History

Mushroom Island and early rivalry

Park Sam-chang chose Mushroom Island after drawing sixth in the starting order. Its mushrooms, two Mushroom Cows, and enclosed three-block mushroom house appeared to guarantee food security, leading K-Nation viewers to expect rapid development 3. He spent his first night crowded into a dirt house with the Mushroom Cows, fearing monsters would kill them if left outside 9.

He quickly became fixated on Gu Yu, the neighboring Kyushu contestant. He was stunned by Gu Yu's Crafting Table and Stone Pickaxe, since Park had only gathered mushrooms and had not found a Crafting Table himself 4 6. Park repeatedly predicted that Gu Yu's Floating Island would fail, including claiming Gu Yu would not survive the first night; Gu Yu instead killed the Lightning Creeper unharmed, publicly disproving Park's deductions 11 15.

Resource-zone exploration

After hiding through the first night, Park was reprimanded by Zhu Wu for cowardice and for targeting livestock. He was permitted into the resource area, but had to turn in two blocks per day, including Gu Yu's assigned contribution 19.

A dying Enderman dropped an Ender Eye on Mushroom Island. Park discovered that activating it teleported him to the resource zone, where he found more Ender Eyes and regained confidence that he could recover from his early deficit 22. While exploring an unpopular mine, he followed zombie sounds to a hidden chamber behind Tuff Bricks, completed a zombie challenge for an increased mining limit and a shield, then triggered a duel against a mutated Villager Zombie 27.

Unable to defeat the boss with only a Stone Sword and shield, Park fled and chose to draw it toward Gu Yu's area instead 27. He later attempted to use a Witch against Gu Yu, believing that magic could counter Gu Yu's apparent abilities; Gu Yu captured the Witch with a boat before Park's plan could succeed 29.

Development and isolation

Park expanded Mushroom Island into a farm with Mushroom Cows, chickens, crops, and saplings. This slow but stable approach raised his Block Comprehensive Score to 6 and his ranking to ninth 50. He regarded the first Blood Moon as irrelevant because of Mushroom Island's supposed safety and remained unprepared for the second one as well 51 66.

His confidence in the island's protection was undermined when the second Blood Moon generated a nearby monster-spawning platform. Though he had expanded the island and reached rank seven, he lacked adequate defensive equipment and relied heavily on Mushroom Island's anti-spawn properties 66.

Conflict with Gu Yu

Park's hostility toward Gu Yu escalated into direct sabotage. He used an Ender Pearl to infiltrate Gu Yu's Monster Spawner Tower, then spent TNT and Fireballs to destroy it and release monsters onto the Floating Island. The attack failed to expose Gu Yu; the Architect and Guard Villagers drove Park away, forcing him to escape with another Ender Pearl 56.

After Gu Yu acquired a Three-Shot Bow, Park feared retaliation for damaging the Floating Island. He hastily built a wall with glass viewing gaps facing Gu Yu's territory, anticipating a ranged attack 80. Gu Yu, meanwhile, did not regard Park or Mushroom Island as strategically important enough to remember 86.

Anti-Gu Yu Alliance

Park left Mushroom Island and joined the Anti-@@REF_ENTITY_7931527@@ Alliance for protection and revenge against Gu Yu 86. During a later zombie attack, he narrowly survived, encountered firearm-using Zombies, and obtained a Double-barreled Shotgun from one of them 94. The shotgun immediately increased his value within the Alliance; Mark treated him as an influential ally and other members deferred to him because of his firearm 95 97.

Park disclosed that he had been Gu Yu's neighbor from the beginning and presented his observations to Mark and Jet. He characterized Gu Yu as clever but argued that most of Gu Yu's success came from luck, while omitting his own failed schemes and retreat from the mutated Villager Zombie 110. His past Witch plan nearly caused Mark's death, briefly straining the alliance when Mark learned who had lured the Witch to Gu Yu's Block 111.

Reconnaissance and failed replication

With his shotgun ammunition running low, Park asked Gangcun Kuzi to escort him on an expedition outside the Alliance's territory 123. The two returned to Mushroom Island and secretly observed Gu Yu's Floating Island, where Park identified defenses, Redstone devices, automated farms, rails, the Great Wall, armed Guard Villagers, and high-level Iai Sword development 133 141 144 145.

Park concluded that the Alliance could close the gap by copying Gu Yu's technology. He proposed a Nether Gate as a zombie defense and assigned Hornes to construct it under Alliance cover. The gate initially appeared successful, but soon released a large number of Mutant Zombies into the Alliance's defenses 149 150.

He remained determined to replicate Gu Yu's systems, rebuilding a Creeper farm despite prior accidents and later constructing a Mob Spawner Tower with help from other Alliance members 153 163. The tower's incomplete internal design failed catastrophically: a Creeper explosion breached its barrier and released strengthened monsters, killing several Alliance members and Spartan Warriors 164.

