History

Early Village Service

Wu Yuan first appears as an elite spearman fighting beside Duan Jiu against the Giant Black Spiders. The pair uses Gale Pierce to exploit openings created by Zhang Yang, though they cannot approach the spiders through their Ice and Flame Spider Silk barrage 7.

By the time Zhang Yang begins establishing the village, Wu Yuan has become Spearman Captain. He leads elite spearmen in holding back twelve Wild Ox Demons, sustaining serious injuries while helping preserve the defensive perimeter 14. Duan Jiu, his former comrade, later dies fighting the Spider Lord; Wu Yuan subsequently carves the Mountain God statue in a likeness resembling him 40.

Wu Yuan develops the village's spear forces into a coordinated throwing unit. He trains nineteen elite soldiers to make synchronized volleys rather than individual throws, reasoning that a soldier may have only one chance to strike before falling in battle 17. He also personally carves the high-quality wooden spears that allow Zhang Yang to create Imprisonment Spears 18.

Hero's Trial

After the Deer Demon battle, a black-smoke entity infiltrates Wu Yuan's organs and blood, attempting to claim his body as a vessel. Zhang Yang moves him into the Wood Demon Tower and uses his Soul Force Field to locate the possessing entity 23.

During the Hero's Trial, Wu Yuan becomes the chieftain of the Guada Tribe. His main task is to prevent the tribe's annihilation by a Sand Serpent, while one of his side quests requires the tribe to obtain fire 52. The inherited memories of the previous Guada chieftain make him hesitant to confront the dangers outside the tribe's cave, but Zhang Yang pushes him to reclaim the courage expected of the village's “King of Spearmen” 54.

Wu Yuan captures Guy after spotting him near the Guada Tribe, inadvertently helping trigger the escalation from the Hero's Trial to a Lord's Trial 60. While preparing to face the Sabertooth Tiger King, his accumulated killing intent evolves into a Killing Aura Field, marking a decisive leap in his strength 61.

When the village comes under attack, Wu Yuan coordinates defense through flag signals and emergency protocols, deploying archer and infantry squads from the city wall 113. He is cautious rather than reckless. He repeatedly identifies strategic dangers—enemy ambushes, weak defensive positions, food shortages, and the possibility of stronger villages beyond the Orcs—and advocates preparation before battle 18 38 71 86.

Despite his courage, Wu Yuan is not unfeeling. His carving of Duan Jiu's likeness into the Mountain God statue reveals his attachment to fallen comrades, while his later wish for a peaceful life as a farmer shows his exhaustion with endless fighting 40 150.
