Background

Zhao Yuling is Lin Xueling’s younger niece, born to Lin Xueling’s elder sister after her marriage into Heavenly Mountain Commandery. As a child of eight or nine, she came to the Lin Family Book Repository seeking the hidden master she believed had trained her aunt. There she met Chu He, whom she immediately began calling “Little Chu Brother.” 22

She sought strength to protect her parents and prevent the Xia Clan from being bullied by other races. Chu He agreed to teach her martial arts, subject to his assessment, beginning their long mentor-student relationship. 23

Appearance

Zhao Yuling was introduced as a delicate, adorable girl with large eyes and two horn braids. As she matured and traveled the martial world, she adopted the appearance that earned her the title of the White-Robed Fairy. 22 26

Years beside Chu He softened her earlier overly dramatic temperament. She prefers reading, teaching, resting, and spending time at the Book Repository over Lin Xueling’s exhausting style of constant campaigning; Chu He describes her true nature as someone who loves fun. 39 42
