Without any further complications, the group quickly arrived near the ruins after the beam of light appeared in the sky.

"This set must be very expensive."

Bai Qiquan sighed.

As the last rays of sunset touched the silvery sand dunes, a corner of the ruins finally emerged.

A magnificent city stands in the desert.

Even though it has been destroyed and weathered, one can still glimpse its former luxury and grandeur.

Bai Qiquan had heard people talk about the ancient city of Loulan before, but he had never paid attention to it. Now, seeing the ruins in the desert, he truly understood what the tombstone of a civilization looked like.

He seemed to smell the dry, sandy, hot wind, and on the small phone screen, the magnificent ruins seemed to emerge, making Bai Qiquan feel as if he were there.

In the study room at the end of the day, he actually felt a bit of heat.

After taking off his coat, Bai Qiquan saw that the others had already entered the ruins to explore.

These buildings have collapsed and weathered away, but there is no trace of anyone.

"Did they move away, or..."

Bai Qiquan muttered to himself as he pondered.

Of course, he didn't forget that this was Lu Ban's movie, so he pulled the phone away a little, afraid that some dried-up corpse might pop out from behind the walls of these ruins to scare people.

To his surprise, none of those things were there.

There was nothing there.

The city seemed utterly silent, which gave it an eerie feel.

Bai Qiquan's heart was in his throat until Lu Ban in the movie discovered the fire.

They are other Wasteland Hunter.

"I know that, it's a classic tactic. They're definitely going to start fighting later, and they might even be captured and forced to explore."

Bai Qiquan thought to himself silently.

He's from a media university, so he's seen a lot of movies.

Just as Lu Ban was standing on the second floor of the building observing the opposite side and preparing to go back to report to his teammates, the camera suddenly switched, and a figure in white suddenly appeared in the center of the screen.

"Grass!"

Bai Qiquan had thought Lu Ban wouldn't do something like this, and had already lowered his guard, but he didn't expect this sudden move. Caught off guard, his phone was instinctively thrown aside and landed on the table with a loud thud.

In an instant, everyone else in the study room turned to look.

"Sorry, I didn't hold it properly."

Bai Qiquan said something and looked at the phone screen on the table.

The figure was of indeterminate gender, with black hair, Pale skin, and completely black eyes without any whites, making it look extremely eerie.

Bai Qiquan knew that this might have triggered the uncanny valley effect. These beings, which resemble humans but are not actually human, can easily cause panic and unease in humans.

He calmed himself down and then saw the white-clad guy mimicking Lu Ban's every move, which looked both bizarre and funny.

"Could it be learning human behavior patterns, and then replacing humans once it has fully mastered them?"

He had a guess in his mind.

The white-clad figure disappeared from Lu Ban's sight. He returned to his companions and was still explaining when the camera shifted to the girl Xiya Ya.

Bai Qiquan saw the white-clad figure reappear behind her.

"!"

He almost dropped his phone again, but luckily it was mostly on the table this time, Bai Qiquan only made a crisp click, which caught the attention of the person at the next table.

"Only the main character can see this. Is there something fishy about it?"

Bai Qiquan felt that the white-clad figure didn't seem human; it was more like some kind of familiar yet indescribable creature. Just looking at it made him feel uncomfortable, with an instinctive resistance.

He continued reading, Lu Ban proposed a strategy that successfully engaged the group of Wasteland Hunter in battle, allowing them to enter the cave in the center of the ruins.

"It's turned into a pirated movie. Could there be a mummy down there?"

Bai Qiquan thought of "The Mummy," which was one of his childhood nightmares. When he went home for summer vacation, his younger cousin, who was still in elementary school, had already stopped watching these movies from the last century, which made him feel very regretful.

As the group moved through the tunnel, Bai Qiquan watched them talk and suddenly felt something was amiss.

"Is someone missing?"

He paused, stepped back, and looked around.

There really is one person missing.

However, the group in the movie seemed oblivious to this and continued their conversation as usual.

There's a problem.

Bai Qiquan noticed that every few sentences of conversation, one person would disappear, yet they remained completely unaware.

The eerie atmosphere sent chills down his spine. Bai Qiquan kept rewinding the video, confirming that someone was indeed missing and that he wasn't seeing things.

In the end, only Lu Ban and one other person remained. After Lu Ban said a sentence, the entire movie fell into a deep darkness.

Then, in the darkness, the figure in white suddenly appeared.

"Holy crap, I knew it! We were really short one person!"

Bai Qiquan couldn't help but mutter something under his breath, then quickly shut his mouth and looked up to make sure he hadn't disturbed anyone else.

But he noticed that there seemed to be fewer people in the study room.

"Um?"

He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination or if there were really fewer people; the study room looked much emptier and quieter.

Bai Qiquan looked next door and realized that the people at his neighboring table had disappeared sometime earlier.

Or was there really someone here before?

Influenced by the plot of the movie, Bai Qiquan also became somewhat uncertain.

"Should we go back to the dorm?"

He glanced at the dark campus outside the window and swallowed hard.

At that moment, Bai Qiquan suddenly noticed that there seemed to be a figure dressed in white looking at him from behind the glass of the classroom window.

"!!!"

The hairs on his body stood on end, a jolt of electricity shot up his spine, and Bai Qiquan instinctively stood up, making a loud noise.

"Outside."

He pointed out the window, drawing the attention of several people.

What's going on outside?

Someone asked a question earlier.

"Didn't you see?"

Bai Qiquan countered with a question.

He looked again at the location where the figure had been, but there was nothing there anymore, only the pitch-black campus, dim and lifeless.

There's nothing there.

Startled by Bai Qiquan's expression, the man followed his gaze but found nothing.

"Are you too tired, classmate? Why don't you go back to your dorm and rest?"

Someone suggested.

"I'm fine."

Bai Qiquan sat back down.

He figured the shadowy figure was probably just an afterimage left on his retina from looking at his phone for too long; after all, it was just a movie and couldn't possibly affect reality.

He continued playing, showing Lu Ban following the figure forward and seeing the mural gradually becoming clearer. Then, the scene shifted through the mural, revealing ancient images: a grand sacrificial ceremony, a prosperous city, and a brilliant civilization—all breathtaking.

But no one knows why this place was destroyed.

Is the cause of this destruction located at the end of this road?

Bai Qiquan pondered for a moment, then glanced up at the classroom again.

He then saw a person dressed in white with black hair standing in front of his table, staring straight at him.
