Background and History

E'Gao Shangdi rules the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty through the Fate and Fortune Divine Dao. Her power is divided among five aspects—Heaven, Earth, Human, God, and Ghost—each possessing a distinct temperament, authority, and form of Immortal Qi. Together, the five aspects comprehend all three thousand layers of the Sea of Origin Qi, although that power remains distributed among them rather than perfectly integrated 160 178.

She maintains a vast Spirit Official system in which titles, cultivation resources, Destiny Constitutions, Spiritual Opportunities, and the flow of the Dao are tied to her authority. Talented cultivators may advance rapidly under the system, but their ultimate potential remains constrained by the limits imposed by her Dao foundation 196.

The Empress takes an active interest in bloodlines and inheritances. After hearing of the newly promoted Pure Yang Child, she ordered her officials to locate and retrieve every surviving descendant of the Su Clan in the Ying Floating Pagoda Realm 160. She later identified Jing Qian, a Su Clan descendant, as one of her most serious enemies after he stole resources from her palace, damaged her Saha Divine Court, and escaped with the Hungry Ghost Body 196.

During the evolution of the Clock of Chronology, the five aspects acted together to seize five Chronology paths. The Empress thereby gained a major advantage over competing cultivators and advanced beyond her previous bottleneck 178.

Her conflict with Jing Qian escalated after he infiltrated her palace and challenged the authority of her God Form. The Empress attempted to control him through the Sea of Sentient Beings' Thoughts, while Jing Qian stole human candles and the Saha Divine Persona before escaping her pursuit 188 190 191.

Afterward, she launched a prolonged retaliation. She revived Duke Dingguo, ordered him to hunt Ling Baozi and Rakshasa Child, cursed escaped Spirit Officials through their titles, and created a Fate and Fortune Puppet linked to Jing Qian's body 196. The puppet allowed injuries inflicted upon it to be mirrored onto Jing Qian's true body 196.

The Empress later confronted Jing Qian directly. Her Five Emperors Divine Light overwhelmed his sword formation, although he survived and retreated 233. When Jing Qian lured her into the Sumeru dimension, she initially advanced using the Five Emperors Golden Bridge, but Jing Qian used control over the dimension's spatial power to displace the bridge and trap her forces within the Primordial Prison 234.

Her five avatars eventually turned against her. The original Empress's physical body was shattered, her Nuwa bloodline was extracted, and a half-finished figure absorbed her power to become the new Empress 283. The surviving E'Gao Shangdi later formed an alliance with Jing Qian against Wa Huang, offering her Chronologies and knowledge in exchange for help reclaiming her body and entering the Lord's Nation 291.

Appearance

The Empress manifests through five aspects rather than a single permanent appearance. The Human Form is playful and youthful, while the God Form appears as a towering, imperious deity whose presence resembles the Heavenly Dao 160 178 188.

  • Five aspects: Heaven, Earth, Human, God, and Ghost 160 178.
  • The Human Form is described as beautiful, charming, and as carefree as a young girl 160.
  • The God Form is exceptionally tall, with a robe that shines like a galaxy 188.
  • The God Form's eyes are silver rings made from rotating divine light rather than ordinary pupils 188.
  • The Ghost Form is a resentful, lovesick ghost burdened by the karma of all beings 178.
  • The Earth Aspect specializes in spatial power and controls a Divine Kingdom and the Five Emperors Golden Bridge 234.

Personality

E'Gao Shangdi combines imperial authority with careful strategic planning. Her Human Form can be playful and generous, while her God Form is stern, rational, and uncompromising. The five aspects preserve different temperaments, but cooperate when the Empress faces a major threat 160 178 188.

She is ruthless toward enemies and former Spirit Officials who attempt to escape her system. In her view, betrayal by officials who benefited from the Heavenly Dynasty is unforgivable, and she is willing to curse, hunt, or refine them into human candles 196.

The Empress is also highly vengeful. After Jing Qian stole the Saha Divine Persona and other treasures, she immediately began planning retaliation and refused to let the offense go unanswered 196.

Despite her ruthlessness, she is capable of long-term calculation and negotiation. After losing her physical body, she retained her Dao Heart, accepted her weakened circumstances calmly, and offered Jing Qian a clear exchange of Chronologies and information for assistance against Wa Huang 291.

