Characteristics
- Humans are physically weak compared with most Primordial races, have short lifespans, and originally lack innate cultivation methods. 92 299
- The first humans are Innate Humans, while later generations are Acquired/Houtian humans produced through reproduction. Houtian humans require food and are described as the only intelligent acquired beings in the Primordial World who are not Immortals. 301
- Humans possess three souls and seven souls. Their Heavenly and Earthly Souls merge with the Dao nature of Heaven-and-Earth Laws, while the Life Soul governs the body and contains the Seven Souls. A damaged soul can be regenerated by the remaining souls. 297
- Individuals are generally weak, but the Human Race's collective Destiny/Fortune is exceptionally powerful because it embodies a dispersed manifestation of Supreme Creation. 313
- Unlike Innate beings, humans receive no Heavenly Dao inheritance. Their path depends on creating their own tools, institutions, cultivation methods, and culture. 536
- Humans are portrayed as diligent, peaceful, respectful of elders, protective of the young, and bound by moral customs imparted by Nuwa. 316
Background / History
Creation and early survival
Nuwa creates the Human Race after 500,000 years of effort, receives immense merit, and attains the Dao. She teaches the newborn humans morality, while the newly born Human Dao remains weak within her imperial seal. 298
The earliest humans struggle to protect and feed their Houtian descendants. Xiao encourages them to hunt for themselves and forges spears and ropes, earning Heavenly Dao Merit for the first human hunting tools. 301 302
Sui Ren Shi discovers fire, then invents drilling wood to create the first Hearth Fire. Fire allows humans to cook meat, reduce its violent energy, resist cold, and avoid the illnesses caused by eating raw flesh. 311 Nuwa later appoints Sui Ren Shi as the First Ancestor of the Human Race. 312
Zi Yi Shi invents clothing to protect humans from wind and cold, while You Chao Shi builds the first shelters after observing birds' nests. Nuwa appoints them the Second and Third Ancestors, forming the Three Ancestors with Sui Ren Shi. 313
Expansion and calamities
As humanity multiplies, later-born humans become increasingly weak and lack cultivation methods. The Three Ancestors therefore send clansmen into the dangerous Primordial World to seek immortality and the Dao. 315
The Witch Clan initially exchanges knowledge with humanity, including body-refining techniques. This relationship ends in humanity's first major calamity, when Witch Clan members abduct human women and children in an attempt to preserve their own bloodline. 343
Xiao refuses to ask Nuwa to solve the crisis. Instead, he teaches humanity that weakness invites oppression and that the race must become self-reliant, resilient, and willing to grow through hardship. 346 Inspired by this lesson, Sui Ren Shi leads a mass migration from the Yellow River Basin so humanity can take root throughout the Primordial Land. 347
The migration costs nearly sixty percent of the Human Race, but establishes new human settlements across the world. The survivors build a grand hall beside Nuwa's palace to honor those who died during the expansion. 348
The Demon Clan later hunts and slaughters humans on a massive scale, leaving only scattered remnants in many regions. Despite losing roughly fifty to sixty percent of the humans on the Primordial Land, the race refuses to seek aid from the Witch Clan and resolves to rebuild through cultivation. 439
Rise of human civilization
Fuxi reforms the Feng Gun Tribe by domesticating animals, introducing fishing nets, suppressing superstition, and promoting self-improvement. 537 He then transforms the settlement into the First Human City, drawing in members of other tribes and beginning a new urban civilization. 538
Fuxi establishes human marriage and family rules after identifying close-relative marriage as the cause of widespread birth defects. 540 He also creates the Eight Trigrams Divine Ability, enabling humans to seek fortune and avoid disaster through deduction. 543
Lie Shan Shi, later known as Shennong, discovers and cultivates the Five Grains—rice, millet, sorghum, wheat, and beans—ending recurrent food shortages and securing humanity's survival. 546 During Shennong's era, the Human Race forms an alliance with the Dragon, Phoenix, and Kirin Clans to resist Buddhist influence; the Three Clans' totems provide rain, fire abilities, blessings, cultivation benefits, and protection from illness. 564
Xuanyuan succeeds Shennong and confronts tribal division, rebellion, and warfare. He abolishes the tribal system, divides humanity into four territories and twelve capitals, appoints officials, builds an army, and establishes new methods of governance. 578 Cangjie subsequently creates three thousand Human Race characters, giving humanity its own script and strengthening the river of Human Dao Destiny/Fortune. 584
Later development
During the Five Emperors era, Duobao assists Zhuanxu in establishing rules and systems that further develop the Human Race. 611
Da Yu later establishes the Nine Provinces with the Nine Cauldrons, stabilizing Human Dao Destiny/Fortune and securing humanity's territory. 779 780 After the separation of the Mortal and Immortal Realms, humanity's Earth domain becomes centered on Kyushu behind a formation barrier. 785
The Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors eventually rebuild the Human Race's elite power within the Twelve Human Cities. The cities become a major force in the Immortal Realm, offering protection to human cultivators and ascendants from lower realms. 829
