Background & History

Lin Zhennan was an old-established Half-step King whose strength and reputation made even the Canine Fang Clan’s assassins wary of confronting him. By the time he began visiting the Library Pavilion, however, he was gravely wounded: his martial foundation was destroyed and his remaining lifespan was nearly exhausted. Despite this condition, he retained the discernment to recognize that Chu He’s aura far surpassed that of an ordinary Half-step King 4 10 11.

Chu He ultimately treated him with a drop of Life Spirit Liquid, extending his lifespan, and implanted a Forbidden Technique that restored his fighting strength. Grateful for this second chance, Lin Zhennan chose to fake his death and use the next five years to draw out threats to the Lin Family 12.

He revealed himself when the Incense Sect threatened the Lin Family. Wearing heavy armor, he stopped Lin Xueling from recklessly challenging the enemy and personally confronted the Incense Sect’s Cult Master. Although both were Half-step Kings, the Cult Master regarded Lin Zhennan as overwhelmingly stronger 16.

Afterward, Lin Zhennan did not claim responsibility for the mysterious senior who had aided the Lin Family. He believed that the senior who saved him may have acted on the family’s behalf, but he knew neither that person’s identity nor which Lin clansman they were connected to 18.
