final answer. In a forest within Konohagakure, night had already fallen, and a child of about three years old was still training here.
"Damn it, why still can't I do it?"
Yewuyue sat up from the ground in frustration. He had just been practicing the Flash Step he earned from signing in a few months earlier, but progress was slow. He had been training here for a full week, yet had made virtually no headway, and now even the sky had turned dark.
Since the day he showed his strength to Fugaku, Fugaku had basically stopped checking on his training, leaving it up to him. He even duplicated a number of clan jutsu scrolls for him to study, so his regard for Yewuyue could be said to surpass even that of Itachi.
"Isn't Flash Step just like the Body Flicker Technique, attaching spiritual energy to the feet as chakra to achieve high‑speed movement? Why can't I make it work?"
Yewuyue kept trying the method the system gave him, but never succeeded even once, and he couldn't understand why.
"System, is there something wrong with the training method you gave? I just can't learn Flash Step using this approach."
"A system product is always top‑grade; failure to learn is the host's problem and has nothing to do with the training method this system provides!"
The mechanical voice of the system rang out, refusing any responsibility.
Yewuyue was about to say something else when a sudden noise came from the forest nearby, and he instantly went on guard.
Bakudō Twenty‑Six, Curved Light!
Yewuyue's form was cloaked, his entire body vanished from sight as he leaned against a tree.
Suddenly, several ninjas wearing Kumogakure headbands burst from the forest, leaping among the trees; one of them was carrying a black‑haired, white‑eyed little girl on his shoulders.
Hinata!
Yewuyue instantly recognized the girl the Kumogakure ninjas were bearing—she was the princess of the Hyuga main family, Hyuga Hinata.
He also recalled the whole plot: a Kumogakure diplomatic delegation had come to Konohagakure for negotiations, but midway they turned rogue, sneaking into Hyuga territory to kidnap Hyuga Hinata in order to obtain the Byakugan. Hyuga Hiashi chased them down and slaughtered all the Kumogakure kidnappers, yet the Kumogakure envoys slandered him and falsely accused him of killing their ninjas. In the end, the weak Third Hokage chose to have the Hyuga clan give Kumogakure an explanation, and as a result Hizashi Hyuga—Neji's father—lost his life.
Now that the Fourth Hokage is still alive, they still dare to do this—what nerve! Yewuyue couldn't help but marvel at their audacity.
But if he could rescue Hinata, that would be like gaining the Hyuga clan's goodwill, right? Worth it!
Yewuyue made an instant decision: even if he couldn't fully save her, buying a little time would be enough.
Hadō Thirty‑One, Crimson Fire Cannon!
He abandoned the chant for Hadō #31 and aimed it straight at the Kumogakure ninja carrying Hinata.
Who!
The sudden voice startled the Kumogakure ninjas; they turned around in shock, and a medium‑sized fireball struck the ninja carrying Hinata.
The ninja let out a muffled grunt as his body was blasted away, and Hinata fell as well.
Bakudō Thirty‑Seven, Hanging Star!
A hammock made of spiritual energy materialized in midair, slowing Hinata's descent.
Yewuyue hurried forward to catch her, but at that moment his own form became visible.
The Kumogakure ninjas were shocked to see him, but quickly steadied themselves and launched an attack together.
Lightning Release: Lightning Balls!
One Kumogakure ninja used the technique, firing several silver‑white lightning balls at Yewuyue, while the others hurled kunai and shuriken.
Bakudō Thirty‑Nine, Circular Gate Fan!
A circular protective shield appeared in front of Yewuyue, blocking the incoming jutsu. After another year of training, he had mastered higher‑ranked Hadō and Bakudō.
Bakudō Twenty‑One, Crimson Smoke Technique!
A massive plume of smoke erupted from Yewuyue's body, completely concealing his form. He used it to change direction, sprinting toward Hyuga territory, where the chance of encountering Hiashi was greatest—he needed Hiashi to see that he had rescued Hinata.
However, lacking Flash Step or Body Flicker Technique, Yewuyue was quickly caught up to, and the Kumogakure ninjas surrounded him.
"I never imagined Konohagakure could produce such a prodigy. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it—only three or four years old and already capable of rescuing someone from a whole squad of our ninjas. If you keep growing, you'll become another yellow flash!"
The Kumogakure ninja he had just injured with the Crimson Fire Cannon said bitterly.
Yewuyue saw this but remained completely unflustered; if Hiashi didn't arrive soon, he intended to pull out his Flowing Blade of Fire and finish off those Kumogakure ninjas.
Kill him quickly, or the Hyuga side will chase after us.
Another Kumogakure ninja frowned and warned, and the others grabbed kunai and rushed at Yewuyue; they dared not use ninjutsu for fear of harming Hinata.
Yewuyue was about to set Hinata down and draw his Zanpakutō when a Konohagakure ninja in white clothing arrived, causing Yewuyue to abandon the plan.
Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm!
Two white air palm strikes hit the two Kumogakure ninjas nearest to Yewuyue, killing them outright.
"Uncle Hiashi, it's Sasuke, I rescued Hinata!" Yewuyue shouted quickly. He had seen Hiashi in the village before, and Hiashi knew him as the second son of the Uchiha family.
"Thieving vermin! How dare you steal my daughter!"
Seeing the Kumogakure ninjas, Hiashi became extremely angry; after all, she was his only precious daughter.
But within moments, Hiashi's fury wiped out all the Kumogakure ninjas—none survived.
"Uncle Hiashi, here."
Yewuyue handed Hinata to Hiashi; perhaps the Kumogakure ninjas had used a sedative, because despite the commotion Hinata was still unconscious.
"Thank you." Hiashi cradled Hinata, though a hint of suspicion crossed his mind.
"Are you Sasuke, the second son of the Fugaku family? Why are you here?"
Hiashi's thoughts were probably easy for Yewuyue to guess: a child only three or four years old rescuing someone among a squad of at least genin—it's hard to imagine.
"My parents went to a clan meeting, my older brother is out on a mission and hasn't returned yet. I was just staying at home with nothing to do, so I went out to train, and then I saw this group of Kumogakure shinobi with Hinata.
Hinata is also my friend, so I stepped in to help. At the time I thought that as long as I encountered a ninja from a village, I'd be safe, but I didn't expect Uncle Hiashi to show up so quickly."
Yewuyue said sincerely.
"Thank you very much for saving Hinata, but may I know how you saved her?"
After hearing Yewuyue's words, Hiashi still didn't fully believe; he probably thought the Sasuke in front of him was an impostor.
Upon hearing that, Yewuyue didn't hesitate and used the previous technique again.
"My father also knows these abilities; now Uncle Hiashi should believe I'm real, right?" Yewuyue smiled.
Little did he know how much impact his words and actions had on Hiashi.
"I'm sorry, I really thought you were a Kumogakure ninja in disguise. Later I'll come by with Hinata to thank you, and you'll always be a friend of our Hyuga clan. If you ever have any trouble, just tell me; I'll help whenever I can."
Hiashi took a full half minute to digest the information he just received, then said, shocked yet sincere.
