Doctor Schneider and the one-eyed brothers were both stunned. They had not reacted in time, and since their last meeting had been years ago, they had only instinctively felt that the other party looked familiar. But very quickly, all three of them recognized who stood before them almost at the same time:

Without a second thought, the brothers clasped hands, stepped back, and entered a mirror that had abruptly appeared behind them. Then, amid the sound of shattering glass, they vanished from where they stood. Doctor Schneider stared at the scene in shock, then looked around in confusion. Only after confirming that they had left did he take off his hat and walk toward the inn entrance.
Seeing Shade standing there watching him, the doctor waved to him without asking what the two men had come here for.
