Background / History
Tyberos is the Chapter Master of the fleet-based Mako Chapter, a loyal but closely monitored Astartes force whose extreme methods and conflicts with the Adeptus Mechanicus have placed it on a high-risk loyalist list. The Chapter compensates for its irregular supply situation through aggressive acquisition of arms, relics, Dreadnoughts, Terminator armour, and recruits; its numbers exceed Codex limits. 60 61
During the conflict with the Chaos-corrupted Star Phantoms, Tyberos leads the Mako Chapter to Les Planet and coordinates with other loyalist forces. He rejects the fallen Chapter Master Draken's offer of power and immortality, dismissing him as a coward and scum. 59 61
Following the campaign, Tyberos pursues a permanent development base for his Chapter. He orders the conquest of a planet to secure tithes, recruits, provisions, and industrial capacity, then personally reviews its leadership and removes most administrators after uncovering xenos trade. 83 84
His embrace of Nano Core technology becomes a major turning point. Tyberos pushes to have Mako Chapter warriors among the first recipients, only to react with fury when a possible Type II Civilization backdoor threatens to compromise the implanted warriors. Tie Hui later promises him a share of future weapons production and a place in the campaign against that civilization. 121 122
Appearance
Tyberos is a massive Astartes who commonly wears ancient Indomitus Tactical Dreadnought Armour reinforced by shark-themed Nano Core armour. Without his helmet, he has a pale face; in battle, his modified silhouette is deliberately predatory and intimidating. 139 157
- His Terminator helm is modified into a gaping shark maw surrounding a half-skeletal facial guard. 139
- Nano-particles form layered armour across the gaps in his plate, including a defensive layer around his black carapace. 126
- Monomolecular blades deploy from his forearms, ankles, elbows, back, and joints like shark fins. 138 182
- A fin-shaped engine array and micro-nozzles enable high-mobility flight and controlled planetary descent. 138
- His armour can manifest a thick nano-shield capable of suppressing the explosive force of bolter impacts. 182
Personality
Tyberos is calm and unyielding when confronted by Chaos. He refuses Draken's temptation without hesitation and remains focused on reinforcements, battlefield priorities, and the safety of his Chapter. 61
He is intensely pragmatic about resources. His Chapter's poverty, its need for weapons and recruits, and the risk of being denied future spoils repeatedly drive his decisions; this makes him eager to secure technology, industrial capacity, and salvage. 83 87 122
Despite this acquisitive streak, Tyberos is vigilant toward threats to his warriors. He reacts furiously to the prospect that Nano Core backdoors could turn his Battle-Brothers against one another, and he remains suspicious even when Imperial reinforcements arrive, preparing defensive measures until their legitimacy is proven. 121 232 234
Abilities & Skills
Fleet Command and Tactical Planning
Tyberos is an experienced fleet commander who combines Mako Chapter assault doctrine with rapid battlefield analysis.
- Developed and directs the Mako Chapter's “Shark Bite” tactics, using aggressive breaches and coordinated close-range attacks. 60 157
- Proposes a counter-encirclement plan that divides the enemy fleet and forms a “colossal claw” around its command center. 157
- Uses Smart AI-supported information processing to direct fleet formations described as “fishing nets” and “whips,” devastating the Warner Civilization's forces. 158
- Commands boarding operations rather than relying solely on ship-to-ship firepower, including forced ramming assaults against Chaos vessels. 220 226
Nano Core Augmentation
Tyberos possesses a First-Generation Nano Core and shark-pattern nano armour.
- Forms condensed nano-shields and armoured layers over his Tactical Dreadnought Armour. 182
- Uses micro-engines for aerial mobility despite wearing Terminator armour. 138 182
- Deploys nano missiles, returning blades, and monomolecular edges from his armour. 182 205
- His enhancement has a severe endurance flaw: prolonged combat drains his biological cells, and nano-toxins require periodic treatment in nano-biological cell solution. 153 205
Close-Quarters Combat
Tyberos is a highly aggressive melee fighter capable of holding positions against superior numbers.
- Fights with the relic Power Claws Hunger and Thirst, which can draw on Warp energy and absorb souls to sustain their function. 60 227
- Uses monomolecular blades and an autonomous monofilament dagger that separates into multiple long blades to disable enemies internally. 182
- Kills Nano Vanguards, Iron Warriors, Chaos daemons, and a Blood God Daemon in direct combat. 140 182 205
- Continues fighting after severe injury and the damage of his ancient Tactical Dreadnought Armour. 140
Boarding and Solo Assault
Tyberos specializes in close-range ship assaults and destructive sabotage.
- Leads Mako Chapter warriors through void approaches using individual Nano Core engines rather than conventional boarding torpedoes. 204
- Destroys a Chaos destroyer by sabotaging its macro cannon system with melt bombs and timed explosives, escaping the blast behind a nano-shield. 205
- Uses pack tactics to focus enemy attention while his warriors breach and destroy warships. 204
