Background / History

Moduo inherited the Ghost Emperor Palace lineage and became one of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. Before the main events, his lineage had lost two consecutive contests at the sixty-year gathering of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors; a third defeat would remove it from their ranks. Seeking to avert this outcome, he spent years combining the lineage’s arts into a system meant to unify the Six Paths, govern reincarnation, and determine life and death. 508

He had two wives and was regarded as a devoted lover. Early reports claimed that his second wife had been abducted into Forsaken God Valley, driving him to seek the Heavenly Origin Chess Manual as a means of saving her. His disappearance near Forsaken God Valley became a major concern across the Southern Region. 288 362

Later, Chu Qing exposes that Moduo had known his first wife was killed by his second wife and that the woman by his side had been replaced. Rather than being an unwitting victim of the Heavenly Evil Cult, Moduo had allowed its members to believe they controlled him through the Heavenly Demon Mind Control Art. 498

Before his recovery, Moduo appears older and severely worn down: white-streaked hair, a haggard face, and visible signs of physical strain. Despite this, he remains handsome. 495

His stated concern for the world contrasts with his readiness to let the Southern Region suffer under the Heavenly Evil Cult and to murder his own daughter. When challenged, he reacts with imperial arrogance and rage rather than remorse. 498 508
