Background

Ye Qingxuan grew up in poverty in Linyuan Prefecture’s Southern District, supporting his younger sister Ye Caiwei after their father’s death left behind debts. When Fierce Tiger Hall enforcers arrived over the debt, he shielded Caiwei and began searching for a way to secure their survival 1 3.

He initially survived through caution and deception. By acting frightened before Duan Tianbao, he extended the family’s repayment deadline from five days to ten, buying time to cultivate the Indestructible Vajra Body obtained through the Martial Path Heavenly Machine Codex 3.

His father, Ye Zhen’an, had participated in the destruction of the Myriad Tribulation Sect. Ye Qingxuan later learned that his father and the sect’s leader had once been brothers, and that Ye Zhen’an was apparently murdered after discovering the sect leader’s true ambitions 157 159.

Personality

Ye Qingxuan is calculating under pressure. He uses humility, misdirection, and a deliberately restrained demeanor when direct confrontation would be disadvantageous, but becomes decisive once he identifies a threat to his family or allies 3 176.

His strongest motivation is protecting Caiwei. He repeatedly risks his position, health, and life to stabilize her bloodline, keep her out of political control, and eliminate those who seek to exploit her 139 175 299.

Despite his rise in authority, he remains pragmatic rather than status-driven. He builds intelligence networks, recruits capable subordinates, shares rewards with allies, and treats force as a means of securing order and protecting ordinary people 40 98 123.

Abilities & Skills

Martial Path Heavenly Machine Codex

The Codex quantifies Ye Qingxuan’s cultivation through Merit, records techniques, analyzes enemies and objects, and supplies cultivation guidance.

  • Tracks realms, technique stages, and Merit requirements 12 21.
  • Repairs fatigue and hidden injuries after breakthroughs 12.
  • Identifies weaknesses, cultivation flaws, and unusual energy signatures 246 360 401.
  • Allows the recording of newly encountered techniques, including the Vertical Qi Returning Origin Method 301.
  • Can burn accumulated Merit for a short-lived surge of power, but leaves Ye severely weakened afterward 309.
  • High-level analysis consumes substantial energy and may require specialized power to produce a solution 401.

Indestructible Vajra Body

Ye Qingxuan’s foundational body-refining art. It tempers skin, flesh, sinews, bones, and blood qi into a unified defensive physique.

  • Allows him to absorb attacks and redirect force into the ground or through his body 196.
  • Produces overwhelming lifting and striking strength, including handling thousand-jin stone rollers 137.

  • Later merges in principle with the Great Yan Dragon Elephant Scripture, further advancing his body refinement 392 405.

Mysterious Yellow Qi and Chaos True Qi

Ye Qingxuan’s internal energy originates from the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow cultivation method and develops properties beyond ordinary Inner Qi.

  • Can heal or stabilize Mu Wanjun’s damaged meridians through resonance with her bloodline 188.
  • Its later Chaos True Qi form possesses self-recovery properties and withstands techniques intended to devour internal energy 394.
  • Unstable golden and yellow energies can damage his own meridians if not carefully controlled 180 301.

Blade, Throwing, and Movement Techniques

Ye Qingxuan relies on direct, efficient combat methods rather than ornate martial displays.

  • Thirteen Blades of Fengtian — Mastered official blade art; its Wind Slash produces cutting blade-wind, while later Inner Qi allows ranged force projection 121 220.
  • Locust Throwing Technique — A throwing art mastered through the Codex; used to exploit Wu Haihua’s old wound while under a Qi Sea Realm Domain 121 163.
  • Inch-Ruler Blade — A precise killing technique used to pierce Xue Tong’s dantian 196.
  • Flowing Cloud Footwork — Improves mobility and evasive movement, especially against poison and ranged attacks 183 185.
  • Mountain Suppressing Demon Slaying Blade — Its “Mountains and Rivers Shattered” move embodies his pure strength and killing intent 254.
  • All Beings’ Blade Intent — A later blade intent Ye Qingxuan seeks to bring to its peak before confronting True Grandmaster Zhao Qianqiu 402.

