Background / History
Mount Myōboku sage
Fukasaku served as one of Mount Myōboku's senior sages and its second-in-command under the Great Toad Sage. Although he sometimes referred to the ancient leader disrespectfully, he held genuine reverence for him as the pillar sustaining the Mount Myōboku lineage. 295 339
He and Sage Shima visited Konoha as emissaries after the Great Toad Sage foresaw a prophecy connected to a possible Savior of the Ninja World. Uchiha Tokimitsu refused them permission to inspect the village, treating the request as a threat to Konoha's dignity and security. 260
Jiraiya's mentor and Mount Myōboku's intervention
After Jiraiya fled to Mount Myōboku, Fukasaku supervised his Sage Art training. His instruction enabled Jiraiya to enter Sage Mode independently within Mount Myōboku's dense Natural Energy, though Fukasaku considered Jiraiya's control insufficient for combat outside the sacred land. 301
Fukasaku told Jiraiya that his mission was to find and guide the Ninja World's Savior, while portraying Uchiha Tokimitsu and the Uchiha Clan as enemies of that future. He later identified the Uchiha as descendants of Indra and as the “dark force” opposing the Savior's rise. 301 306
Konoha's purge of Mount Myōboku Ninja Toads deeply affected Fukasaku. He sought retaliation from the Great Toad Sage, then began gathering Ninja Toad forces and contacting Jiraiya as Mount Myōboku committed itself more directly to the conflict. 313
War against the Shogunate
Fukasaku commanded Mount Myōboku's Ninja Toads during the campaign against the Shogunate. The Great Toad Sage authorized support of up to five thousand elite Ninja Toads, ordering Mount Myōboku to withdraw from worldly affairs if that casualty limit was exceeded. 339
He remained uneasy about the war's cost, especially after Uzumaki sealing barriers prevented Ninja Toads from escaping by Summoning Technique and left them isolated against organized ninja forces. Despite those doubts, he continued backing Jiraiya and sought cooperation with Iwagakure, Kumogakure, and Ryūchi Cave. 339 370 372
Fukasaku and Shima fought alongside Jiraiya using Mount Myōboku Sage Art. Their side was gradually worn down by Uchiha Tokimitsu's superior Chakra reserves, Perfect Susanoo, and access to Tailed Beast Chakra. 374
Shima was ultimately captured after attempting to flee with Fukasaku and Asura through a Space-Time Rift. Her death left Fukasaku devastated; his Sage Chakra became unstable, and petrification began spreading from his feet. 399 400
Escape to the New World
As the Uchiha Dynasty prepared to invade Mount Myōboku, the Great Toad Sage ordered Fukasaku to lead one thousand elite Ninja Toads and nearly one hundred thousand high-grade frog eggs to the New World. Fukasaku enforced the evacuation despite the fear and resistance of many toads. 482 485
The Great Toad Sage created a flesh-and-blood clone disguised as Fukasaku to delay the invaders. The decoy was later devoured by Tagorihime during Mount Myōboku's final destruction. 482 488
In the New World, Fukasaku initially hid his surviving kin and gathered intelligence on local powers. He intended to preserve the Ninja Toads until the Ninja World army arrived, then establish himself as a strategist rather than sacrifice his people in further open warfare. 497
Alliance with the Bloody Mist
Fukasaku intercepted a treasure convoy and later approached Biwa Jūzō, revealing that Mount Myōboku had been destroyed by Uchiha Tokimitsu. He used supplies, intelligence, and strategic advice to form an alliance with the surviving Bloody Mist faction. 498
He encouraged Biwa Jūzō to build strength in secret, seek a favorable kingdom or ruler to influence, and avoid direct confrontations with stronger enemies. Fukasaku privately viewed the Mist forces as shields that could protect the remaining Ninja Toads. 498 510
Appearance
Fukasaku is a small Ninja Toad, described as roughly half a man's height. He commonly wears a cloak, which he removed when formally introducing himself to Biwa Jūzō. 498
- A frog sage with the ability to speak human language. 372 498
- Frequently stands with his hands clasped behind his back while considering strategy or addressing subordinates. 313 339
- His grief after Shima's death destabilized his Sage Chakra and caused gradual petrification below his knees. 400
Personality
Fukasaku is deeply protective of the Mount Myōboku lineage. The deaths of Ninja Toads under his command drive much of his willingness to intervene in human conflicts, even when he doubts whether such involvement can succeed. 339
He is pragmatic and politically calculating beneath his outwardly dignified manner. He gathers intelligence through spy frogs, seeks alliances with other powers, and carefully steers Biwa Jūzō toward policies that serve Mount Myōboku's survival. 301 498 510
His loyalty to the Great Toad Sage is profound, but not unquestioning. He repeatedly worries over the Great Sage's decisions to enter the Ninja World, deploy more troops, and later abandon Mount Myōboku for a cross-world evacuation. 295 339 481