Abilities and Skills

Five Aspects

The Empress divides her power among five Dharma Idols: Heaven, Earth, Human, God, and Ghost. Each possesses a different form of Immortal Qi and a distinct function within the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty 160 178.

  • The five aspects can transfer Immortal Qi to one another.
  • They can act together to seize opportunities on the Clock of Chronology.
  • Their combined power represents comprehension of all three thousand layers of the Sea of Origin Qi.
  • Their separation makes it difficult for the Empress to condense a perfected, unified Immortal Qi 178.

Fate and Fortune Divine Dao

The Fate and Fortune Divine Dao allows the Empress to control the Heavenly Dynasty's titles, fortune, bloodlines, and Spirit Official system. It also lets her extract value from the cultivation progress of those under her authority 196.

  • Spirit Official titles carry the Empress's power and influence.
  • Titles can guide a cultivator's comprehension while restricting their eventual growth.
  • The Empress can curse Spirit Officials through the connections within her system.
  • She can use a subject's bloodline and title to create a Fate and Fortune Puppet 188 196.
  • Her system can seize Spirit Official talismans and withdraw their associated Magic Power and Primal Qi 291.

Five Emperors Divine Light

The Five Emperors Divine Light is a supreme technique derived from the innate Five Elements Great Dao. It can suppress or brush away opposing powers and was strong enough to break through a boundary separating two major realms 190 233.

  • Overwhelmed Jing Qian's Immortal Slaying Sword Array 233.
  • Helped break the boundary between Northern Ehuang Yinghuang Limitless Heaven and Dao Abyss Central Divine Heaven 190.
  • Was used to empower Duke Dingguo during his hunt for Ling Baozi and Rakshasa Child 196.
  • Can be deployed through multiple avatars.

Divine Authority and Mental Suppression

The God Form governs the central authority of the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty. Her divine will can overwhelm cultivators through emotion, thought, karma, and accumulated destiny 188 190.

  • The God Form submerged Jing Qian's avatar in a mental torrent 188.
  • Her method of controlling the Sea of Sentient Beings' Thoughts nearly overwhelmed the Feasting God 190.
  • Her divine pressure caused Jing Qian's Golden Immortal Spiritual Qi to feel as if it were shattering 188.
  • Her throne is linked to the First Rank Proper Spiritual Opportunity Limitless Imperial Control 190.

Bloodline Power

The Empress possesses the Nuwa bloodline and can use it as both a weapon and a cultivation resource. She attempted to permeate Jing Qian's Pangu bloodline with her own, intending to replace his bloodline while allowing him to strengthen himself under the pressure 235.

  • Can forcibly erode and replace another cultivator's bloodline.
  • Can use bloodline power to reinforce her own cultivation.
  • Her Nuwa bloodline was extracted and condensed into a blood jade after her physical body's destruction 283.
  • She later burned Pangu blood within Divine Son Anathema to strengthen the Nuwa bloodline 292.

Fate and Fortune Puppet

The Empress can create a puppet physically resembling Jing Qian by using his bloodline and the Fate and Fortune Divine Dao 196.

  • The puppet's fortune remains connected to Jing Qian.
  • Damage inflicted on the puppet is mirrored onto Jing Qian's original body.
  • The puppet can be used for prolonged torture and remote retaliation.
  • The Empress equipped herself with specialized Spiritual Opportunity tools designed to damage a cultivator's body, soul, and foundation 196.

Oath-Keeping

E'Gao Shangdi is the Oath Keeper of the Oath Ruins. She can manipulate karmic precepts and use oath-related power as a major contingency beyond her ordinary cultivation 291 292.

  • Her Oath Keeper identity is comparable to Jing Qian's Child of Fantasy identity.
  • She used a karmic connection between Divine Son Anathema and her true body to transmit power.
  • Her oath-related methods formed part of her final plan to survive the loss of her physical body 291 292.

