Soro's Spear
"Run! Run!"
"By the Father God Gruumsh, how could those Imperial People possess such weapons!"
"No wonder the High Mountain Kingdom was destroyed by them! How could we possibly reclaim Avendell Dan with just these lowly orcs?"
Looking at the land covered in thick smoke and fire in the distance, the beastmen were terrified. They didn't even have time to pack up their supplies before fleeing north again in a panic.
Fortunately, the camps of these Pure Blood Orcs were located far behind the battlefield, and they only needed to retreat a few dozen miles to return to their homeland— the Ugo Great Prairie.
Soro rode on the back of a Wasteland Striding Dragon, turned his head, and looked at the devastated battlefield. The firelight was reflected in his eyes, but deep in his pupils, a deep hatred was revealed.
Now, Soro's grand ambition of conquering Avendell Dan and leading the orcs to conquer the Feanso Continent has completely vanished.
His Million Orcs army was burned to ashes by the overwhelming flames of the Embers of the Burned Empire before it even touched the walls of Avendell Dan.
Along with those Green-skinned Orcs, Soro's glory and prestige as Great Chieftain were also burned to ashes.
—In recent days, he has heard a lot of rumors that, due to the defeat on the battlefield, the clan leaders are discussing splitting up again after the war and no longer obeying the leadership of the Red Blood Tribe.
How could he not hate?
Soro not only hated the Embers of the Burned Empire that destroyed his dreams, but also hated the selfish and short-sighted clan leaders, and despised their plot to rebel.
Thinking of this, the veins on Soro's forehead bulged, and he squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth. "Embers of the Burned Empire, one day, I will lead countless orcs to slaughter your people. I will personally cut off the head of that Red Dragon and hang it on the walls of Avendell Dan. Of course, I will deal with those damned traitors first!" The Orc Chieftain clenched his fist around the Blood Spear, and a strong killing intent shone through his turbid eyes.
"Whoosh—"
A piercing shriek came from the distant horizon, and several Wyvern swept across the sky, dropping bombs at the advancing orc army.
"Boom!"
"Boom! Boom!"
Flames shot straight into the sky, and the sound shook the earth. The orcs were helpless, waving their weapons in terror, but they were powerless to do anything about it.
"Damn it, those Imperial People Wyvern!"
"How could this be? They actually tracked us all the way here!"
"By Gruumsh, are the magic and divine arts of these Imperial People inexhaustible?"
"Quick! Damn it, shoot them down!" Soro roared as he looked at the dozens of elite orcs who had been blown up and then at the black dots in the sky.
The orc cavalryman beside him looked dejected and whispered, "Great Chieftain, they fly extremely high and are very fast; our Short Bow are no match for them."
"Useless, a bunch of useless trash!"
Soro was enraged. The slaughter of the lower orcs was bad enough, but these damned Wyvern had dared to attack his elite forces! They were killing indiscriminately right in front of him! In the crude language of the orcs: this was like defecating on his head! "Damn Imperial People, I'll make you pay!"
Soro snatched the spear from the orc rider's hand, then stared intently at the sky with his bloodshot eyes. In the distance, Wyvern were rising up, seemingly about to turn back.
High in the sky, the Wyvern Knight of the Air Force Corps were carrying out their routine work—pressing buttons, dropping bombs, and killing orcs.
Compared to the tense, exciting, and thrilling aerial battles of the past, their current work is as repetitive and boring as that of assembly line workers, with only some "fireworks" fueled by the lives of orcs to be seen.
This time, their target is the Pure Blood Orcs who are evacuating.
Looking at the experience points displayed on the system panel, Steamed Bun frowned. "The density of orcs here is too low. We only killed a dozen or so in one round of bombing. Fortunately, their Challenge Rating is slightly higher."
Singo commented, "You've become too picky about quests these past few days, haven't you? You used to rush to do quests that only gave a few hundred experience points, but now you're complaining about quests that give a thousand experience points at a time."
Steamed Bun pouted. "The past is the past, and the present is the present. Sigh, this mission is great in every way, but it's just too boring. There's no passion for combat."
Every day is just eating, sleeping, and bombing orcs. Thousands of experience points easily accumulate. It's so boring, so incredibly boring!
