"No."
Lu Ban said at once.
"An invitation to an isolated island is one hundred percent suspicious."
"Indeed."
Xiya agreed.
"Blizzard Mountain Villa, a train surrounded by disaster, an isolated island far out at sea—these are all ideal settings for a crime."
"What are you two talking about?"
Trist was baffled.
"Don't detective novels have plots like that all the time? A group of people gets invited to an isolated island, or an entire family gathers at a villa deep in the mountains for an old man's funeral. Then a disaster strikes, cutting off communication and transportation, and a series of murders takes place. The killer and everyone else are unable to leave, the police can't arrive, and they have no choice but to start investigating on their own."
Xiya explained it as though it were self-evident.
"Uh, that can only happen in novels."
Trist seemed to understand a little.
"That sort of situation is basically impossible in real life. Even if a typhoon came, communication on an island like that wouldn't be cut off. If there were extreme danger and help was needed, someone would definitely carry out a rescue. We certainly wouldn't leave ordinary people in danger."
After hearing his explanation, Lu Ban felt much more at ease.
At least this was a world that followed logic.
"That couple isn't in good health, so they're going to recuperate on the island. They'll provide the plane tickets and reception services. I took a look—the island is a famous tourist destination, and it isn't typhoon season there right now. There shouldn't be any problems."
Trist said.
"I'll write up a report. We'll organize the information over the next couple of days, then fly there directly."
"Wouldn't that mean we could travel at the same time? Can I come too?"
