Background / History
Early cultivation and Jade Bone Sect
Zhang Wan reached the Postnatal Realm at ten years old through the Ox Demon Body Tempering Fist. He revealed himself as the nineteenth student of his cohort to enter the Houtian Realm, deliberately accepting limited attention rather than standing among the earliest breakthroughs. He registered as an official Jade Bone Sect disciple and selected the Bronze Iron Body cultivation method for its long-term potential. 4 5
He built his early combat foundation around the Bronze Iron Body, Stacked Force Palm, Bone Piercing Finger, and Nine Step Movement Technique. Rather than immediately seeking defensive skills, he relied on the physique forged by his cultivation method as his defense. 10
After returning to Quanjian Village, Zhang Wan helped Zhang Changlin cultivate Snow Grass and began planning for a safer sect career. He chose Spirit Planter and Talisman Master paths because spirit planting could supply his own talisman materials and potentially secure a logistics position within the Jade Bone Sect. 12 13
His ability as a Spirit Planter let him enter the Spirit Planter Hall early. There, he formed connections with Li Sanjian and Wan Xing'er, who taught him practical knowledge and unwritten rules of the hall. 29
Dual discipleship and Golden Cloud Manor
Wang Yue and Li Guannian unexpectedly accepted Zhang Wan as their disciple simultaneously. Their gifts included a storage bag, a complete Postnatal Spirit Planter inheritance, two magic tools, and one hundred low-grade spirit stones; Zhang Wan nevertheless investigated their motives and anticipated hostility from their factions. 43
He refused attempts by other disciples to distract or compromise him through banquets, gambling, charm cultivators, wine, and wealth. His nominal masters approved of his response because he remained focused and continued improving despite the rumors surrounding him. 46 47
Assigned to Golden Cloud Manor as a Spirit Planter, Zhang Wan cultivated thirty mu of spirit fields while repeatedly fighting martial artists from rival True Core sects. The practical battles sharpened his combat instincts and earned him a reputation among the manor's disciples. 64 79 98
Secret inheritance gathering and rise to True Core
Following his Prenatal breakthrough, Zhang Wan moved with Zhang Lingshu and Zhang Yan into an inner-mountain cave dwelling. He studied the sect's inheritances, deduced the Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation from the Bronze Iron Body, then rebuilt his movement, fist, finger, and body-refinement skills around the new technique. 103 107 108
Using Five Elements Divine Concealment, he infiltrated the sixth and seventh floors of the Inheritance Hall, copied incomplete True Core techniques, and obtained the Jade Bone Fist Scripture and Five Elements Talisman Master inheritance. 109
He advanced to True Core after integrating the Great Sun concept into his cultivation and comprehending the Great Sun Melting True Intent. This created the Great Sun Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation and gave him combat power beyond ordinary first-tier True Core martial artists. 114
Regional expansion and alternate identities
Zhang Wan recruited followers for the Cloud Valley Branch from his classmates, his inherited faction, Golden Cloud Manor, and the Spirit Planter Hall. He expected obedience rather than unconditional loyalty, asking only that subordinates not betray him while he remained standing. 112
As his strength rose, he began using disposable identities to obtain resources and conceal his growth. As Wang Yan, he travelled as a True Core artifact refiner and opened Wang's Artifact Refining Workshop in Spirit Treasure City. The workshop gained renown for its magic-tool work and fire talismans, while Luo Qiu and Bo Quan became his apprentices. 142 143 145
He later used the identities Ye Shengtian, Ghost Sea Old Ancestor, True Martial Old Ancestor, Mang Ji, and Chen Yang to plunder hostile powers, gather inheritances, pressure enemies, and separate risks from his family and the Jade Bone Sect. 131 187 191 199 202 241 249
Dharma Aspect and higher realms
Upon reaching the Dharma Aspect Realm, Zhang Wan condensed the Great Sun Dharma Aspect and began infiltrating Dharma Aspect sects for inheritances. He gathered more than two hundred complete Dharma Aspect inheritances before turning to resource accumulation. 164
The Heavenly Talent Gu, Myriad Infant Immortal Herb, top-grade spirit vein, and Great Sun Source Heart accelerated his growth. He integrated insights from many inheritances into his core technique, enabling him to challenge martial artists far above his nominal realm. 182 187 191
After entering the Great Xuanwu World, Zhang Wan divided his strength among his main body, Second True Body, flesh-and-blood form, and half-magic-tool clone. His bodies operated independently while sharing knowledge and resources, allowing him to hunt feral beasts, collect inheritances, improve the Jade Bone Sect, and pursue higher cultivation simultaneously. 265 291 303 313
World Origin Power aided his breakthrough to the Void God Realm and left behind a top-grade Void God spirit vein and natural formation. Zhang Wan used the spirit vein to raise the spiritual-energy concentration around Dragon Phoenix Mountain and support Jade Bone Sect expansion. 294 301 312
True Spirit Plane
In the True Spirit Plane, Zhang Wan entered Ziyong City disguised as an alchemist and opened Hundred Elixir Workshop. The Ye Clan recruited him as a retainer, leading him to discover the unusually gifted child Ye Shi. 418
After eliminating an Azure Abyss Hall elder and several Origin Vein experts, Zhang Wan took Ye Shi as a disciple and began travelling with him. He taught Ye Shi the Great Zhou Heavenly Divine Art, a comprehensive technique Zhang Wan created by integrating techniques gathered across the surrounding region. 430 431
Zhang Wan subdued Azure Abyss Hall territory and established the True Spirit Martial Hall. He later trained Ye Shi and Fang Qinglian through repeated life-and-death combat, while gaining recognition among Three Calamities Realm cultivators as the “Money-scattering Boy” for purchasing information and curiosities with high-grade Origin Pills. 441 443 446
He eventually disclosed to the Great Xia Emperor that he was an outsider tasked with nurturing True Spirit Realm experts for an approaching great calamity. By then, the True Spirit Plane had marked him with immense destiny, potentially positioning him as its foremost Child of Destiny or future Plane Lord. 460
Personality
Zhang Wan is cautious without being passive. He prefers to develop quietly and avoid becoming an obvious target, but he rejects the idea of pretending to be helpless: in his view, appearing completely weak invites exploitation and eventual suppression. 5 27
He is disciplined and difficult to corrupt. Zhang Wan avoids distractions that would endanger his foundation or consume time needed for cultivation, and he preserves EXP for unforeseen crises rather than spending it recklessly. 46 137
His pragmatism can become ruthless when dealing with enemies or acting through an alias. He treats disposable identities as tools that can bear infamy in his place, allowing him to extort hostile forces or acquire resources with fewer restraints. 199 202
Zhang Wan is strongly protective of those he considers his own. He equips his siblings with defensive treasures, gives scarce cultivation resources first to close companions, preserves the bodies and souls of deceased family members, and later succeeds in reviving them. 128 199 223 388
Abilities & Skills
Experience Point System
Zhang Wan possesses a system panel that tracks his realm, techniques, martial skills, and available EXP.