Singo laughed and said, "If you say that out loud, you'll probably get blocked at the door by all those newbies who are struggling to level up."
Steamed Bun, on the other hand, was completely self-righteous. "So what? Can they kill me? Hmph, if they really come, I'll send them to their deaths with a bomb!"
Singo said calmly, "To destroy something, you first make it arrogant. I think you've gotten too cocky."
Steamed Bun pouted and retorted, "Shut up, Xin Gou! Don't give me that. You're the biggest show-off. You're always the one who steals the spotlight at every event."
"Etc--"
Singo's tone suddenly became a little strange. "Steamed Bun, the fighting spirit you've been craving is probably coming soon!"
"What?"
Steamed Bun lowered his head in confusion, only to see a heavily armored, exceptionally burly orc on the ground, holding a spear and staring at him with hatred.
Suddenly, large red letters appeared on the display screen in front of his helmet. "Warning, warning! You are about to encounter danger! Please evacuate immediately!"
Curtis's voice came through the earpiece. "You've been targeted by a powerful orc. According to our energy level identification system, this guy is at least a legendary being and is emitting some kind of undetectable aura. Make a quick retreat. If you get caught—tsk, good luck to you."
The call has ended.
Steamed Bun looked miserable, wishing he could slap himself and tell himself not to be such a jinx in the future.
You should know that the experience points lost due to death are deducted proportionally. Once he dies, he will have to give back most of the massive amount of experience points he has gained in the past few days.
But then, Steamed Bun gritted his teeth and cursed inwardly, "Damn it, it's just an orc, can't it fly?"
Upon hearing Curtis's order, the Wyvern Knight of the Air Force Corps pulled the control stick in unison, ascending almost vertically upwards.
After being equipped with the Tian Huo Armor, the Wyvern's agility is reduced considerably, but its speed is greatly increased. Skimming at low altitudes is quite risky, so keeping a distance and ascending to higher altitudes is the best option.
Even if that orc Fighter was strong, he didn't have wings and couldn't soar freely like them.
However, Soro's muscles were tense, and he was kneeling on the ground, his legs like compressed springs.
"Boom!"
With a deafening roar, the earth suddenly caved in, and dust shot straight into the sky. Under that powerful force, Soro's massive six-meter-tall body leaped up, instantly soaring a hundred meters into the sky, almost as if he were flying.
Spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the ground, creating a huge crater several meters in diameter and several feet deep.
"Whoosh—"
At extremely high speeds, the orc's body surface rubbed against the air, even producing streaks of fire, making him look like a shooting star rising from the ground into the sky.
Moreover, inside Soro's body, the heart, filled with Primordial Orc Spores, was beating wildly, constantly releasing a powerful force field and pressure.
Seeing the orc hurtling through the air and gradually closing in on them, Steamed Bun stared in disbelief. "What the hell is that monster? Can this thing even be considered an orc?"
Upon seeing this, the Wyvern Knight no longer held back and pressed the acceleration button.
"Whoosh—"
Flames suddenly erupted from the steel pipes behind the Tian Huo Armor, propelling them to accelerate and transforming them into streaks of crimson afterimages that pierced the sky.
After a few seconds in the air, the orc's speed gradually slowed down under the influence of gravity, and it was about to fall back to the ground.
At this moment, he was only a few dozen meters away from the Steamed Bun! But no matter what, he could never reach that last bit of distance.
Steamed Bun finally felt relieved, turned around, made a face, and said sarcastically, "Hehe, go eat my dragon tail breath!"
"You bastard!"
Soro flew into a rage, his face contorted with rage, the muscles in his arms bulging, veins standing out, gathering terrifying power.
Gazing at the sharp spear in the other's hand, Steamed Bun immediately sensed something was wrong; a chilling premonition rose within him. "Wait, this guy won't take it."
"Whoosh—"
A piercing explosion resounded through the sky as the sharp spear tore through the air and Ground Spike fiercely towards the Steamed Bun.
"Shameless Imperial People! Die!"
Immediately following was the thunderous roar of the orcs.
