Chen Tao could, of course, choose not to travel through the Over-Time Stream to find the Supreme Superboy from the Three Worlds era. Instead, he could choose to pull the Supreme Superboy from the current timeline down from the Source Wall.

But the problem was that he was looking for Superboy to temporarily have him stand in as the Prime Universe's Superman—not to let him keep doing so forever.

Once he found the real Superman—the P Superman who had been taken by the World Forger—the Supreme Superboy, having served his purpose, would have to be kicked out.
