Background / History

Linsey was born in Anville Village as the son of a farmer. On the eve of Harvest Day, a Law Knight brought a prisoner to the village and later left Linsey with a Sinner’s Mark. Rather than conceal the truth and risk implicating the woman who saved him, Linsey openly explained his circumstances to Red Moon. She became his godmother and brought him into the Hidden Borderlands. 8 11

Under Red Moon’s care, Linsey received formal instruction in language and writing, while Lord Anrui taught him combat and Dan trained him as a hunter. Finn became his botany teacher, helping Linsey develop both practical plant knowledge and a patient approach to Life Source Material cultivation. 16 20 23 37

During his travels through Black Mountain World, Linsey rescued and named Red, a Source Material Lost One whose memories and abilities were gradually returning. When the Dragon Beast and Dark Abyss fought over Red, Linsey recognized that their conflict gave the oppressed inhabitants of Black Mountain a rare chance to resist. 173 175 267 271

After years away from his birthplace, Linsey returned to the City of Law seeking to remove his Sinner’s Mark and uncover what had happened to Anville Village. His actions during the Abyss School’s attack earned him the City’s recognition; Heart’s Edge Adrian eventually removed the mark and acknowledged Linsey’s role in the City of Law’s older history. 892 947 948

Personality

Linsey is intensely curious and treats unfamiliar skills, systems, worlds, and environments as problems to be understood. He learns quickly through his Game Player gift, but his interest in growth is not limited to immediate combat power; he studies languages, botany, music, construction, trade, and governance whenever they may prove useful. 16 37 73 983

He is pragmatic and analytical under pressure. He routinely gathers intelligence before committing to a fight, adapts tactics when his first approach fails, and relies on equipment changes, terrain, and game skills to overcome stronger opponents. 195 240 383 642

Linsey also retains a strong concern for ordinary people. He refuses to ignore threats to civilians, protects refugees and children, and views the misuse of power as unacceptable even when it would be convenient to stand aside. 352 458 499 974

His morality can become strained by the authority of his abilities. After turning Hilude into an NPC-like shop clerk, Linsey felt fear and guilt over stripping away her selfhood, even as he rationalized the decision. He later tested the territory’s training function on Hilude before using it on others, refusing to expose his subjects to an unknown risk. 471 548