Steamed Bun accelerated desperately, pressing all the emergency buttons on the armor. Flames, lightning, and force field energy appeared behind the Wyvern, and it also made several emergency turns.
But the spear, enveloped in Orc Spores, was like a ghost, following closely behind, and arrived beneath the Wyvern in an instant.
"Sizzle—"
First came a crisp sound, followed by the sound of a sharp weapon piercing flesh. The spear pierced through the armor and successively penetrated the bodies of the Wyvern Steamed Bun, piercing them through completely.
Steamed Bun lowered his head, staring at the blood-stained spearhead that had pierced through his chest, and was instantly overcome with grief.
A tempoed version of "See You Again" played in the headphones, accompanied by Curtis's ambiguous voice. "Steamed Bun, thank you for stepping forward and covering the safe retreat of the rest of the air formation."
Oh no, this is a huge disaster.
—This was the last thought that flashed through Steamed Bun's mind.
"Boom!"
The next moment, the self-destruct device in the dragon's belly was triggered, and the dozen or so bombs stored inside exploded instantly, creating a blinding fireball in the sky.
Burning fragments scattered across the ground, while the Steamed Bun's body had turned into charred bits of flesh, which actually matched the background music quite well.
The orc Fighter then crashed to the ground.
"Chief Soro!"
"Powerful Soro! Your strength is awe-inspiring! You were able to kill those Wyvern!"
"The terminator of Wyvern, Soro!"
"Great Chieftain, you have avenged our Fighter!"
"Enough!"
However, at this moment, Soro's face was gloomy, showing no excitement at killing the enemy. He simply ordered angrily, "Those Imperial People will come back again. We must retreat immediately!"
"Yes, Great Chieftain."
Soro looked around, his expression shifting between light and dark. At least after demonstrating his strength, these orcs would temporarily obey his orders—even the clan leaders were no exception.
He looked once more at the fortress on Blackstone Mountain, and made a silent vow: Avendell Dan, I will return.
However, next time, I will lead a much stronger orc army here to reclaim Avendell Dan, and I will never flee in disarray like this time.
"General Dror, the Orc Chieftain is leading the Red Blood Tribe in a retreat to the north. Should we intercept them?"
No, it's not necessary.
The Hobgoblin waved his hand, turned around, and looked north. "Don't forget His Majesty's decree. Our goal this time is not to win this war, but to wipe out the orc forces of the Ugo Great Prairie."
The adjutant asked, puzzled, "But the Ugo Great Prairie is vast and boundless. Once we get there, it will be the orcs' home ground."
Dror shook his head and grinned menacingly. "His Your Majesty Keosius once said that bishops can run away, but churches cannot escape."
Once they return, we can then trace the source of the Green-skinned Orcs, inflict devastating damage on their settlements, and solve the orc problem at its root.
The adjutant nodded repeatedly, flattering him, "You are truly insightful and shrewd, with a deep understanding of His Majesty's wise words."
Dror was delighted to hear this and said smugly, "Of course, His Majesty personally conveyed the order to me."
"As expected of General Dror, you have earned His Your Majesty Keosius's trust!"
"If I complete this mission successfully, I might be promoted to Duke," the Hobgoblin thought to himself with a smug grin.
Suddenly, Curtis's voice came through the magic communicator. "General Dror, just now, we lost a Tian Huo Armor."
Dror frowned slightly. He knew that the armor was extremely expensive, costing thousands of Gold Coin just to build, and each one was incredibly valuable.
Dror asked, "What's going on? How could those weak Green-skinned Orcs possibly damage our air formation?"
Curtis answered truthfully, "We encountered the main force of the orcs and launched a probing attack against them. Among their ranks was a powerful Fighter of legendary rank or higher—this is probably the Great Chieftain."
"Legend." Dror's expression immediately turned serious.
Beings of this caliber are a force to be reckoned with on the entire continent; even the current Embers of the Burned Empire has only a handful of them.
With that in mind, Dror asked, "If you can't handle this—should I ask Ms. Misha for help?"
"No need, General."
Surprisingly, Curtis shook his head and refused, adding, "Perfect. I want to test whether 'that thing' can kill a Legendary Warrior."
Dror felt a chill run down his spine when he heard the unintentional joy in Curtis's words.
