Background / History

Former Star Master

Mystra was the Celestial God assigned to the planet that bears her name. As its Star Master and Ether Lord, she established the Magic Net and bound a planetary defense forbidden spell to it. The Ether Society later researched the resulting World-Ending Forbidden Spell, believing it had devastated Mystra across both space and time. 48 294

According to Mystra, the spell was not originally intended to destroy her world. After Quinan plotted against her and she was forced into reincarnation, Quinan, Messenary, and Telodal altered her Planetary Defense Forbidden Spell into the World-Ending Forbidden Spell. They then used Mystra as a barrier and bait to draw in Aberrant Matter. 520

Reincarnation Plan

As Aberrant Matter invaded her Celestial God Authority Rank, Mystra prepared a self-resurrection plan. She created three vessels from personality templates, implanted them with memories and power, and placed them in safe houses on Mystra and Quinan. Her true reincarnation was meant to reclaim their energy and restore her former strength. 506

  • Mystra.White — vessel embodying a “maiden,” lively, gentle, and cute template.
  • Mystra.Orange — vessel embodying a wild, passionate, ruthless, and cruel template.
  • Mystra.Pink — vessel intended to be sharp-tongued, calculating, cold, and mature. 506

Her plan failed when she was ambushed at the Celestial God Reincarnation Gate. Forced into random reincarnation, Mystra could no longer control her new identity or awaken her vessels as intended. White believed Quinan was responsible for the betrayal. 506

Awakening and Return

Roger later identified the Whale Shark King Windermere as Mystra’s reincarnated self. Exposure to the Ether Godstone and Roger’s call awakened Windermere’s buried memories, allowing Mystra to regain consciousness. 512 513

After awakening, Mystra retaliated against Messenary and Telodal with the Ao Star Celestial Flame and returned to the Twin Stars as a projection. She confronted Roger, stabbed him with a Celestial God Sword, then rewarded him with the Ether Magic Robe and Red Medicine Sword for helping awaken her. 513 514

Departure from Mystra

Mystra entered a Celestial God War against Quinan but expelled Roger from the Celestial God Universe when the danger became too great. She later explained the altered World-Ending Forbidden Spell, entrusted Roger with the Four Imperial Swords, and prepared to seek Qu Feng in the Sunken Battlefield for a Second Ascension. 515 520

Before leaving Mystra Planet, she passed the Ether Lord Authority and Mystra’s Star Lord Authority to Roger through Mystra’s Inheritance. She then revoked her projection, leaving Roger as Mystra’s new master. 521

Appearance

Mystra’s returned projection is a short young woman, roughly Sonsonia’s height. Her appearance differs from the image Roger witnessed before her reincarnation; despite her overwhelming Ether aura, she resembles an irritable young lady more than an untouchable deity. 515

  • Short stature.
  • Ample chest and a physically imposing presence.
  • Aggressive, easily angered expression and manner.
  • Constantly surrounded by surging Ether power when exercising authority. 515

Personality

Mystra’s private thoughts reveal loneliness, exhaustion, and lingering guilt toward Xuan. As her planet grew colder and appeared to die, she admitted that she could barely remember human emotions, yet still longed for Xuan’s return. 294

In person, she is imperious, impatient, and blunt. She treats most beings with cold indifference, but her harsh demeanor does not prevent her from protecting those she considers important. She shielded Roger from Quinan’s attack, pulled him into the Celestial God War herself, and later forced him out when remaining would be unsafe. 514 515

Her relationship with Roger is not one of simple master and servant. Although she calls him her chosen one, Mystra describes their bond as closer to equal cooperation. 521

Abilities & Authority

Ether Lord and Star Master Authority

Mystra formerly possessed the Ether Authority of the Nine Great Planets. She turned part of that power into Mystra’s Star Master Authority and incorporated much of the rest into the Magic Net. 610

  • Can exercise planet-scale Ether authority through Mystra’s Star Master system.
  • Created and maintained the Magic Net before her reincarnation.
  • Lost stable control over Mystra’s authority after being forced to reincarnate. 520
  • Passed the Ether Lord Authority and Star Lord Authority to Roger before departing. 521

Projection and Divine Shadow Shift

Mystra’s post-awakening form is a projection cast from the Abyss of Destruction, yet it carries much of the authority and offensive influence of her true form. 514

  • Identified as LV199, a High-Tier Authority Overlord, and a Quasi-Celestial God. 514
  • Recovered most of her former authority immediately upon revival.
  • Can use Divine Shadow Shift, causing her projection to function as a form of true body.
  • Has the survivability of a projection despite possessing Celestial God-level influence.
  • Her domains, authority rank, and other powers remained incompletely restored. 514

Celestial God Arts

Mystra can directly contend with other reincarnated Celestial Gods and employ Celestial God-scale power. 513 515

  • Summoned the Ao Star Celestial Flame to strike Messenary and Telodal across Star Tracks. 513
  • Initiated a Celestial God War against Quinan. 515
  • Bestowed Celestial God’s Protection on Roger, a defensive spell matrix capable of withstanding at least three Celestial God-level attacks. 515
  • Reversed Telodal’s memory wipe on Griffith with a touch. 520

River of Fate Summoning

Mystra was involved in Roger’s arrival in this universe, though she denies being the direct cause of his transmigration. 520

  • Describes herself as the executor of a summoning technique connected to the River of Fate.
  • “Fished” Roger from the River of Fate, giving him a legitimate identity as a Chosen One.
  • Believes Xuan’s trust in Roger despite not fully understanding his multi-universe nature. 520

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Ether Godstone — Mystra’s Celestial God artifact; its light helped awaken her identity within Windermere. 513
  • Ether Magic Robe — artifact bestowed on Roger; grants an LV199 Advanced Mage module, multiple authorities and domains, vast armories, the Book of Myriad Laws, and the Elements Matrix. Ownership remains with Mystra. 513 514
  • Red Medicine Sword — an Immortal flying sword and one of the Four Imperial Swords; Mystra gave it to Roger and temporarily altered its definition so that it was “not a sword.” 514
  • Four Imperial Swords — Mystra transferred their ownership and imprint to Roger before leaving. 520 521
  • Pure Silver Hourglass — mysterious item given to Roger before her departure. 521
  • Secret Bracelet — mysterious item given to Roger before her departure. 521

Relationships

  • Roger — her chosen one and later successor as Star Lord of Mystra. Mystra considers their relationship closer to equal cooperation, protects him during the Celestial God War, and entrusts him with her inheritance. 515 521
  • Windermere — the Whale Shark King whose awakened past identity is Mystra. Mystra’s contract ultimately made Windermere Roger’s servant. 513 521
  • Quinan — former ally and fellow Celestial God who is believed to have ambushed Mystra’s reincarnation. Mystra holds him responsible for plotting against her and modifying Mystra’s defenses alongside Messenary and Telodal. 506 520
  • Xuan — a Celestial God toward whom Mystra felt guilt and longing. Xuan later stated that she had given Mystra the Ether Authority that became the basis for Mystra’s Star Master Authority. 294 610
  • Messenary and Telodal — hostile Celestial Gods who, with Quinan, altered Mystra’s Planetary Defense Forbidden Spell and exploited Mystra’s unstable state. 513 520
  • Mystra.White, Mystra.Orange, and Mystra.Pink — personality-based vessels created for Mystra’s failed self-resurrection plan. 506
  • Griffith — the Sword of Mystra. Mystra reverses the memory wipe placed on him by Telodal. 353 520
  • Emily — mother of the young Mystra whom Roger raised as his adopted daughter during the eleventh historical world. 328
