Function and Purpose
Artificial Divine Realms are divergent worlds separated from the main world by spacetime barriers. Their histories often initially resemble the main world’s, then diverge through supernatural phenomena, disasters, outside interference, technological changes, or deliberate intervention. 218
The War Zone uses the vast collection of Artificial Divine Realms as a protective “city of walls” around the main world. Their Time Disk areas form a barrier that isolates nearly all lingering threats from the demon god era; demon gods must erode this defense through spacetime rather than directly reaching the main world. 346
- Civilizational testing ground — Psionic cultivators enter realms through War Zone trials, gain resources and experience, and may establish new cultivation systems or reshape local civilizations. 48 49
- Defensive buffer — Realms serve as bulwarks against hostile forces, including non-human invaders, fallen humans, and demon gods. 152 323
- Resource and knowledge source — Worlds can contain unique technologies, Destiny Cluster information, artifacts, power systems, and civilizations unavailable in the main world. 28 223
- Conquest frontier — The first generation of psionic cultivators considered the teaching of psionic energy, Innate Qi, Destiny Clusters, and Daoist Arts a pathway for Artificial Divine Realm civilizations to join wider human civilization. 49
Operational Mechanics
Historical Divergence
An Artificial Divine Realm may remain close to the main world’s history for centuries before a single branching event radically alters its future. Such events can arise from supernatural power, war, external interference, technological development, catastrophe, or a civilization’s own desire for change. 218
| Mechanism | Effect |
|---|---|
| Causal entanglement | Major interventions generate corresponding consequences. A spiritual-energy resurgence may attract mythical species, ancient monsters, or immortal sects; world-ending actions may invite disasters, zombies, insect swarms, or anti-logic threats. 27 |
| Power-system emergence | Where usable energy exists, Martial Arts and Daoist Arts inevitably emerge in some form, even under radically different physical parameters. 108 |
| Temporal adjustment | After all psionic cultivators withdraw, a realm adjusts its time-flow difference with the main world until a passage is reopened. 74 |
| Dimensional instability | Opening or merging a passage can create interference, temporal pollution, spatial tremors, defensive loopholes, and sudden human mutations. 27 |
| Solar-system transit | Civilizations that leave the portion of their solar system contained in a Time Disk may enter another Artificial Divine Realm rather than true deep space. 264 |
War Zone Trials
The War Zone deploys psionic cultivators into Artificial Divine Realms and provides only basic reconnaissance. Its reports can identify surface-level features, but hidden dangers, local power structures, and deeper opportunities must be uncovered by the cultivators themselves. 223
- Trial difficulty is intended to adjust when unforeseen events make an assigned mission substantially more dangerous. 103
- Realms are categorized into types including spiritual-energy resurgence, bizarre resurgence, apocalypses, modern spacetime, high-martial worlds, fallen factions, and servant worlds. 103
- The first trial is notoriously lethal for unprepared entrants, particularly ordinary people lacking survival skills, resources, or methods of using psionic energy. 48
- Reincarnators and reborn cultivators generally possess an advantage because they retain experience from prior Artificial Divine Realm expeditions. 48 113
Connection to the Main World
Stable integration of an Artificial Divine Realm is a major engineering undertaking. Even at the height of the Dayang Civilization, incorporation into Two Realms Mountain required quantum-supercomputing calculations. 27
- Two Realms Mountain — A star-control-scale project that anchors connections between the main world and multiple realms, reducing the instability of temporary passages. 49
- Temporary channels — Can require power from multiple nuclear stations and the coordinated effort of psionic cultivators when disturbances interfere with anchoring. 93
- Main-world support — Connected cultivators can request solidified Daoist Arts, mapping, quantum-fluctuation probes, temporal-line adjustment, and other support by paying psionic energy and handling costs. 246
Known Artificial Divine Realms
| Realm | Distinguishing history and conditions | Notable developments |
|---|---|---|
| Artificial Divine Realm 1909 | Atmospheric psionic-energy utilization is extremely inefficient; native cultivation was therefore limited to myth and legend before outside intervention. 24 | Lan Yi triggered a spiritual-energy resurgence, later becoming known as Immortal Master Lan Yi. The realm developed into the Star Han Martial Arts Empire and achieved extraordinary electromagnetic power generation. 25 100 |
| Artificial Divine Realm 2055 | Its history broadly mirrors the main world through world wars and a Cold War. Free psionic energy is extraordinarily dense, yet native humans display neither psionic energy nor Innate Qi. 108 | The realm became trapped in merciless cycles and ghostly disasters. Following its liberation, its ghost entities and most humans disappeared, leaving only the planet and a small number of survivors. 124 148 |
