History

Spiritual-energy decline

The Great Xuanwu World was vast, rich in martial arts, and naturally capable of producing True God Realm martial artists. However, it could not sustain the continued advancement of True Gods. A newly born True God consumed enormous amounts of spiritual energy and spirit items, causing a decline that could take roughly ten thousand years to recover from. 185

True Gods also had to tear open the world barrier and enter Primordial Chaos Space to continue cultivating. Such departures damaged the world's origin; recovery required at least thirty to forty thousand years, during which breakthroughs to Void Glimpse and higher realms became drastically more difficult. 185

The Abyssal Mansion Divine Lord's ascension and subsequent departure were expected to usher in another era of spiritual-energy decline and martial stagnation. 185 186

Selection of the Children of Heavenly Dao

The world's Heavenly Dao initially acted through instinct rather than conscious thought. Facing the approaching threat of Primordial Chaos lifeforms, it opened an opportunity for qualified cultivators to refine and control the world. 299 300

Fei Qian and Wang Huang were originally selected for this role. Zhang Wan later became the third chosen Child of Heavenly Dao after his Great Sun Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation achieved exceptional compatibility with the world upon his Void God breakthrough. 299

The Heavenly Dao did not revoke the other candidates' qualifications; until a Child of Heavenly Dao truly controlled the world, multiple candidates could remain in contention. 300

Refinement and defense against the Evil Eye Emperor

Zhang Wan transferred essence, blood, and divine soul power to his Second True Body, raising it to the peak of Void God Ninth Level so it could refine the Heavenly Dao Orb. 324

The Second True Body completed the refinement of the Great Xuanwu World except for the portion tainted by the Evil Eye Emperor. It then drew upon World Origin Power and, assisted by Zhang Wan's other bodies, fought the Primordial Chaos lifeform beyond the world's membrane. 328 329

During the battle, the world devoured and refined the Evil Eye Emperor's scattered flesh and blood through the Great Sun Five Elements Melting Furnace Cultivation. The recovered Origin Power stabilized the world and restored its spiritual energy. 329 332

Afterward, the Second True Body and the Great Xuanwu World became inseparable: the world became its true body, while the body itself functioned as another shell for the world. 329 332

Expansion beyond its original boundaries

The world absorbed the Annihilation World's World Will, inheriting its supernatural system and related knowledge. It later enveloped and subdued the Immortal Dao World, preserving that world's inhabitants and cultivation path. 348 357

The Spirit World was eventually integrated into the Great Xuanwu World's sphere after Zhang Wan escaped the Mother of Darkness. Its resources and cultivation systems became available to the enlarged world. 394

The Great Xuanwu World later reached the Origin World's World Sand Cluster alongside the Contained Object World, where Zhang Wan used it as cover to conceal his true nature from the Origin World's Heavenly Dao. 395 396

Characteristics

Inhabitants and regions

  • The world originally contained only humans and demons; the demonic path consisted of cultivators from either race who practiced demonic arts. 259
  • Its undeveloped territory is collectively called the Savage Wilderness Realm, whose scale exceeds the combined territories of the human and demon races. 264
  • Major regions include the Thunder Fire Domain, Martial Spirit Domain, Primal Demon Domain, Chaos Black Domain, Flesh and Blood Heaven Domain, and Three Lights Domain. 221 258 324
  • The world’s martial society is extremely violent due to resource scarcity, with sects destroyed regularly and defeated martial artists sometimes used as cultivation resources. 266

World-borne locations and treasures

  • Abyssal Treasure Sea — A heaven-and-earth opportunity within the world, associated with the Abyssal Mansion Divine Lord's transformation and later used against the Evil Eye Emperor. 185 329
  • Sky Nether Palace — A moving wondrous artifact located within the world's spatial layers; only Void Glimpse Realm cultivators and above can sense it. 205
  • World Origin Land — The location of the world's origin and Heavenly Dao will, accessible to Zhang Wan through a passage perceived with his Great Sun Golden Eyes. 295 299
  • Secret Realm Spatial Layer — A spatial layer specifically designated to contain secret realms for spirit plants, magic-tool embryos, formations, and other resources. 359
  • Outer Space — A space created at the world's membrane to process Primordial Chaos Qi and provide cultivation resources for high-level cultivators. 333 394

