• Shade learned Apothecary Miss was a descendant of Edwardz, then reported the family history to Miss Danist, who asked him to find surviving Edwardzes and warned him about suspicion that he was the Chosen One of Space.
• Shade attended a diplomatic banquet with Miss Galina, spoke with Angelina about the Green Lake dispute, and killed two attackers who had broken into a room with Angelina.
• Shade investigated Green Lake, caught Rotten Tail Fish, destroyed a Water Ghost Nest, and recovered Green Ridge Ore and a rusty fountain pen from its wreckage.
• Shade learned that Dorothy and Leisha could communicate across space without swapping souls, then Luvia warned that either becoming the Chosen One of Space could make them transform into Two-in-One.

Shade investigated the Edwards Family graves on Green Lake Island, clashed with the Invisible Man, and uncovered a lead on the grave robbers. He also continued the Journey through the Snow Mountain story before returning to Green Lake to pursue the Black Rats gang.

• Shade and the Apothecary Miss sought her ancestors’ graves on Green Lake Island, where a soul revealed that Klein Edwards had reached the Thirteenth Ring and they found traces linking grave robbers to the Watsont family.
• Er Harken pursued Shade and the Apothecary Miss through the graveyard, but Shade escaped with her after a Dimension Slash injured him.
• Shade learned from Luvia that Klein Edwards’s true name was Laplace Klein Howard, a Twelfth Ring Diviner who had betrayed the Seer Association.
• Shade returned to the past and joined Areira Andreana, Clara, Zaffir Yellen, and Dika Enriques on the Journey, where the travelers faced a Djinn, the dead, and a desert of illusions.
• Shade and the travelers survived a sandstorm, and the journey left Clara awakened as a witch before Shade returned to the present.
• Shade warned Miss Galina, Iluna, the Church, and other allies about the danger around Green Lake, then asked Miss Danist to identify Laplace Klein Howard.
• Shade traveled back to Green Lake and learned from Barry that the Black Rats gang had visited the island three years earlier on an Outlander’s orders.

Shade helped contain a dangerous coffin relic and pursued the mystery of Durut Giles, the Grave Robbers, and Rotten Eye Barry. In Green Lake, he and Megan uncovered Barry’s Water Ghost operation and a laboratory connected to the Edwards Family, where they found a living heart and documents.

• Shade helped Professor Brownell investigate Durut Giles, then learned that tiny metal pieces from a Traveling Merchant’s goods were derivatives of Feynman’s Vault.
• Shade and Doctor Schneider’s team transported the black coffin through Tobesk, fought attackers and supernatural disturbances, and contained the corpse after it rose and exposed Shade to Whisper, Indifference, and Void.
• Aisha Eisberg took the sealed coffin for Saint Byrens, while Iluna met If and learned of a simulated future in which Shade did not exist.
• Shade traced the Grave Robbers’ stolen objects to Green Lake, identified Rotten Eye Barry as a Drowning Order cultist, and learned more about Durut Giles and the cursed expedition.
• Shade rescued Dorothy and Leisha after their souls overlapped, sacrificing his Library Retrieval sorcery, and later reconciled with Leisha before planning Green Lake operations with Galina.

Shade defeated Rotten Eye Barry beneath Green Lake, absorbed the God of Drowning in the Deep Sea’s divinity, and faced the emotional indifference it left behind. He then pursued the island’s mysteries and the Edwardz family’s bloodline while investigating a missing grave robber, Durut Giles.

• Shade and Megan found evidence of Barry’s links to the Drowning Order, the Unifier, and other secret groups, then discovered a route to Another Island through his voyage logs.
• Barry attacked Shade and Megan with Water Ghosts, but Shade destroyed Barry by tearing the Pale Heart from his chest and continued falling into the lake’s abyss.
• Shade encountered the God of Drowning in the Deep Sea, accepted its divinity, and rose from the lake, revealing a hidden island before the Church’s forces arrived.
• Shade told Luvia about the battle and sought Haila Osenfott’s counsel about his emotional indifference, receiving the thaumaturgy Passionate Ice and reassurance that his love endured.
• Shade gave Miss Galina coded documents linking Barry’s gang to Military Intelligence Section Six and the Gray Gloves, and she warned that factions might provoke war between Delarion and Kasonlik.
