For example, before New 52, Batman had always been a seasoned hero. Before joining the Justice League, he had already been fighting crime in Gotham for around twelve to fifteen years.

Yet Doctor Manhattan stole away those ten years, causing Batman's decade-plus history to be compressed into two to five years during the New 52 era.