World Authority & Systems

World Origin Power

The Great Xuanwu World's Origin Power can strengthen physical bodies, divine souls, Dharma Aspects, and cultivation techniques. It aided Zhang Wan's Void God breakthrough and left behind a top-grade Void God spirit vein formed from leaked Origin Power. 294

Before Zhang Wan refined the world, Origin Power could only be accessed under exceptional circumstances, primarily when a Child of Heavenly Dao faced a critical need. 300

  • It can replenish the world's spiritual energy after depletion. 332
  • It can be used to refine devoured Primordial Chaos lifeforms into usable power. 329 332
  • It supported the Second True Body's Divine King breakthrough. 386

Heavenly Dao and feral beasts

The original Heavenly Dao was nascent and rule-like rather than fully conscious. It instinctively cultivated feral beasts as potential defenses against external threats, though its efforts were insufficient to produce True God-comparable beasts. 299 320

  • Children of Heavenly Dao can receive warnings of world-threatening invasions. 317
  • Zhang Wan could slightly influence feral beasts through his connection to the Heavenly Dao, but could not directly control them. 320
  • The world's instinctive selection of Children of Heavenly Dao was driven by the threat of Primordial Chaos lifeforms. 300 318

World Master authority

After refinement, the Second True Body could govern the Great Xuanwu World with conscious intent rather than instinct alone. Its own advancement became directly tied to the world's development. 332

  • The Second True Body can be reborn within the world if its physical body or divine soul is destroyed, provided the world survives. 332
  • If the world is destroyed while the Second True Body remains, it can recreate the Great Xuanwu World, though lives lost before its Divine King advancement could not initially be restored. 332
  • The World Master restricted the creation of Void God spirit veins to compel Void Gods to refine processed Primordial Chaos Qi in Outer Space. 333
  • Following the Divine King transformation, the world can mark and distort beings touched by its power, turning them into the Second True Body's subordinates. 387
  • Its speed of absorbing Primordial Chaos Qi and converting it into Origin Power increased by more than a hundredfold after reaching the Divine King level. 387

Merit and cultivation development

To reduce resource-driven conflict and accelerate the world's growth, Zhang Wan introduced systems that reward and cultivate its inhabitants. 358

  • Merit — Energy awarded for completing world tasks, particularly intended to compensate lower-level cultivators who gain little from large-scale world maintenance. 358
  • Heaven and Earth Dreamscape — A realm derived from world memories that allows cultivators to experience the insights and life experiences of past powerhouses, including True Gods. 358
  • Secret realms — Regularly opened cultivation spaces used to mass-produce spirit plants, heavenly materials, magic-tool embryos, and formation resources. 358 359
  • Reformed advancement system — True Gods and True Immortals can now leave without damaging the world, as their Dao and accumulated energy replenish its foundation before departure. 366

Relationships

  • Zhang Wan / Second True Body — The Second True Body refined the world and became its World Master; its power and the world's development are mutually dependent. 328 332
  • Zhang Wan's Main BodyZhang Wan declined to personally control the world because doing so could affect his system, instead preparing the Second True Body to assume control. 300 301
  • Fei Qian — A Child of Heavenly Dao who was assigned to mediate relations between Great Xuanwu World natives and Immortal Dao World inhabitants. 299 359
  • Wang Huang — A Child of Heavenly Dao who volunteered to manage the Secret Realm Spatial Layer under Zhang Wan's authority. 299 359
  • Abyssal Mansion Divine Lord — A native True God whose departure previously damaged the world barrier; he later joined Zhang Wan's faction and returned to a greatly strengthened Great Xuanwu World. 185 380
  • Annihilation World — Its World Will was devoured, granting the Great Xuanwu World its supernatural system, world memories, and inheritances. 348
  • Immortal Dao World — It was sealed and brought under control after its World Will was devoured; its inhabitants and cultivation system were preserved. 357 359
  • Spirit World — A neighboring world whose spirit-creation methods inspired Zhang Wan; it was later integrated into the Great Xuanwu World's sphere. 363 365 394
  • Mother of Darkness — A hostile Primordial Chaos existence that marked the Great Xuanwu World and pursued it through Primordial Chaos Space. 333 392 393