- He can spend EXP to comprehend and perfect techniques or martial skills immediately. 4 48
- He can deduce new skills and cultivation methods by integrating existing inheritances and insights. 105 107 109
- He can use EXP to cross cultivation bottlenecks, though he often avoids doing so publicly to conceal the speed of his advancement. 27 114 178
- He considers stored EXP a strategic reserve for reacting to emergencies. 137
Great Sun Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation
Zhang Wan's principal cultivation method evolved from the Bronze Iron Body into the Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation, then into the Great Sun Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation.
- The initial Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation was deduced from the Bronze Iron Body and ten complete Prenatal inheritances; at the Prenatal stage, it was stated to offer at least triple the Bronze Iron Body's combat power. 107
- The Great Sun concept and Great Sun Melting True Intent gave the technique a matching martial-path foundation for the True Core Realm. 114
- Its accompanying skills include Crimson Sun Body Technique, Great Sun Divine Fist, Mixed Yang Saber Palm, Great Sun Five Elements Melting Furnace True Body, Five Elements Secret Flame, Great Sun Furnace Refining Spirit Method, Five Elements Divine Concealment, and Soul Seal. 187 190
- His Great Sun Golden Eyes emerged naturally as his true body strengthened, enhancing his perception alongside spiritual sense. 201
Concealment and disguises
Zhang Wan repeatedly uses concealment to control what others learn about his true cultivation and identity.
- Iron Curtain Stealth conceals aura and obscures his form; at Prenatal First Level, it could disguise his cultivation as lower stages, though stronger opponents could still detect inconsistencies. 105
- Five Elements Divine Concealment was deduced from Iron Curtain Stealth and Spirit Planter inheritances. It can bypass formations and restrictions without triggering them. 105 109
- Ashen Divine Concealment was created from the Heaven-Deceiving Inheritance and Zhang Wan's own cultivation insights after his parents' deaths. 199
- His identities are deliberately compartmentalized so that danger directed at an alias does not immediately threaten his relatives or Jade Bone Sect connections. 142 187 241
Artifact refining, talismans, and alchemy
Zhang Wan supplements combat cultivation with logistical and crafting disciplines.
- He chose Spirit Planter and Talisman Master paths to produce resources, including spirit plants for talisman paper, ink, and brushes. 13
- He refined the Cold Heavy Saber, Earth Tortoise Shield, storage tools, and later his natal magic tool, the Great Sun Source Heart. 48 142
- His artifact-refining ability reached Dharma Aspect grade, allowing him to upgrade all six of his principal magic tools to Dharma Aspect magic tools. 174
- He used Enlightenment Peach Fruits to raise his artifact-refining skill to low-grade Virtual God level. 303
- In the True Spirit Plane, he became known as an Alchemist Grandmaster because he traded high-grade Origin Pills for secret techniques, ancient texts, and unusual artifacts. 446
Multiple bodies and formations
Zhang Wan operates through more than one form to extend his reach and combine power.
- His main body, Second True Body, flesh-and-blood form, and half-magic-tool clone can act independently while coordinating resources and intelligence. 265 291 303
- The half-magic-tool clone reached a body comparable to a peak low-grade Virtual God magic tool and gained a Virtual God-level divine soul. 312
- He derived the Earth-Shattering Three Yuan Formation to combine the strengths of his main body, Second True Body, and half-magic-tool clone. 265
- When united with his formation and multiple bodies, his full power approached peak Void God Seventh Level despite his main body being at Void God Fourth Level. 313
Soul preservation and resurrection
Zhang Wan preserves the souls of deceased relatives and associates for future revival.
- He retrieved and preserved Zhang Changlin and Lin Yue's bodies after their deaths, intending to revive them later. 199
- He also reserved places in his soul space for Zhang Yan, Chen Xin, and other close family members. 255
- Zhang Changlin, Lin Yue, Zhang Yan, Chen Xin, Old Ancestor Jade Bone, and others were ultimately revived. 388
