Background

Yu Feiyan is the granddaughter of the Youyu Clan patriarch. The Youyu Clan is one of the Ten Great Clans and ranks second among them; its ancestral Fish Dragon Totem Spirit has been worshipped for ten thousand years. Her lineage and access to the clan's Qi Refiners support her cultivation as a core disciple. 18 21 24

She holds the senior-disciple position in Sword Gate's Women's Court and is regarded as its strongest member, with strength described as close to that of a Qi Refiner. 18

Zhong Yue's escape from her interception in the Women's Court provokes her into repeatedly demanding a proper spar, while her rivalry with Li Xiuniang becomes intense enough to erupt immediately before the Unrestricted Duel. 19 21 32 47

Her aggression is tempered by courage and responsibility. She leaps from a cliff after Zhong Yue despite the mortal danger, thanks him after he saves her, and leads her companions decisively through Beast God Ridge. 21 22 32

Although she is intrigued by Zhong Yue's life-or-death cultivation method, she ultimately refuses it after recognizing that its risk is unnecessary for someone already certain to become a Qi Refiner. 22 23

Women's Court Incident

After Zhong Yue accidentally enters the Women's Court, Yu Feiyan joins the female disciples in trapping him with Totem Pillars. Zhong Yue breaks the formation, clashes with her Fish-Goose Twin Flight, and escapes. 18

Still dissatisfied with the unresolved encounter, Yu Feiyan confronts Zhong Yue at the Drinking Horse Platform. Her pursuit sends both of them over a cliff; when fear and Inner Demons immobilize her during the fall, Zhong Yue risks his life to save her. 21 22

Life-or-Death Cultivation Challenge

Yu Feiyan seeks Zhong Yue's method for entering the space between life and death. He shares the secret but warns that her chance of death would be extremely high, even with Tao Daier's assistance. Yu Feiyan decides against attempting it, then challenges Zhong Yue to determine whether his desperate cultivation or her steady cultivation will prove stronger in the year-end battle. 23

Beast God Ridge Expedition

Yu Feiyan joins Zhong Yue, Ting Lanyue, Tao Daier, and more than thirty female disciples on a Sword Gate mission to suppress the Demonic Beast disaster at Beast God Ridge.
