Background

Hai Wuji is a disciple of Qin Liuhe, the Martial Emperor and founder of the Liuhe Sect. During Gao Wu's apprenticeship, Hai identifies Qin Liuhe as Gao's grandmaster and formally accepts Gao as a third-generation Liuhe Sect disciple. He explains that “Liuhe” represents paired combinations of the Twelve Divine Aspects and, more broadly, the world the sect is sworn to protect 200.

Azure Dragon Cup and Gao Wu's Apprenticeship

Hai Wuji appears at the Azure Dragon Cup after taking interest in Gao Wu's potential. He tests Gao's mental and physical condition through an illusion, then accepts him as a personal disciple after Gao endures the test and eagerly agrees to join the Liuhe Sect 199 200.

He offers Gao two cultivation paths: a rapid but dangerous route of medicine and slaughter, or a slower path focused on willpower and sword practice. Gao ultimately chooses the faster route, and Hai provides him with the Crimson Flame Flying Dragon Armor and tailored training 200 201 204.

Conflict with Qin Jiuyue

Hai Wuji seeks a complete purge of the Demonic Cult, while Qin Jiuyue argues that abruptly destroying the existing order could harm tens of millions of people. To avoid a direct conflict between Martial Saints, Hai accepts a duel between Gao Wu and Qin Jiuyue's disciple Pei Jidao 219 220.

After Gao defeats Pei, Hai continues to support his disciple while accepting Qin Jiuyue's assistance in Gao's cultivation, including the transfer of the Dragon Aspect Fist 227.

Federation Conflict and the Pantheon

On Dongwei Island, Hai Wuji becomes trapped with Gao Wu by Venus's Pantheon and faces coordinated attacks from Ares, Apollo, and Poseidon. He prepares to use the Hanguang Sword and his Spatial Ability to create an escape route for Gao, even at the cost of his own life 376.
