Ibuse is an enormous salamander large enough for Hanzō to ride into battle. His body can endure heavy ninjutsu and ninja-tool fire, though he has been visibly wounded badly enough to bleed black blood and emit poisonous smoke. 95

Second Great Ninja War

Ibuse is introduced as the source of the poison gas that helped Hanzō's three-thousand-strong Rain Ninja Army rout a four-thousand-man Sand force in a single night. His gas is described as especially lethal to ordinary frontline ninja. 86

During the later fighting against Sunagakure, Ibuse endures sustained attacks while protecting Hanzō. Though badly wounded, he remains combat-capable and helps maintain Amegakure's offensive until Sunagakure's counterattack begins suppressing the Rain Ninja. 95

When Hanzō breaks through Danzō's encirclement, Ibuse ambushes and kills a Root Jonin, then disperses poison gas to protect the Amegakure flanks. 97 Hanzō subsequently assigns Ibuse to Kanzō to aid the Rain Ninja withdrawal while he remains behind to confront Konoha's Jonin. 98

War against Kirigakure

Hanzō summons Ibuse for a direct assault on the Mist Ninja Army, riding him into a charge that initially catches Kirigakure off guard. 201 Together, they devastate Mist formations through Water Style, poison rain, and poison gas, forcing the enemy back until its Tailed Beast assets intervene. 203

During the Shogunate Fleet's battle against Kirigakure, Ibuse is summoned to the right flank to intercept Mist forces attacking the Shogunate formation. The Six-Tails Jinchūriki enters full Tailed Beast form to halt Hanzō and Ibuse's advance. 274

New World Campaign

Ibuse remains Hanzō's designated assault partner during preparations for the landing annihilation battle, with Hanzō declaring that he will lead the charge atop Ibuse once the operation reaches its final phase. 501
