Background / History

Sophia once walked the Human World under the name Sophia, a gifted Frost Source Energy Mage and the Valkyrie's human identity. She was Lance's friend, though she owed him money and was frequently subjected to his pranks and teasing. Lance nevertheless celebrated her birthdays, gave her gifts, and took her home when she was drunk. 182

During a Beast Tide, Sophia died protecting a town after casting a Forbidden Spell. Lance later searched Hell, the Heroic Spirit Realm, and Heaven for her, without finding any trace of her. His suspicion that Sophia had been the Valkyrie proved well founded when Sophia's portrait began speaking and later became a means for the Valkyrie to manifest. 90 91 182 346

Accounts also identify Sophia's previous life as the Saintess of the Temple of the Goddess of Wisdom. After reincarnation, she became the Saintess of the War God Temple. Blessed by the Wisdom Temple in childhood, she developed exceptional comprehension of Divine Spells and formidable martial ability. 131 132

Sophia repeatedly dreamed of being beaten by a Black Dragon. The recurring nightmare drove her to grow stronger so that she could find and defeat the dragon from her dreams; over time, she surpassed Eileen, the Lightning Giant Dragon, in their sparring matches. 131