Park also tried to use Ender Pearls to locate The End, but teleported near the Mob Spawner Tower instead 163. He and Jet later attempted to reproduce Gu Yu's return device with water, a Trapdoor, and an Ender Pearl; it only produced a delayed teleport into the water rather than a controllable return portal 181.

Personality

Park is highly competitive and strongly motivated by the fear of falling behind. He initially treats Mushroom Island's food supply and safety as proof that he will outlast other contestants, then frames luck as a valid measure of strength after the Ender Eye gives him access to the resource zone 3 22.

His confidence frequently shifts into overconfidence. He assumes Gu Yu's Floating Island will fail, dismisses Blood Moon preparation, and repeatedly believes he can reproduce Gu Yu's structures from visual observation alone 11 66 152. When confronted with danger he cannot overcome, he tends to retreat, seek stronger allies, or redirect threats toward Gu Yu 27 86.

Park is also observant and persistent. He notices hidden mining opportunities, identifies practical uses for Ender Eyes, deduces the existence of an Anvil from Gu Yu's Block, and carefully surveys Gu Yu's Redstone infrastructure 22 27 120 141. Even after failures, he continues searching for a way to turn Gu Yu's methods into an advantage for the Alliance 149 153.

Abilities & Skills

Farming and Block Development

Park specializes in low-risk resource accumulation on Mushroom Island.

  • Bred Mushroom Cows and developed a farm for livestock, crops, logs, and food production 50 66.
  • Found eggs, hatched chickens, and established a chicken coop 50.
  • Relied on Mushroom Island's food supply and limited monster spawning to sustain slow development 3 66.
  • His isolated approach left him poorly equipped when Mushroom Island's safety declined during later Sudden Changes 66 86.

Exploration and Observation

Park has a talent for noticing opportunities and extracting information from other players' constructions.

  • Located a hidden mine area by tracing zombie sounds behind Tuff Bricks 27.
  • Identified the Ender Eye's teleportation function after being sent to the resource zone 22.
  • Deduced the existence of an Anvil from a pure-iron structure he had seen on Gu Yu's Block 120.
  • Gathered intelligence on Gu Yu's automated farms, Redstone devices, weapon racks, rail defenses, and Nether Gate design 141 145.
  • His reconstructions often fail because he observes external features without understanding the internal mechanisms 150 164 225.

Ender Item Use

Park relies heavily on Ender Eyes and Ender Pearls for mobility.

  • Uses Ender Eyes to travel between Mushroom Island and the resource zone 22.
  • Used Ender Pearls to infiltrate Gu Yu's Monster Spawner Tower and escape the Architect's counterattack 56.
  • Accidentally teleported near the Mob Spawner Tower while trying to find The End 163.
  • Helped test a return device that produced only delayed, uncontrolled teleportation 181.

Equipment

  • Stone Sword — His weapon during the hidden zombie-spawner discovery and mutated Villager Zombie encounter 27.
  • Shield — Obtained from the zombie challenge; used to block the mutated Villager Zombie's attack 27.
  • Ender Eyes and Ender Pearls — Used for resource-zone travel, infiltration, escape, and experimental teleportation 22 56 163.
  • TNT and Fireballs — Expended while sabotaging Gu Yu's Monster Spawner Tower 56.
  • Iron Leggings — Worn while surviving increasingly dangerous Zombies near Mushroom Island 66.
  • Double-barreled Shotgun — Dropped by a firearm-using Zombie; became his primary means of survival until ammunition shortages limited its use 94 123.

Relationships

  • Gu Yu — Neighboring contestant and primary rival. Park makes failed predictions about him, redirects monsters toward him, sabotages his Monster Spawner Tower, and later studies his technology to copy it 11 27 56 141.
  • Mark — Leader of the Anti-@@REF_ENTITY_7931527@@ Alliance. Mark accepts Park as an ally after he obtains the Double-barreled Shotgun and values his intelligence on Gu Yu's Block, though Park's old Witch scheme nearly caused a rupture between them 95 97 110 111.
  • Gangcun Kuzi — Alliance ally and expedition partner. Gangcun escorts Park outside the Alliance, joins him in scouting Gu Yu's Floating Island, and helps construct the Mob Spawner Tower 123 133 163.
  • Zhu Wu — Resource-area official who slaps and rebukes Park for hiding from combat and seeking to prey on livestock, then imposes an extra daily block contribution on him 19.
  • Hornes — Alliance member assigned by Park to build the Nether Gate outside the defensive perimeter. Park and Mark equip and encourage Hornes for the dangerous task 149.
