Quinn Joel University was located on Sacred Spring Mountain, which had earned its name because of it. Legend had it that the spring possessed a special power capable of unlocking the deepest potential buried within people's hearts.
Before leaving, Wizard Hayes had proudly mentioned to Locke that as soon as his mentor Barbatos became a Third-Ring Wizard, he had arranged for Hayes to enter Quinn Joel University's Fountain of Wisdom.
Locke watched Wizard Hayes leave, then raised his brows with a smile and murmured, "No matter how he puts it, Wizard Hayes is really just talking about how much his Third-Ring Wizard mentor, Barbatos, helped him become a Second-Ring Wizard."

Wizard Hayes had followed Wizard Barbatos ever since becoming a Formal Wizard, all the way until Barbatos became a Third-Ring Wizard. From then on, his life had been on easy street.
He had chosen the right person to follow.
But judging from his description, becoming a Second-Ring Wizard required an enormous amount of resources—
The chance to drink from the Fountain of Wisdom, reputed to be the second-greatest in the world, a colonization license...
Perhaps there were even more resources that Locke didn't know about.
