Background / History
Ting Lanyue is a member of the Dating Clan, a clan with Qi Refiners within Sword Gate despite not being one of the Ten Great Clans. She entered the Upper Court one year before Zhong Yue and became a recognized senior disciple among Elder Pu's hundred-plus students. 10 11 13
Initially believing herself to be the recipient of Elder Pu's true transmission of the Thunderclap Sword Art, she won the disciples' internal contest. She later witnessed Zhong Yue's battle against a Mutated Abyssal Demon and recognized that he, rather than herself, had grasped the art's essence. 12
During the Sword Gate Demonic Ruins crisis, Ting led disciples against mature Abyssal Demons, survived the demonic uprising, and helped expose the danger posed by the Heavenly Phenomenon Mother. Of Elder Pu's hundred-plus disciples who entered the ruins, only around a dozen returned alive. 11 15 17
Appearance
Ting Lanyue is a heroic, spirited young woman around Zhong Yue's age, described as tall for a woman but still somewhat petite beside him. 12 18
- Has a shapely, well-developed figure. 12
- Wore ordinary village-girl clothing while carrying a basket of flowers in the Women's Court. 18
- Her bearing is commonly associated with confidence and leadership among the Upper Court disciples. 10 11
Personality
Ting Lanyue is open, generous, and willing to include less experienced disciples. She invited Zhong Yue into the Demonic Ruins expedition despite his unusual-looking Thunderclap Sword Art and initially low apparent experience. 10
She is a decisive field leader. When the number of mutated demons revealed that the Demonic Ruins were abnormal, she immediately ordered the group to retreat; after escaping captivity, she insisted that Sword Gate's higher-ups be warned about the Heavenly Phenomenon Mother. 13 15
She is also observant and discreet. After witnessing Zhong Yue manifest Suihuang, she agreed not to reveal his secret, then later helped sell the group’s spoils and delivered his share of the Feather Spirit Pills. 12 13 19
Her interactions with Zhong Yue often carry a teasing tone, particularly over his connection to Shui Qingyan and his unauthorized visit to the Women's Court. 18 19
