Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Nameless Sword · Puppet 10 The foundational wooden, sheathed Iai Sword. Gangcun Kuzi initially summons it temporarily through the Tachi Artisan inheritance; it has high attack speed and displays a hit-rating bar. It can later be crafted from logs and a wooden sword.
Sharp Blade · White Sheath 115 An iron-bladed upgrade of the Puppet, crafted with gold and iron ingots. It has greater attack and durability than its wooden predecessor.
Greatsword 122 Crafted by using a broken, zero-durability White Sheath as the base. It is heavier, works well with enchantments, and unlocks advanced combat potential.
Ōdachi / Great Katana designation 124 Gu Yu identifies the third-stage weapon as a mid-tier Iai Sword with two eventual evolution branches. He uses it to perform Dimensional Slash.
Yuzuki Blade · Tsukumogami 130 Upgraded from a fully durable Greatsword through enemy defeats, special enchantment, Soul of the Artisan Orbs, and mineral blocks. The pink blade develops a spirit and can stand upright like a block when dropped.
Muramasa 137 A black Iai Sword with gold patterns, forged by Gu Yu after gathering Soul of the Artisan resources. It follows a separate evolution route from the Greatsword.
Muramasa · Chizuru 138 A demon-sword evolution of Muramasa achieved after a spiritual victory.
Yuzuki Blade · Fate 138 139 A final Yuzuki Blade-series weapon enhanced through Souls of the Artisan, gaining Sharpness and Durability enchantments and later demonstrating demonization-derived abilities.
Broken Enma Blade 172 173 Dropped by the Ender Dragon and recognized as the sixth Iai Sword obtained by Gu Yu.
Demonic Sword · Enma Blade 179 The restored form of the Broken Enma Blade after Gu Yu accumulates 1,000 Souls of Glory. It becomes the strongest documented Iai Sword.

Background / History

Gangcun Kuzi first manifests the Iai Sword after passing the Tachi Artisan’s trial. His initial weapon, the Nameless Sword · Puppet, is a temporary transformation with a three-minute existence limit; its rapid attacks allow him to quickly clear monsters, but it depends on his stamina and available food 10.

Kapil’s death changes the weapon system’s availability. Before dying, he destroys his Soul of the Artisan and forfeits his own right to the Iai Sword. All players receive thirty days of trial access, while the player with the highest progress at the end of that period is promised permanent access to every Iai Sword module and a National Fortune Reward 103.

Gangcun Kuzi becomes the first contestant to craft the Puppet and White Sheath during the trial period, using his Tachi Artisan inheritance to understand their forging methods. Yamamoto Rokuko’s skill later provides clues for the next weapon, though the Alliance initially fails to understand that a White Sheath must first enter a broken state before it can advance 115 117 121 122.

Gu Yu accesses the Iai Sword module independently and rapidly surpasses the Alliance’s progress. He crafts the Puppet and White Sheath, discovers the broken-state requirement, develops the Greatsword’s Dimensional Slash, and advances through multiple evolutionary branches, including Tsukumogami, Muramasa, Fate, and Enma Blade 117 118 122 124 130 137 173.

Appearance

The Iai Sword line begins as a simple wooden long sword with a scabbard, but later forms become increasingly ornate and supernatural in appearance 10 117.

  • Puppet — Wooden blade and scabbard; described as the “ancestor of ten thousand swords” and the foundation of the module 117.
  • White Sheath — Iron blade with a slender sheath worn behind the wielder 118.
  • Greatsword — Dark, heavy weapon with a faint hum when unsheathed 122.
  • Tsukumogami — Pink blade with patterns on its hilt; behaves more like a standing block than a dropped item 130.
  • Muramasa — Predominantly black, with gold patterns on its scabbard and hilt 137.

Abilities & Mechanics

Slash, Cut, and Combo Rating

Iai Swords have two attack methods: slashing and cutting. Connecting attacks builds momentum, increasing the weapon’s damage output over a sustained combo 118.

  • Each successful hit can raise the weapon’s rating 10.
  • Higher ratings increase damage, progressing through ranks such as B, A, S, SS, and SSS 125 126.
  • At SSS-rank, the weapon can release sword energy with its attacks 125.
  • Gu Yu later discovers a hidden Limit rating beyond SSS 189.
  • Weapon strength varies significantly with the wielder’s skill, rhythm control, stamina, and ability to maintain combos 118 125.

Broken State and Evolution

Unlike ordinary weapons, a White Sheath does not disappear when its durability reaches zero. It enters a broken state, which is required for the Greatsword upgrade 121 122.

  • The Greatsword is crafted by placing a broken White Sheath into the Crafting Table with the required materials 122.
  • Iai Sword advancement is not linear; the Greatsword can develop along different evolution paths 124 138.
  • A Greatsword with 1,000 kills can enter the Fierce Blade state, altering rating thresholds for its higher damage phase 126.
  • Tsukumogami requires a fully durable Greatsword, enemy defeats, special enchantment, Soul of the Artisan Orbs, and mineral blocks 130.
  • Muramasa-related advancement is associated with Soul of the Artisan value, forging counts, and fully durable Greatswords 124 180.

Soul of the Artisan

Soul of the Artisan materials are central to Iai Sword crafting, upgrading, repair, and enchantment 103 120 138.

  • Soul of the Artisan Shards can be obtained through monster kills and contribute to crafting progress 120.
  • A shard and an iron ingot can be combined into a Soul of the Artisan Orb 120.
  • Enchanted Souls of the Artisan can be used exclusively on Iai Swords 129 138.
  • A dedicated Sword Display Stand can be created by using a Soul of the Artisan on a fence; it provides a slot for an Iai Sword and its scabbard 138.
  • Souls of the Artisan can repair Iai Sword durability, while enchanted versions can add weapon attributes 138.

