Andrew's actions had two benefits. First, Monster Captains gave far more experience than Normal Monsters and could even drop equipment. Though Andrew could not eat the whole cake, he could eat the biggest slice.
The other benefit was that Monster Captains were very powerful. Whether it was the garrison or the Ability Users, they all found them troublesome. By drawing the Monster Captains out alone, Andrew would greatly reduce everyone's pressure.
That way, not only would they not think Andrew was stealing experience, they would be deeply grateful to him. At the same time, it would greatly reduce the casualties among the garrison and Ability Users.
