Background

Abera was a Divine Offspring who served the King of the Sea of Heaven and later guarded the Pale Mother Nest in Kuks under Purple Commander. She accumulated Evolution Factor through the nutrients allocated to her and sought promotion from Fourth Stage Chieftain to Fifth Stage Overlord. The Pale Mother Nest was especially valuable because it could strengthen Divine Offspring by as many as two stages, though no higher than Fifth Stage 79.

Unlike many Divine Offspring, Abera retained enough fragments of human memory to develop a comparatively complete personality. She values dignity more than most of her kind, though survival, ambition, and her personal comforts frequently override that pride 82.

Appearance

Abera is a tall, striking woman whose evolved form is nearly indistinguishable from a human's. Her appearance shifts sharply with her circumstances: she can present herself as an elegant, aloof witch or queen, yet becomes disheveled when isolated or deprived of support.

Abera is proud, theatrical, social, and intensely status-conscious. She initially cultivated the persona of a cold, sophisticated Spider Witch because she believed it made her seem dangerous and refined; in private, she is far more expressive, clingy, petty, and prone to complaining 136 167.

Her allegiance is shaped by both genuine attachment and self-interest. She repeatedly dreams of reversing her master-servant relationship with Ivette, yet accepts Ivette's protection, instruction, and periodic draining of her Evolution Factors as worthwhile “tuition” for becoming stronger 135. She craves recognition as Ivette's disciple, but refuses to destroy her own writings even when formal discipleship is offered as the price 141.

Long isolation is especially damaging to her. During Ivette's century-long sleep, Abera's inability to leave Ish Island gradually reduced her to loneliness, neglect, and escapist writing; she ultimately used fictional scenarios starring herself and Ivette to endure the solitude 136.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Kuks Overlord

Abera first appears as the Spider Witch and Overlord of a Kuks region. After gaining approval to advance through the Pale Mother Nest, she becomes convinced that her new Fifth Stage power will finally let her defeat the mysterious silver-haired woman who had repeatedly harassed her 79.

She encounters Dugrabi while seeking Ivette's location, overwhelms him in battle, and attempts to force him to reveal his teacher's whereabouts. Dugrabi's combined fire attack burns her face, and his refusal to betray Ivette turns Abera's interrogation into a personal humiliation 80.

Defeat and Loss of Power

Ivette interrupts Abera's attempt to kill Dugrabi and defeats her effortlessly. Abera's corrosive magic, shield, and Spider Leg Spear prove ineffective against Ivette's tendrils, which bind her and drain more than 6,000 Mutation Factors from her body 81.

The loss leaves her unable to access most of her abilities and cuts her off from Kuks. She first tries to pledge herself to Ivette out of self-preservation, but Ivette refuses and leaves her behind 84.

Ivette's Maid

Starvation and repeated defeat by a ram reduce Abera to begging Ivette for help. Ivette feeds her, permits her to travel with the group temporarily, and decides that Abera can serve as both a useful maid and a source of insight into high-level Mutants 89.

While traveling with Ivette, Bingyu, and Dugrabi, Abera recovers her power, learns fire magic in secret, drives the group's vehicle, and gradually becomes less interested in immediate revenge. Ivette's lack of forced control makes Abera more willing to remain by her side 91.

Solitude on Ish Island

When Ivette begins her long evolution sleep, Abera remains on Ish Island after her motorcycle is damaged. She restores herself to peak Fifth Stage but cannot advance without a suitable Mother Nest or leave the island without repairing her vehicle 136.

Her loneliness intensifies over the following century. She unsuccessfully attacks Ivette's cocoon with corrosive magic, abandons attempts to study engineering, and begins writing elaborate fictional scenarios to cope with isolation 136.

Commander of Black Tide Continent

After separating from Ivette, Abera attempts to establish her own faction and cultivate a Mother Nest. Although personally strong enough to challenge Commanders, she struggles against their established territories, resources, and subordinates 167.

Ivette refuses to eliminate Abera's rivals but supplies the final nutrients needed for her Mother Nest. Abera then successfully becomes a Sixth Stage Commander and gains her giant-spider form 167.

Her later expansion is undermined by poor leadership: she refuses to share nutrients or cultivate alliances, allowing neighboring Commanders to weaken her territory through repeated raids 182.

Reconciliation and Renewed Ambition

After Ivette doubts Abera's claim of having waited faithfully at the manor, Abera gives her the cold shoulder. Ivette eventually apologizes and gifts her the five Elemental Magic Tomes, restoring their relationship and prompting Abera to openly declare her love for her master 183 184.

At Ivette's thousandth-year birthday banquet, Abera asks permission to return to Black Tide Continent and rebuild her influence. Ivette agrees, believing the recent reset of regional factions gives Abera another opportunity to compete 190.