Dimensional Slash

Dimensional Slash is a special attack demonstrated with Gu Yu’s Greatsword. It consumes Soul of the Artisan value and releases destructive sword energy that can kill groups of zombies in a single strike 124 125.

  • Requires the wielder to grip the hilt, hold their breath, concentrate, and draw the blade 124.
  • Produces crossing sword energies that converge into a black hole-like effect 124.
  • Its resource cost and activation requirements make it less immediately convenient than Tsukumogami’s standard sword aura 132.

Tsukumogami Spirit and Phantom Blade

Tsukumogami possesses a spirit that responds to its wielder’s mental state. Hatred turns it into a controlling demon sword, while a calm mind makes it a protective weapon that repels enemies 130.

  • Can stand upright after being dropped rather than simply becoming an item 130.
  • Produces sword aura without requiring an SSS-rank combo 132.
  • Can launch Phantom Blade attacks over a wide area, leaving groups of enemies injured for the wielder to finish 132.
  • Its guidance makes the weapon feel smoother and more responsive in combat 132.

Repair Methods

The Iai Sword has five named repair methods: Anvil Repair, Miscellaneous Repair, Soul Eater Repair, Experience Repair, and Enchantment Repair 136.

  • Anvil Repair — Uses an Anvil 136.
  • Miscellaneous Repair — Restores durability by adding a suitable block through the Crafting Table, such as stone for a Greatsword 136.
  • Soul Eater Repair — Restores durability when a Soul Eater-state sword successfully performs Sheathe after killing a creature 136.
  • Experience Repair — Demonized weapons can repair durability by absorbing experience 139.

Fate’s Demonization Abilities

When an Iai Sword has an Inscribed Spell, is unsealed, and undergoes demonization, it can gain extensive movement and combat functions 139.

  • Overblade — Grants additional Phantom Blades 139.
  • Self-Repair — Restores durability by absorbing experience 139.
  • Teleportation — Allows a short Iai Slash movement; Gu Yu travels three blocks in one demonstrated use 139.
  • Enemy Step — Unlocks an additional mobility function 139.
  • Wall Jump — Enables movement from walls 139.

Enma Blade

The Demonic Sword · Enma Blade combines several high-level Iai Sword functions 179 187 188.

  • Lock-on — Automatically tracks a target and displays its status and health 187.
  • Phantom Sword — Retains the projectile-like blade functions associated with advanced Iai Swords 188.
  • Ranged Defense — Its spinning technique can block ranged attacks, including Dragon Breath 188.
  • Gu Yu uses it to withstand attacks from multiple Dragons and maintain combat pressure in close quarters 188 189.

Relationships

  • Gangcun Kuzi — First documented wielder and first contestant to craft the Puppet and White Sheath. His Tachi Artisan inheritance gives him an early advantage in understanding the module 10 115.
  • Yamamoto Rokuko — Provides crafting clues through his skill and helps the Alliance identify the White Sheath’s broken-state requirement 117 122.
  • Gu Yu — Rapidly becomes the module’s most advanced user, discovering major mechanics and forging multiple high-level Iai Sword branches 117 124 130 137 179.
  • Kapil — His destroyed Soul of the Artisan grants all players temporary trial access to the Iai Sword system 103.
  • Tachi Artisans — Their trial and inheritance are directly associated with early Iai Sword use and forging knowledge 10 115.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Trial Access Competition

The Iai Sword becomes a major competitive objective after Kapil opens thirty-day trial access for every player. The promise of permanent module ownership and a National Fortune Reward makes progression in the weapon system strategically important to the Alliance and Gu Yu alike 103 112.

Alliance Crafting Race

Gangcun Kuzi and Yamamoto Rokuko establish the Alliance’s early lead by crafting the Puppet and White Sheath. Their progress stalls at the third weapon until Jet’s broken White Sheath reveals the advancement condition 115 120 122.

Gu Yu’s Breakthrough

Gu Yu catches up from the Puppet stage, immediately crafts the White Sheath, and then surpasses the Alliance through the Greatsword’s broken-state evolution. His Dimensional Slash and SSS combo rating establish that Iai Sword mastery depends on more than possession of the weapon 117 118 122 124 125.

Branch Evolution

Gu Yu proves that the Iai Sword has multiple evolution paths by obtaining Tsukumogami and Muramasa from Greatsword-based development. His progress leaves Gangcun Kuzi and the Alliance unable to match his recipes or combat applications 130 137 138.

Enma Blade and Dragon Combat

After the Ender Dragon drops the Broken Enma Blade, Gu Yu restores it with 1,000 Souls of Glory. The completed Enma Blade demonstrates lock-on, Phantom Sword functions, and the ability to block Dragon Breath, cementing it as the strongest documented Iai Sword 172 179 187 188.

Trivia

  • The Puppet is described as the beginning of all Iai Swords and the “ancestor of ten thousand swords” 115 117.
  • The Alliance initially mistakes the third Iai Sword’s failure for a recipe or material problem; the actual requirement is the White Sheath’s broken state 121 123.
  • Iai Sword enchantments cannot be applied with ordinary enchantment books; they require Souls of the Artisan and a Sword Display Stand 138.
  • The Samurai Nation publicly treats the Iai Sword as a national symbol, while other viewers argue that its cultural roots lie in Kyushu’s Tang Saber traditions 122 189.
