Upbringing

Artoria is King Uther's child, raised in secret by Sir Hector to inherit Camelot. Her upbringing is built around a single purpose: becoming the ideal King of Knights. Hector's estate and military resources are deliberately maintained to provide her with a future power base. 333 346

Her training is severe. She spends most days studying kingship, swordsmanship, riding, and noble conduct, sleeps only three hours a night, and receives further instruction in dreams from Merlin. This discipline leaves little room for personal wants or independent reflection. 335 346

Education under Kira Yoshikage and Vivian

Hector later asks Kira Yoshikage and Vivian to become Artoria's additional teachers. Kira introduces her to unfamiliar concepts such as gravity, but his more lasting lessons concern personal will, responsibility, and manipulation. 333 342

Kira guides Artoria into Count Walker's territory and arranges events so that she kills Count Walker by her own decision. He later explains that his indirect guidance was manipulation, forcing her to confront the difference between following another's intent and acting on her own will. 339 345

Ascension as King Arthur

Artoria travels to London and approaches the Sword of Selection despite Merlin's warning that drawing it will cost her humanity and lead toward tragedy. She accepts the burden, pulls the sword from the stone, and publicly takes the name Arthur Pendragon. 347 348
