Background

Li Qingcang is a Dragon Kingdom Sword God whose name became synonymous with its highest echelon of Professioners. He once slew Blood Scythe, the Insectoid Empress's seventh lord, alone on the Weeping Blood Plateau—an achievement regarded as unparalleled. Despite his reputation, he can completely restrain his aura and pass for an unremarkable older man. 104

Before formally revealing himself, Li taught Sword Dao at Watch Canyon Secret Realm while disguised as an ordinary old instructor. Yang Yu attended only one lesson yet raised Blade Draw to Level 20, convincing Li that he had found an unprecedented swordsmanship prodigy. 105

Li accepted Yang Yu as his sole personal disciple and immediately began investing enormous resources into his growth. This included a Legendary Skill Book, talent-enhancement scrolls worth five billion, aggressive combat training in Purgatory Scorched Earth, and direct protection against threats from Nihon. 106 118 120

Appearance

Li is usually presented as a handsome, distinguished older man with a restrained presence that conceals his overwhelming strength. When teaching at Watch Canyon, he adopted the appearance of an ordinary, wrinkled, slightly hunched old man. 104 105

  • Carries himself with a straight-backed, imposing military bearing when acting as the Sword God. 120
  • Can alter his appearance through disguise; his Watch Canyon persona was deliberately plain and aged. 105
  • Regained black hair, youthful features, and renewed vitality during Blue Star's mass ascension. 349
  • Later wears dark gray-gold Chaos Armor befitting his Half-Step Transcendence power. 413

Personality

Li Qingcang is boisterous, prideful, and overwhelmingly protective of those he considers his own. He treats attacks on Yang Yu as attacks on himself, responding to Nihon's wanted notice by personally confronting its Legendary Professionals and demanding compensation. 107 111 114

His mentorship is both generous and dangerously aggressive. Li believes that an exceptional disciple should be pushed through real combat rather than allowed to progress cautiously, leading him to capture high-level monsters for Yang Yu to kill and clear an entire military Secret Realm into “experience packs.” 120 124

He has a strong tendency to show off, particularly where Yang Yu is concerned. Li insisted that Yang Yu's disguise resemble his younger self and openly takes pride in his disciple's displays of strength. 143 148 Beneath the bravado, however, he is capable of deep regret and fear for Yang Yu's safety, especially after the World Tower's forced teleportation. 128 134 139

Abilities & Skills

Supreme Swordsmanship

Li is a Sword God whose techniques range from immense battlefield-clearing attacks to precise law-level cuts.

  • His Sword Qi can shatter attacks from other Legendary Professionals with a casual gesture. 111
  • He cut through thousands of monsters in Purgatory Scorched Earth with a single Sword Qi attack. 124
  • His sword intent can remain in a target long after a strike, causing pain even to those who merely touch the cut surface. 292

Mountain River Sever

Li's signature technique condenses Sword Intent and power before invoking spatial laws of severance and cutting. It elevates a physical sword strike to the level of laws. 292

  • He used the threat of this technique to compel Kujo Hoka to yield during the Takamanohara confrontation. 111
  • A seal containing his strongest Mountain River Sever strike was entrusted to Yang Yu as an emergency safeguard. 128
  • He later taught its complete principles to Yang Yu through a Skill Book. 292

Myriad Swords Return to Origin

Li possesses and cultivates Myriad Swords Return to Origin, a sword technique capable of turning surrounding swords into overwhelming offensive power. 125 339

  • He used it to accelerate Yang Yu's leveling in Purgatory Scorched Earth. 125
  • Its advancement was once limited by the extreme proficiency demands of high-level sword arts. 109
  • With Yang Yu's guidance, Li eventually brought his sword skills close to the Level 66 threshold. 339

Spatial Manipulation and Suppression

Li can tear open space, travel through spatial rifts, and overwhelm enemies through raw force and pressure.

  • He tore open space barehanded to take Yang Yu to Imperial Capital's Myriad Treasures Pavilion. 117
  • He captured a Level 105 Gold-grade BOSS from a distant volcano for Yang Yu's training. 122
  • His pressure instantly crippled Takamanohara's extensive defensive system, flattening artillery platforms and magic towers. 111

Abyss Mark Empowerment

After Yang Yu reforged the Abyss Mark system, Li received a gray-gold Demon Eye-shaped mark and a massive influx of pure Chaos energy. 411

  • The mark restored his depleted body and removed prior bottlenecks in his growth. 411
  • He gained resistance that allowed Chaos Sea currents to become absorbable spiritual energy rather than a lethal hazard. 430
  • The power surge carried him into Half-Step Transcendence. 411

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sword of Judgment — A lower-grade replica of Yang Yu's weapon, awarded to Li as a first-kill reward after Cangxuan Dao Ancestor's defeat; it retains a portion of the original weapon's power. 431
  • Ring of Ash — Legendary ring once intended as Yang Yu's apprenticeship gift. It can pull an opponent at or below Silver rank into an independent space and replicate the wielder's strongest strike five times. 106
  • Kunlun Floating Warship — Li's personal warship, equipped with an AI called Kunlun and used for the journey to Nihon. 108
  • Jade Talisman — A talisman containing the seal of Li's strongest Mountain River Sever strike, given to Yang Yu before the World Tower trial. 128
  • Sword Seal — A mark placed on Yang Yu that allows Li to sense his location and attempt a spatial rescue in a crisis. 128

Relationships

  • Yang Yu — His only personal disciple. Li recognized Yang Yu's extraordinary talent, accepted him as his successor, and consistently provides resources, instruction, and uncompromising protection. 105 106 120
  • Elder Wang — Longstanding ally and fellow Dragon Kingdom leader. Elder Wang often restrains or criticizes Li's reckless methods, though both support Yang Yu's growth. 134 141
  • Yun Ruoxi — Legendary Support and principal of Imperial Capital University. Their relationship is marked by familiar bickering, mutual trust, and shared concern for Yang Yu. 145 159
  • Lin Shen / Lin Changsheng — Li's lifelong best friend and rival. Lin Shen's message that Li should abandon thoughts of revenge leaves him visibly devastated. 140 145
  • Kujo Hoka — Nihon's Demon Blade Princess and a Legendary adversary repeatedly overpowered and humiliated by Li during the Takamanohara dispute. 111 114
  • Abyss Players — Li later serves as a prominent commander among the Abyss Players, leading expeditions and rallying them for interdimensional campaigns. 429 430
