Background / History
The order first bound Zhang Yang as its 982nd Village Chief. In its gray, semi-activated state, it supplied only limited energy-dependent protection, concealment, reconnaissance, and recruitment functions. Its initial recruitment cap was 500 people, and deceased recruits continued to occupy slots 1.
After Zhang Yang obtained a Spider Tribe Civilization Code Blueprint, the order advanced to white quality. Its defensive and scouting area doubled from 10 to 20 square meters and from one to two kilometers respectively, while Vision acquired a purple “fatal” danger classification 9.
Zhang Yang formally placed the order under pressure from the Deer-Headed Demon. It dissolved into white threads, marked a 2,000-square-meter village site, and entered a 108-hour establishment phase. Once the countdown ended, it permanently integrated with the village, created a training ground and barracks, upgraded the Wood Demon Tower, and imposed its long-term survival missions 14 15 20.
The order later became part of a broader hierarchy of village-building systems. The Game Village Building Order could receive 10%–30% of the Fantasy order's accumulated resources, while the prospective Immortal Cultivation order was described as requiring the creation and preservation of a sect for 3,000 years 97 98.
Following repeated upgrades, fusions, and reverse bindings, Zhang Yang discovered that the order was not merely a task system. Its complete form was a Backend Modifier capable of editing the inhabitants, terrain, weather, structures, flora, fauna, and microorganisms within its controlled region—provided it had sufficient Village Building Resources 324 343.
Functions
Concealment, Protection, and Vision
At gray quality, the order could conceal or shield a 10-square-meter area for 1 energy per minute and scan threats within one kilometer for 5 energy per activation 1.
At white quality, these functions became Level 2:
- Concealment — Conceals a 20-square-meter area for 5 energy per minute; deactivates if a dangerous target comes within 10 meters. 9
- Protection — Produces a fixed 20-square-meter shield for 5 energy per minute. If broken, it consumes 10 energy and self-destructs, dizzying targets within 30 meters. 9
- Vision — Scans a two-kilometer radius for 10 seconds at a cost of 20 energy; identifies targets as green, yellow, red, or purple/fatal. 9
Once the village was established, these effects could be distributed through talismans produced by a faith building. Protection and Vision could also operate freely inside the village, while Vision could detect invasion traces 20.
Recruitment and Population Management
The initial order could recruit military and civilian units with energy:
Its recruitment limit was 500, and losses still counted against that cap. Zhang Yang discovered that recruitment could continue during village construction, though this did not itself raise the limit 15 20.
Village Establishment
Placing the white-quality Fantasy order consumed 500 energy and defined an initial 2,000-square-meter territory. It also granted two completed buildings during construction 14.
After establishment, the order:
- Permanently integrated into the village and could no longer be carried.
- Granted 500 energy.
- Created a Level 1 Training Ground and Level 1 Barracks.
- Incorporated and upgraded the Wood Demon Tower to Level 2.
- Activated mandatory and optional village missions. 20
A black-grade upgrade expanded the village territory to one square kilometer and provided two further completed Level 5 buildings 24.
Buildings and Prosperity
The order records structures and converts them into settlement statistics. When Zhang Yang's self-built fortress was added to its system, it unlocked Village Prosperity:
- 10 Prosperity increases Village Livability by 1.
- 100 Prosperity increases Village Cohesion by 1.
- 1,000 Prosperity increases Legend Value by 1.
- 1,000 Livability grants immunity to natural disasters including earthquakes, floods, fires, and droughts. 33
The Level 3 Mountain God Temple allowed the purchase of Level 3 Invisibility, Protection, and Vision Talismans for 100 energy each. It also increased beast-monster combat morale, villager loyalty, and the chance to subdue wild monsters, while introducing a chance of hauntings 40.
Quests and Failure Conditions
After Zhang Yang's first village was established, the order issued four major missions:
- Ensure the village survives for 300 years, with only 20 years to develop it.
- Recruit and seal at least 500 aboriginal residents.
- Collect 10 complete white Fragments of Hope.
- Defeat 15 foreign Village Building Order holders and merge their orders to blue quality within 20 years. 20
Failure of the first mission resulted in obliteration. Once a village was established, the order had a 100% drop rate upon the Village Chief's death unless a qualified successor had been designated 20.
Civilization Conflict
The order tracks civilization codes. If a dropped order's civilization code is fully deciphered, its associated race becomes vulnerable to invasion and possible extinction 20.
After Zhang Yang entered a second-tier civilization battlefield, the system identified his faction as the Sky Dome Human Race and granted a Level 1 War Medal. This medal qualified him to bind neutral, war, and dungeon-type Village Building Orders, while ending mandatory participation in future village-building tasks 163.
Fate Functions
The Fate Village Building Order introduced four principal traits:
- Fate Key — Spends a Fate Key to unlock a chain of fate, destiny, or entanglement; ineffective against Heavenly Gods.
- Fate Guidance — Prevents one certain-death killing intent against Zhang Yang.
- Fate Halo — Protects Zhang Yang from major bad luck.
- Fate Tide — Requires Zhang Yang to correct severe fate imbalances; each success grants a Fate Point, which can purchase one of the other three effects. 333
Backend Modification
In its complete form, the order can act as a world-editing interface. Within the area represented by a Village Building Coordinate, Zhang Yang can alter:
- Lifespans, attributes, and identities of inhabitants.
- Weather and terrain.
- Buildings and other physical features.
- Plants, animals, bacteria, and microorganisms. 343
The scope and intensity of edits are limited by available Village Building Resources. A sub-level coordinate was stated to operate at only 10% effectiveness 343.

Limitations
- Energy powers most early functions; the initial protection shield shuts down when energy is exhausted. 1
- Concealment fails when a dangerous target closes to within 10 meters. 1 9
- Protection is fixed in place rather than mobile. 1 9
- Recruitment caps count the dead, sharply limiting replacement forces. 1 20
- The order's missions can impose obliteration, forced faction choices, or other severe consequences. 20 283
- Resource-intensive editing limits the practical use of the Backend Modifier. 343
- The Fate Village Building Order has no unit buildings, leaving Zhang Yang at a disadvantage against orders that can directly produce forces. 345