Concealment and Adaptation

  • Primordial Unity Qi Art — Harmonizes yin and yang energies, stabilizes cultivation, and nurtures Spiritual Sense 278 291.
  • Pure Heart Universal Salvation Mantra — An auxiliary soul-targeting method used to free Imperial Army soldiers controlled by Blood Demon Seeds 344.

Great Yan Dragon Elephant Scripture

An imperial body-refining art sharing an origin with the Indestructible Vajra Body.

  • Draws Dragon Vein energy to temper the body and develop dragon-elephant strength 392.
  • Activated in complete form when Ye Qingxuan united the paired Ye-family jade pendants 395.
  • Reached an unprecedented perfected state through Dragon Vein Jade Marrow and Caiwei’s blood, producing a near-indestructible divine body 405.

Story Role

Rise in Linyuan’s Southern District

Ye Qingxuan begins as a poor young man trying to repay Fierce Tiger Hall debt while feeding and protecting Caiwei. After obtaining the Heavenly Machine Codex, he endures harsh body tempering and joins the Fengtian Division’s patrols, turning cultivation into his route out of poverty 3 11 12.

His growing strength brings him into conflict with Duan Tianbao, Zhang Lingxiao, and the criminal groups dominating the Southern District. He earns official recognition through dangerous assignments, defeats Zhang Lingxiao in a single exchange, and rises to Deputy Lieutenant 70 72.

Fengtian Division Advancement

Ye Qingxuan earns the reputation “King Yama Ye” by taking dangerous missions, then uses his achievements and political judgment to form a direct team under the Fengtian Division 77 98. His promotions continue through Lieutenant, Deputy Chief Constable, and command over the Southern City District 102 106.

As his authority expands, he builds a street-level intelligence network and uses it to expose gang activity, official corruption, and Myriad Demon Sect infiltration 123 175.

War Against the Myriad Demon Sect

The Myriad Demon Sect becomes personal when Ye Qingxuan learns it seeks to use Caiwei’s Shaoyang Bloodline as a cauldron for the sect leader’s Yin-Yang Transformation technique 159. He raids sect dens, uncovers evidence of bribed Fengtian officials, and repeatedly confronts stronger enemies while protecting Caiwei from being seized 157 163 175.

He ultimately kills the sect leader at great personal cost, spending three days unconscious afterward. His victory helps secure Linyuan Prefecture but also places him under greater scrutiny from the imperial court 179 180.

Capital Journey and Divine Marquis Campaign

Ye Qingxuan resigns his Linyuan post to travel to the capital in disguise, taking Caiwei with him and relying on the Wan family caravan for passage 237 238. There he learns that Caiwei’s bloodline is tied to the Imperial Advisor’s schemes, the Dragon Vein, and the wider legacy of the Myriad Tribulation Sect 263 264.

After reaching the Qi Sea Realm, he organizes the Divine Marquis Mansion, suppresses sect remnants across regions, destroys Myriad Demon Sect bases, and begins removing Dragon Suppressing Demon Nails from Great Yan’s damaged Dragon Vein 278 281 283.

Demon Abyss, Reconstruction, and Imperial Conflict

During the Demon Abyss crisis, Ye Qingxuan shields others from the black sun’s destruction and survives severe injuries. He becomes Regent Divine Marquis, while Li Xinyue’s soul is revived through Caiwei’s use of the Sky Mending Stone 328.

He later returns to Linyuan seeking a quieter life with Mu Wanjun, but evidence that his father’s tomb is empty and that the Myriad Tribulation Sect remains embedded within the court draws him back into conflict 349 350.

In the capital, Ye Qingxuan uncovers imperial conspiracies, finds Ye Wan in the Cold Palace, activates the Great Yan Dragon Elephant Scripture, and reaches the Quasi-Grandmaster Realm to oppose Zhao Yuanke and defend the Dragon Vein 395 403 405.
