Background / History

Purrloin is a young, unusually small and frail Dark-type Pokémon found alone in a dark, damp city alley. Her fur is darker than that of an ordinary Purrloin, apparently from prolonged life in the gloomy environment. Though Purrloin her age would normally remain with her mother, no mother was found nearby. 141

When Kanto encountered her roughly half a month before the events of her appearance, Purrloin had a wound on her left leg that had begun to rot. Unable to leave her untreated, Kanto brought her home and cared for her despite the high cost of Pokémon medical supplies and his lack of official Trainer status. 141

After several days of treatment, Purrloin recovered enough to walk. The Inspection Team later identified her as an illegal Pokémon; she escaped through the complicated terrain, but her injured leg was struck again in the process. Kanto found her back at the location where he had first rescued her and hid her in an abandoned shack to prevent her recapture. 141 156

Appearance

Purrloin is a purple, catlike Pokémon with notably darker fur than usual. She is visibly undersized, frail, and still very young. 141
