Background / History

Former Star Master

Mystra was the Celestial God assigned to the planet that bears her name. As its Star Master and Ether Lord, she established the Magic Net and bound a planetary defense forbidden spell to it. The Ether Society later researched the resulting World-Ending Forbidden Spell, believing it had devastated Mystra across both space and time. 48 294

According to Mystra, the spell was not originally intended to destroy her world. After Quinan plotted against her and she was forced into reincarnation, Quinan, Messenary, and Telodal altered her Planetary Defense Forbidden Spell into the World-Ending Forbidden Spell. They then used Mystra as a barrier and bait to draw in Aberrant Matter. 520

Reincarnation Plan

As Aberrant Matter invaded her Celestial God Authority Rank, Mystra prepared a self-resurrection plan. She created three vessels from personality templates, implanted them with memories and power, and placed them in safe houses on Mystra and Quinan. Her true reincarnation was meant to reclaim their energy and restore her former strength. 506

Her plan failed when she was ambushed at the Celestial God Reincarnation Gate. Forced into random reincarnation, Mystra could no longer control her new identity or awaken her vessels as intended. White believed Quinan was responsible for the betrayal. 506

Awakening and Return

Roger later identified the Whale Shark King Windermere as Mystra’s reincarnated self. Exposure to the Ether Godstone and Roger’s call awakened Windermere’s buried memories, allowing Mystra to regain consciousness. 512 513

After awakening, Mystra retaliated against Messenary and Telodal with the Ao Star Celestial Flame and returned to the Twin Stars as a projection. She confronted Roger, stabbed him with a Celestial God Sword, then rewarded him with the Ether Magic Robe and Red Medicine Sword for helping awaken her. 513 514

Departure from Mystra

Mystra entered a Celestial God War against Quinan but expelled Roger from the Celestial God Universe when the danger became too great. She later explained the altered World-Ending Forbidden Spell, entrusted Roger with the Four Imperial Swords, and prepared to seek Qu Feng in the Sunken Battlefield for a Second Ascension. 515 520

Before leaving Mystra Planet, she passed the Ether Lord Authority and Mystra’s Star Lord Authority to Roger through Mystra’s Inheritance. She then revoked her projection, leaving Roger as Mystra’s new master. 521

Appearance

Mystra’s returned projection is a short young woman, roughly Sonsonia’s height. Her appearance differs from the image Roger witnessed before her reincarnation; despite her overwhelming Ether aura, she resembles an irritable young lady more than an untouchable deity. 515

Personality

Mystra’s private thoughts reveal loneliness, exhaustion, and lingering guilt toward Xuan. As her planet grew colder and appeared to die, she admitted that she could barely remember human emotions, yet still longed for Xuan’s return. 294

In person, she is imperious, impatient, and blunt. She treats most beings with cold indifference, but her harsh demeanor does not prevent her from protecting those she considers important. She shielded Roger from Quinan’s attack, pulled him into the Celestial God War herself, and later forced him out when remaining would be unsafe. 514 515

Her relationship with Roger is not one of simple master and servant. Although she calls him her chosen one, Mystra describes their bond as closer to equal cooperation. 521

Mystra formerly possessed the Ether Authority of the Nine Great Planets. She turned part of that power into Mystra’s Star Master Authority and incorporated much of the rest into the Magic Net. 610
