Background
Li Banfeng grew up in a welfare institute. Old Woman Wu named him among seven children sharing the character Ban; she chose “Banfeng” because she considered him the most outstanding. His surname came from the orphanage gatekeeper, Old Woman Wu’s husband. Old Woman Wu also called him Li Baisha, Li Hongmei, Li Yingchun, and Li Furong according to the cigarettes she wanted him to buy. 2
He worked odd jobs to attend university. His record contains no criminal convictions, though he was investigated repeatedly for self-defense incidents in which he badly injured groups of attackers. 5 At university, his history of mental illness isolated him from others; He Jiaqing became his sole friend, while Li Banfeng likewise considered He his only friend. 2
After entering Pro State, Li Banfeng discovered that he was a cultivator and that the Portable Abode belonged to him. The house became both his refuge and the center of an expanding household of sentient Spiritual Objects, Magical Treasures, shadows, and companions. 22 564
Appearance
Li Banfeng has a slim, ordinary-looking build that conceals his fighting ability. In his university years, he wore a buzz cut that emphasized his long face; he has fair skin and large eyes. 5 33 96
- Commonly wears a top hat and formal suit, especially when presenting himself as Li Qi. 363 638
- Uses beards, cosmetics, clay facial coverings, altered clothing, and voice imitation to conceal his identity. 96 462 569
- Can convincingly imitate other people, including Pan Dehai, with the Portable Abode household’s assistance. 462
- Is often underestimated because of his thin physique and outwardly erratic behavior. 33
Personality
Li Banfeng favors simple decisions: if he wants something, he acts; if he does not, he discards it without overthinking. He attributes his exceptional throwing accuracy within five meters to a stable mindset. 2 His stiff smile appears when he is either pleased or emotionally unstable, leading others to misread him as frightening or insane. 2
He insists that he is not crazy, citing a doctor’s assessment, even after reacting to danger with extreme violence while claiming to be terrified. 33 He also sincerely considers himself a good person, though his conduct includes deception, ambushes, coercion, and ruthless killing when he judges it necessary. 156 157 480
In conflict, Li Banfeng is observant, adaptable, and stubbornly unwilling to concede. He studies opponents’ Dao Gates, exploits weaknesses, prepares traps, and refuses to abandon people under his protection even when retreat would be safer. 148 395 533 His growing authority does not erase his practical concern for repayment, compensation, and the welfare of those he considers family or allies. 356 620 816
