The Saints contested Buddhism as Fuxi, Shennong, and Xuanyuan successively led the Human Race, while Xuan Qing helped restore ancient powers and new Dao paths emerged. Xuanyuan unified the Human Race, and the story turned toward reforming currency and aiding the suffering people of the Western Lands.

  • Ancestor Phoenix, Zu Long, and Ancestor Kirin became Saints, while Xuan Qing restored Tai Yi, the Golden Crows, and several Ancestral Witches and helped Houtu establish the Nether Sun and Nether Moon.

Arc 21Saints and the Dao Discussion

The Three Tribes’ breakthroughs opened new paths to Sainthood as Xuan Qing reshaped the Netherworld and restored its rulers. Zhen Yuanzi became Dao Master of the Heavenly Human Dao, while the Saints prepared a convention that would pit their disciples against Buddhism.

  • Ancestor Phoenix became Saint Yuan Feng, while Zu Long and Ancestor Kirin became Saints Shi Lin and pledged to guard the East Sea and Three Divine Continents.
  • Haotian expanded the Heavenly Court, but Nanji and Wudang joined forces to purge his agents and seize control of key departments.
  • Xuan Qing restored Tai Yi and the nine Golden Crows, then helped Houtu establish a Nether Sun and Nether Moon with Xi He and Chang Xi.
  • Xuan Qing recovered the Ancestral Witches’ True Spirits and restored Ju Mang, Ru Shou, and Qiang Liang, while Gonggong received a new body and began cultivating.

Arc 22The Human Emperors

Fuxi changed the Human Race through new customs, marriage, and the Eight Trigrams before becoming its Heavenly Emperor and passing leadership to Shennong. As Shennong began his rule, Xuan Qing offered Fuxi and Tai Zhen’s son Hui Xi a chance to become his disciple.

  • Yuanshi and the Buddhist Saints held a contest on Kunlun Mountain, where Cihang, Chi Jingzi, Guang Chengzi, and Xuandu faced Buddhist opponents before Laozi and Yuanshi fought Jieyin and Zhunti.
  • Han Xi guided Fuxi as he became Co-Lord, united tribes, challenged evil-god worship, and developed animal husbandry, fishing, and new customs for the Human Race.
  • Fuxi defeated the demons and monsters threatening his people with Kong Xuan’s help, established Human Marriage with Tai Zhen, and later created the Eight Trigrams using the River Diagram, Luo Script, and Xuan Wu’s shell.
  • Xuandu guided Shennong as he investigated food shortages, cultivated crops, and identified the Five Grains, while Fuxi completed the Later Heaven Bagua and chose Shennong as his successor.

Arc 23Shennong and the Third Co-Lord

Shennong cured the Human Race’s decline, resisted the Western Saints’ influence, and passed the Co-Lord position to Xuanyuan. As Xuanyuan began his era, Heaven and earth transformed, and the Heavenly Dao revealed plans to separate immortals and mortals and reshape the Prehistoric Era.

  • Xuan Qing accepted Hui Xi as a disciple and taught him to find his Dao among ordinary people, while Fuxi reunited with Nuwa and prepared to return to the Human Race.
  • Tongtian broke free of half his Dao Fruit’s connection to the Heavenly Dao and entered Primordial Chaos Great Luo, with Xuan Qing protecting him from the Heavenly Dao’s divine thunder.
  • Shennong searched for remedies among the tribes, survived accumulated poison with Xuandu’s help, and grieved when Nüwa died and became the Glazed Little Bird Jingwei.

Arc 24Xuanyuan’s Unification

Xuanyuan defeated Chi You and unified the Human Race, while Cangjie settled old Karma and Hui Xi became an Earth Dao Saint. As Xuanyuan began addressing trade and the suffering of humans in the Western Lands, Xiao brought him tools for reform and the story turned toward helping those distant people.

  • Xuan Qing asked Zhen Yuanzi to guide Cangjie, then found Hui Xi studying life and death among the Human Race.
  • Xuanyuan tried to abolish the tribes and rule through virtue, but Gu Sha resisted and transformed through a Buddhist-like technique before Xuan Qing destroyed his manifestation.
  • Cangjie established Human Script, declared that he was Hong Yun returned to life, and settled his Karma with Ming He and Kunpeng.
  • Chi You defeated Xuanyuan in battle, but Xuanyuan gained the Xuanyuan Sword, learned military strategy, and used South-Pointing Chariots to counter Chi You’s formations.
  • Nü Ba dispersed the enemy’s weather attacks, and Xuanyuan killed Chi You’s body with the Xuanyuan Sword before accepting the Human-Witch army as part of the Human Race.
  • Xuanyuan guarded against the Chan Sect’s designs as Guang Chengzi founded the Kongtong Sect, while Hui Xi attained Primordial Grand Luo and became the Earth Dao’s second Earth Dao Saint.
  • Xiao removed Treasure-Dropping Coins that had altered Cao Bao and Xiao Sheng’s fates, borrowed Houtu’s Primordial Heaven-Measuring Ruler, and brought both treasures to Xuanyuan.
  • Xuanyuan turned to Xiao for help with currency and the Western Lands, where humans suffered under the Buddhist Sect and the Netherworld Sea of Blood.
