Faced with this Sun-Ring Wizard from the Academic Alliance in the Starfield Sea, Kent, Bella, Grandet, and Patrick Keaton all looked astonished. So did the twenty-odd Star-Ring Wizards of the Swampfolk Club. They exchanged disbelieving glances.
Locke had come to Rain-Marsh to challenge their club. Now a Sun-Ring Wizard from the Starfield Sea had appeared before them and handed them four invitations to something called the First Probus Truth Revelation Competition. How had Locke gained that much influence?
After a brief, stunned silence, Grandet, the portly board member, bowed to the Sun-Ring Wizard and accepted the invitations.
"I never thought this would attract the attention of those above us. Is it because Wizard Locke Augustine and the Swampfolk Club challenged each other that the Starfield Sea considers it a contest worth celebrating?"
The Sun-Ring Wizard said nothing.
He seemed to think the question needed no answer.
Patrick Keaton looked thoughtful.
"From what I've heard, the Eastern Sector Competition Committee is looking for resources across the major wizard territories that could be turned into competitions. I suspect Locke contacted one of its members. That would explain this."
Patrick bowed to the Sun-Ring Wizard as well.
"My lord, if someone wins a competition of this level, what reward will they receive? Will they gain recognition from the Starfield Sea?"
The Sun-Ring Wizard with the red fringe smiled. "Locke Augustine is organizing this competition with the assistance of the Eastern Sector Competition Committee. How many editions it will have, and how prestigious it will become, depend on what happens later.
"But this competition is recognized by every White Wizard Association in the Eastern Sector and has been classified as a medium-scale event. The Competition Committee will also actively bring in commercial and academic resources. In every respect, then, this is a medium-scale competition
