When the Church’s giant Fire Seed drew Wei Ge’s consciousness into Reality, Shade followed and joined the battle against the Construct Master’s golem.

• Shade and Mr. Finch investigated disappearances in the sewers, where Shade destroyed a Life Aberration and found evidence that Twisted Life Fire Seeds were creating more monsters.
• Shade learned that the Creation Church had researched Mechanical Animation and Life Fire Seeds, while Doctor Schneider and Mr. Corps gave him a lead on Active Metal.
• Wei Ge and Shade opened Lady Le May’s alchemical box, finding her Eye of True Knowledge and an unknown man’s Skin Object, which Miss MacDonald recognized as a dangerous Relic Derivative.
• At the Nightingale Club auction, thieves stole an antique monocle, and Shade followed Miss Pawo as she fought the Demon Eye Club, and she identified Lady Le May as the Truth Society’s former Baroness.
• Shade and his allies investigated the Skin Object and the Church’s Fire Seed plans, while he learned that the stolen monocle might be a container for Kindling and that the Church could be trying to animate mechanical bodies.
• When the Church’s giant Fire Seed awakened, Wei Ge lost consciousness, and Shade sent his consciousness toward it before creating a living vessel to enter Reality.
• Iluna and Church forces fought machines rampaging through the headquarters as Gerald Delong’s fifty-meter golem emerged with a Fire Seed in its chest.
• The Construct Master declared his defiance of the Church, and Wei Ge’s consciousness merged with the new Fire Seed as Shade’s Flame Giant fought the golem and faced its scarlet Life Energy blast.

Shade uncovered the truth behind Wei Ge’s lineage and the Perfect Child while the Church, Saint Alliance, and Demon Eye Club pursued the Kindling. After facing Professor Reinhart in the Doomsday Era, Shade entered the Foul Blood Factory with three Witches, where a prayer granted him new powers and Miss Bladewei shared the secret of the Sharp Eye Technique.

• Shade learned that the Church’s Fire Seed Source was incomplete, warned Wei Ge about the threat, and helped report the danger to the Witch Council.
• Shade discovered that Peggy Le May and her avatar had created the Perfect Child, then helped Wei Ge investigate her parents’ grave and uncover a ritual slab linked to The Truth Society.
• Adele defeated the Infant-Holding Holy Mother’s manifestation, and Shade comforted Wei Ge as she struggled with what she had learned about her mother.
• Shade fought successive forms of Professor Reinhart in the Doomsday Era, killed the final form, and found the Ring of Fate representing Myriad Phenomena.
• Shade entered the Foul Blood Factory, reunited with Gina, Madam Gustav, and Miss Bladewei, and joined their search for the third Furnace while they investigated the factory’s Life Fire Seeds and dangers.

In Arcadia City, Shade and Wei Ge traced a Wither-related killing to a Night Watchman and found themselves caught between powerful factions as Hermons and Gerald Delong fought.

• Shade and the Witches defeated the Giant Baby in the Blood Mist, recovered a used Life Furnace, and transformed its metal eye into a Fire Seed Source.
• Shade and his companions escaped the Shadow of Withering, and the Fire Seed Source left a mark on his palm that granted him immunity to Wither and let him sense other sources.
• Shade studied life creation with Feliana and the Witches, then returned to the Sixth Epoch and tried to use Life Force to hatch the Moon Egg with Daniste.
• The Doctor asked Shade to investigate disappearances among Arcadia City’s nobility, suspecting that Valesius and the Withering Demon were nearby.
• Shade and Wei Ge investigated an unidentified corpse whose Life Force had been withered, then followed its blood trail to the city sewage plant.
• A Night Watchman revealed that a ring had reignited his Life Fire and that he had killed people to keep it warm, before using their stored Life Force in a corpse giant’s explosion.
• The Church traitors, The Truth Society, and the Blood Spirit School gathered the released Life Energy, while Shade took the Night Watchman’s Withering Fire ring after he died.

Shade and Wei Ge investigated Life Fire Seeds, Lady Red Stone’s research, and the Skin Objects gathering around Arcadia. After a theater performance exposed a hidden evil object and an animated Pipe Organ, the group split up to search for it.

• Shade ambushed Weeper of Blood Hermons with Wei Ge’s help, then fought Hermons again as he fled through poisonous mist and tried to steal Shade’s Fire Seed Source.
• Gerald Delong told Shade that the last life born into the world could bring its end, and Shade traded him a talisman for information about Nicola Le May and the Emerald Record.
• Flora and Wei Ge uncovered a hidden laboratory beneath Grey Rock Pass, where Wei Ge found her mother’s letter and collected a Twisted Life Fire Seed from a revived corpse.
• Shade met Mr. Mercury of the Emerald Alchemy Association, exchanged information about the Emerald Record, and received Lady Red Stone’s Black Notebook and alchemy notes.
• Wei Ge used the notebook’s technique to store Life Force in her eye, then took Shade to the opera, where Winnie exposed a woman wearing a Skin Object.