Equipment and Artifacts

  • Limitless Imperial Control — A First Rank Proper Spiritual Opportunity beneath the Empress's throne that suppresses and governs the destiny of the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty 190.
  • Five Emperors Golden Bridge — A spatial treasure controlled by the Earth Aspect, used to enter the Sumeru dimension while preserving a retreat route 234.
  • Saha Divine Core — A core treasure in the Empress's palace, heated by the Golden Immortal Spiritual Qi of imprisoned cultivators 190.
  • Human Candles — Living Second Rank cultivators, including former Spirit Officials, refined into sources of Golden Immortal Spiritual Qi 190.
  • Book of Rewards and Punishments for Good and Evil — The foundation of the Spirit Official system, used to reclaim Spirit Official talismans and their power 291.
  • Duke Jing talisman — A Spirit Official talisman containing a trace of the Empress's soul power and linked to Jing Qian 291 292.
  • Fate and Fortune Puppet — A replica of Jing Qian created as a remote vessel for retaliation 196.

Relationships

  • Jing Qian — Rival, enemy, and later temporary ally. He infiltrates the Empress's palace, steals her human candles and Saha Divine Persona, survives her retaliation, and eventually cooperates with her against Wa Huang 191 196 291.
  • Duke Dingguo — Long-serving subordinate and old companion in cultivation. The Empress revives him and grants him three rays of Five Emperors Divine Light to pursue her enemies 196.
  • Spirit Officials — Subjects bound to the Empress's Fate and Fortune system. She provides them with cultivation resources and titles but restricts their potential and punishes those who attempt to escape 196 291.
  • Divine Son Anathema — Creation of the Empress's Nuwa and Pangu bloodlines. Originally designed to compensate for flaws in her divine system, Divine Son Anathema later becomes a vessel for resentment and a key part of the Empress's survival plan 268 291 292.
  • Wa Huang — Transcendence-level adversary and fellow inheritor of the Nuwa bloodline. Wa Huang usurps the Empress's body, prompting the Empress to ally with Jing Qian to reclaim it 283 291.
  • The Five Aspects — Her Heaven, Earth, Human, God, and Ghost manifestations. They share the Empress's larger will while possessing distinct personalities and cultivation functions 160 178.

Story Role and Major Arcs

Rule of the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty

The Empress establishes the Spirit Official system that governs cultivation, resources, titles, and advancement throughout the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty. Her system produces many powerful officials but also limits their independence and long-term potential 179 196.

The Chronology Conflict

When the Clock of Chronology evolves, the Empress coordinates all five aspects to seize five Chronologies. This collective action advances her cultivation and gives her a major advantage over other cultivators 178.

Conflict with Jing Qian

Jing Qian's entry into the Heavenly Dynasty brings him into conflict with the Empress. He investigates her palace, endures the God Form's mental pressure, steals human candles and the Saha Divine Persona, and becomes one of the dynasty's principal enemies 188 190 191.

Revenge Against the Rebels

The Empress retaliates against Jing Qian, Ling Baozi, Rakshasa Child, and the escaped Spirit Officials. She revives Duke Dingguo, curses former officials through their titles, and creates a puppet that transmits pain to Jing Qian's true body 196 197.

Battle in the Sumeru Dimension

The Empress invades Jing Qian's Sumeru dimension using the Five Emperors Golden Bridge. Jing Qian exploits his control over the dimension's spatial power, displacing the bridge and luring the Empress's forces into the Primordial Prison 234.

Usurpation and Survival

The Empress's five avatars turn against her, destroying her physical body and extracting her Nuwa bloodline. A new Empress absorbs her power, while the original E'Gao Shangdi survives through Divine Son Anathema and a remaining avatar 283 291.

Alliance Against Wa Huang

After losing most of her cultivation and her physical body, the Empress bargains with Jing Qian. She offers six current Chronologies, fourteen Old Days Chronologies, and information about the wider void organizations in exchange for help against Wa Huang and entry into the Lord's Nation 291.

“As long as you can withstand Wa Huang head-on for fifteen minutes, I can reclaim my physical body for three moments.” 291

Trivia

  • The Empress's five aspects have appeared together fewer than ten times in the history of the Limitless Heavenly Dynasty; each such occurrence is associated with major events and karmic entanglements 178.
  • The Human Form is considered the easiest aspect for officials to deal with, while the God Form is the most authoritative and dangerous 160 188.
  • The God Form's harmonious cultivation has the highest mortality rate because cultivators must withstand the Empress's accumulated emotions, desires, virtues, and delusions 188.
  • The Empress's cultivation system produces many Second Rank Spirit Officials, but Duke Dingguo is identified as the only official to ascend beyond First Rank (Subordinate) within that system 196.
