Background & History
Founding
Olena proposed building a Dragon God Temple in Saint Blue, partly as a gesture toward Lucia's mother and the Dragon race 108. At the time, no Dragon God Temple was known to exist in the Human World; Saint Blue was the only human territory known to have built one 123 124.
Saint Blue mobilized Extraordinary Persons for construction, operating six rotating shifts of thousands of workers. The project accelerated substantially as construction progressed 123 124.
The temple was completed on October 10, 3455. Its inauguration centered on Lance's completion of the Dragon God Statue's eyes through The Finishing Touch 124.
Recognition by the Dragon God
When Lance painted the statue's final vertical pupil, the Dragon God Statue gained visible divinity. Its seven-colored eyes appeared alive, and every person across Saint Blue heard a majestic Dragon Roar directly within their hearts 124.
The statue then emitted multicolored light, followed by a Divine Advent Phenomenon: a colossal seven-colored Giant Dragon silhouette appeared above Saint Blue and spread its wings across the night sky. Seven-colored divine light descended into the land, waterways, vegetation, and inhabitants; Lucia received part of this harmless, divinity-bearing blessing 125.
The event confirmed that the Dragon God had acknowledged both the statue and the temple. It also alerted Temple clergy and Pure-Blooded Dragons on various Holy Mountains, creating widespread concern over the first recognized Dragon God Temple in the Human World 125.
Early Administration
The temple initially had no permanent clergy. Lucia served as its temporary Bishop shortly after its completion 125 126.
Lance was widely regarded as the temple's First Pope by visiting clergy and dragons, though he initially denied that the new temple had a formal Pope position 184 185. Sacred Golden Dragon Constantine later recognized Lance's right to use the title before Dragon Island's response became known 191.
Lance sought to recruit Bishop Franco of the Valkyrie Temple as a Dragon God Temple Bishop, offering him a Wyvern mount and proposing that Franco could eventually become the Second Pope; Franco did not accept immediately 194.
By a later period, Human Lance formally appointed Black Dragon Lance as the Dragon God Temple's Second Pope before departing for the Ancient God Temple 400.
Structure and Sacred Features
- The completed temple is described as majestic, simple, and sacred in atmosphere 124.
- Its interior walls feature Giant Dragon murals, while its stone pillars bear ancient Draconic runes carved by Lance 124.
- The Dragon God Statue stands on the central high platform and serves as the temple's core sacred object 124.
- The statue was personally carved, cleaned, painted, and finished by Lance, with Lucia assisting in the cleaning and painting work 123 124.
- Golden Dragon Austin judged the statue only slightly inferior in quality to the Dragon God Statue on Dragon Island 126.
- Austin also found the statue's divinity comparable in density to that of the Goddess of Wisdom Statue on Holy Mountain, sufficient to condense Divine Light 126.
- The temple survived Lance's Falling Sun Sword Intent during his clash with Austin and Eileen, though its plaza was left heavily damaged and later repaired by the dragons 131 132.
