Districts and Landmarks

• Southern District — A poor, crowded, and disorderly area once dominated by gangs such as the Green Fish Gang and Fierce Tiger Hall. It contains a Fengtian Division substation and was Ye Qingxuan's original patrol area. 5 6 205

History

Linyuan initially suffers from severe inequality and weak public order. The Southern District is associated with poverty and gang exploitation, while Pear Blossom Alley serves wealthy patrons. The Fengtian Division struggles to contain extortionists and criminal groups operating openly in the city. 6

The Myriad Demon Sect becomes deeply entrenched in Linyuan through hidden outposts, alchemy dens, merchant fronts, corrupt officials, and infiltrators within the Fengtian Division. Its influence reaches both the underworld and the official system, allowing it to operate in the city for years. 148 157 188

Following the deaths of the sect's leaders and Shen Wanjin's defeat on the ancient battlefield, the Fengtian Division and city guards purge identified sect strongholds. Gang activity declines, factional infighting within the Division eases, and civilians begin to experience greater security. 229

This peace is repeatedly challenged. The Myriad Demon Sect attempts to poison Mirror Heart Lake, while the Poison Sect later targets the city's water supply at Bailong Pool and Clear Wind Spring. The city also becomes connected to a crisis involving Dragon Vein Malevolent Qi beneath Linyuan. 234 243 245 259

After Ye Qingxuan leaves for the Capital City, Prefect Wu dies under suspicious circumstances, criminal forces resurface, and the city descends into disorder. Ye returns, re-establishes the Divine Marquis Mansion in Linyuan, assumes control of the Fengtian Division, and removes corrupt constables. 274

Linyuan is later occupied and infiltrated by rebel remnants and Demon Cult forces. The Earth Law Branch Sect seals the city gates during a demonic crisis, and fighting leaves the western city devastated. Li Xinyue ultimately sacrifices herself to save the entire city. 300 311 319

After the war, Mu Wanjun oversees reconstruction. Destroyed buildings are cleared, streets are repaved, businesses reopen, and residents erect longevity statues of Ye Qingxuan in gratitude for his protection. 320 329

Governance and Security

Fengtian Division

The Fengtian Division serves as Linyuan's main constabulary and military policing force. Its Southern District substation includes temporary constables, official constables, patrol units, and Chief Constables. 5 13

• Ye Qingxuan rises from a temporary constable to Deputy Chief Constable, receiving authority over the Southern and Northern Districts and the right to execute suspected traitors before reporting in urgent cases. 219

Divine Marquis Mansion

After returning to a destabilized Linyuan, Ye Qingxuan re-establishes the Divine Marquis Mansion and converts the former Fengtian Division yamen into its base of authority. 274 280
