzhou Mountain and the end of the Primordial Era, while the Human Race rose into prominence amid the world’s upheaval. 1170
The Investiture of the Gods Calamity drew gods, demons, and even Sages into conflict. Battles between Sages nearly shattered the Primordial land, and the later clash surrounding the Zhu Xian Sword Formation caused immortal energy to leak away and forced the development of lower-level mortal cultivation paths. 3 611
Although the ancient wilderness was broken apart and reduced to the Earthly Immortal Realm, the lost Primordial land was eventually restored. Its mountains, rivers, spiritual energy, and land veins returned, though the heavenly pillars had not yet fully resumed their former positions. 1198 1199

Spiritual Energy and Cultivation
The Primordial World is exceptionally rich in spiritual and immortal energy. Its atmosphere can cleanse marrow, strengthen bones, and prolong lifespan, making resources considered precious in poorer worlds comparatively less valuable here. 200
At its height, the world did not possess a formal four-stage Mortal Realm system. Many beings took form already possessing Immortal cultivation, and some were said to be born at the Grand Unity Golden Immortal level. 611
| Cultivation Principle | Details |
|---|---|
| Innate foundation | Talent and physical constitution are generally determined at birth and are treated as decisive to a cultivator’s future. 4 |
| Modern Mortal Path | The current system developed after the world’s fragmentation and the leakage of immortal energy. 611 |
| Four Mortal Stages | Refining Essence into Qi, Refining Qi into Spirit, Refining Spirit into Void, and Returning to Void and Merging with the Dao. 421 563 |
| Immortal ascent | In the Primordial World, crossing the four Mortal Path stages allows a cultivator to enter the Immortal ranks directly. 611 |

Story Role
The Primordial World is the primary setting of Su Yang’s storytelling and cultivation journey. Qingshan City, located in Dongsheng Shenzhou south of the Great Tang, is where his earliest storytelling sessions draw mortals, immortals, gods, and eventually the world’s greatest powers. 1 76
Its spiritual abundance, ancient history, rigid Heavenly Dao, and repeated catastrophes shape the motives of nearly every major faction. The world is also the subject of Su Yang’s intended transformation: he seeks to reshape it into a Mythical Primordial World and offers suitable followers techniques from that higher cultivation system. 595
