Background

Su Yang was born the son of a wealthy merchant in the Great Tang Dynasty. After his family fell into ruin and both parents died, he arrived in Qingshan City with no clear means of survival. There, he awakened the Storyteller System, which grants rewards for telling stories and converts listeners’ emotions into points. 1

He built his reputation at a Qingshan City inn by narrating tales such as Nine Dragons Pulling Coffin and repeatedly ending sessions at decisive moments. The technique filled the inn day after day, while the System rewarded the anticipation, frustration, shock, and fear created among his audience. 2 6 18

Initially, Su Yang’s goal was practical: acquire enough power to survive a Primordial World where mortals could be erased by immortals, demons, Heavenly Calamities, or collateral damage from greater beings. The inn’s protective domain allowed him to provoke the Heavenly Dao with forbidden stories; he shattered a lightning punishment with a shout and deliberately recognized the resulting terror as a source of points. 3 18

His audience soon expanded beyond mortals. Nuwa, Houtu, Tongtian, Heavenly Court figures, Chaos Demon Gods, and hidden Great Powers all became invested in his stories and his knowledge of other worlds.