| Artificial Divine Realm 1638 | Its history diverged near the end of the Song Dynasty after early battlefield use of refined gunpowder. A later supernatural catastrophe halted electrification and enabled transcendent rulers to dominate society. 163 174 | Commoners were reduced to slaves, factory components, food, and playthings for supernaturals. Ji Ning judged the realm beyond salvation, and it was ultimately marked for extinction after a limited rescue. 163 177 |
| Artificial Divine Realm Ship Girl | Alchemical Metal Elixirs enabled humans to store and deploy metal within their bodies. The Battle of Xiangji Temple led to the rise of Cultivators, followed by Fairy Maidens/Ship Girls as a more stable alternative. 218 | The Zhou Tian Alliance established a caste aristocracy dominated by Fairy Maidens. Despite steampunk aesthetics on the surface, part of the realm reached the StarCraft era and built a gravitational travel ribbon called the Galaxy. 218 235 |
| Artificial Divine Realm 2008 | A mutation in solar neutrino emissions heated and melted Earth’s crust, triggering tectonic catastrophe, continent-destroying earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. 262 263 | Twelve Arks were built to preserve 4.8 million people, with wealthy and influential groups prioritized. The River Civilization nearly collapsed after manipulation by the Ocean Civilization. 263 |
| Artificial Divine Realm Megastructure | A colossal, highly developed realm associated with the Divine Destiny Cluster [Yin Wang]. It contains reality and virtual layers, extensive mass-energy conversion technology, and remnants of conflict between Jiang He and Da Yang. 255 259 | Its virtual layers can be nearly indistinguishable from reality, while central AIs regulate, recycle, and recover collapsing layers. 254 289 |
Hazards
Borderlands and Logical Flaws
Some Artificial Divine Realms are incomplete, abandoned, or located beyond the stable “walls.” These borderland realms may contain chaotic space, unstable galaxies, major logical flaws, the Evil God Race, and anti-logic lifeforms. 28
Such locations are generally explored only by desperate cultivators or pioneers willing to accept extreme risks for rare opportunities, including clues to Divine Destiny Clusters. 28
Oppressive Native Orders
Superhuman power does not inherently improve a realm. In many worlds, power becomes the monopoly of a small ruling class, producing systems where ordinary humans are treated as disposable labor, livestock, or property. 97
- Artificial Divine Realm 1638 is an extreme example: supernaturals considered commoners replaceable and systematically dehumanized them. 163
- Artificial Divine Realm Ship Girl developed a caste aristocracy under the Zhou Tian Alliance. 218
- The Great Plague, described as a cancerous growth originating from Artificial Divine Realms, previously harmed both major main-world civilizations and influenced later generations of psionic cultivators. 183
External Contamination
Artificial Divine Realms can affect one another without direct, stable contact. A foreign object, lifeform, or technology may carry contamination across boundaries and create consequences far beyond its apparent size. 233
- The Evil God Race can travel through black holes and use stars for Time Disk travel. 283
- A fallen interstellar civilization’s iterative substance and Ship Girls may be linked to a third party in wider interstellar conflicts. 236
- The Megastructure World contains silicon-based lifeforms, Boundary Crossers, central AIs, virtual layers, and competing claims to human authority. 259 275
Connected Systems and Entities
- War Zone — Deploys psionic cultivators, organizes trials, surveys realms, and maintains the wider Artificial Divine Realm barrier system. It punishes cultivators who commit slaughter or act against the will of heaven rather than merely failing missions. 223 346
- Psionic cultivators — Enter realms to investigate, cultivate, obtain resources, establish systems, rescue populations, conquer hostile forces, or—in extreme cases—exterminate a world. 49 169
- Two Realms Mountain — A main-world megaproject intended to stabilize interrealm connections and enable the rescue of additional Artificial Divine Realms. 148 161
- Jin Buhuan — An omniscient merchant able to roam Artificial Divine Realm walls and enter abandoned or unfinished realms; he supplies secrets and opportunities to main-world cultivators. 26 27
- Divine Destiny Clusters — Rare and dangerous sources of Dao charm whose information and manifestations are repeatedly tied to special Artificial Divine Realms. 28 156
- Demon Gods — Their return is constrained by the spacetime barrier formed from Artificial Divine Realm Time Disk areas. 323 346
Extermination and Liberation
Psionic cultivators assess a realm’s resistance before deciding whether it can be saved, transformed, or destroyed. 169
- Great Flood — For low-technology worlds, melting enough Antarctic ice can create continent-destroying tsunamis capable of ending the existing order. 169
- Demon-Slaying Mirror — A massive orbital weapon assembled from geomagnetic-site devices and deployed against powerful threats. 169 177
- Civilizational intervention — Rather than annihilation, cultivators may share cultivation knowledge, introduce infrastructure, recruit useful populations, or integrate a realm into the main world’s broader civilization. 49 179
- Evacuation and rescue — Even worlds judged unsalvageable may receive a limited rescue before extermination, as occurred in Artificial Divine Realm 1638. 177
