As the Overlord Fern Spear plunged toward the deepest reaches of the Kunguding Bastion, Wizard Mike could only keep adjusting the Spell Model for Wall-Building Spell. He rearranged the bastion's interior, reassembling walls created by Constructor spells to stop the spear from reaching its core.
"What spell is that? He never used it during the earlier matches!" Mike had thought he had weathered Locke's strongest attack. The moment he let his guard down, Locke struck with a spell this powerful.
It came so fast that Mike was caught off guard.
A Constructor's strength lay in meticulous architectural design, in the strategic value and contribution he brought to a team of wizards on the battlefield, and in the utility of his spells. Faced with a sudden attack like this, though, even Mike was at a loss for a moment.
Fortunately, the Kunguding Bastion was an exceptionally powerful spell.
Mike had taken a clever approach to this competition. His Permanent Defense Field could protect only himself and did little to strengthen the bastion.
As a Constructor, most of his combat strength lay in this structure. If he could overcome the slow casting speed, weak one-on-one combat ability, and lack of burst power common to Constructors, everything else worked in his favor.
Mike hurriedly chanted an incantation and activated the bastion's final defensive work, which he had designed long ago: Rotating Maze.
The central control room where he stood began moving beneath the bastion. At the same time, he shifted several decoy rooms in the maze upward, hoping to fool Locke and gain some protection from them.
The walls of each room had been made with Rock Wall, a First-Ring Constructor Spell Model. Condensed from dense magical energy, these Earth Element walls would not collapse even under the extreme gravity of the Earth
