Background
Qin Jiuyue is the son of Martial Emperor Qin Liuhe and the senior martial brother of Hai Wuji. He and Hai were once friends and martial arts partners, but came to disagree sharply over how humanity should survive its enemies 219 220 269. Qin Jiuyue weighs choices by their consequences and places survival above ideals of glory or dignity. Hai considers this outlook excessively utilitarian 227 279.
