Background / History

The Traveling Mage once lived on the undivided Sky Island, before the arrival of unknown beings divided the land into Blocks and brought widespread chaos. He and the Black Mage were once acquainted, but became estranged after the disaster and the Black Mage's descent into a different path. 154 156

He traveled widely between Blocks, accumulating practical knowledge of magic, dragons, civilization advancement, and lost Sky Island history. His magic is incomplete compared with that of the past, as much knowledge and many spells were lost during the island's decline. 154 174

Before reaching Gu Yu's Floating Island, he assisted Yamamoto Rokuko and the Alliance. He helped produce a Firearm Crafting Table, enabling the crafting of firearms and ammunition, and provided clues regarding the Iai Sword's Muramasa path. 143

Alliance Assistance

The Traveling Mage first appears while aiding the Alliance. His knowledge allows Yamamoto Rokuko's group to create a Firearm Crafting Table and identify a possible Iai Sword evolution route. 143

Arrival at the Floating Island

He reaches Gu Yu's Block during the Sudden Change, expecting to help inexperienced newcomers. Instead, he finds a thriving Floating Island defended by extensive Redstone mechanisms and enormous TNT bombardments. His surprise deepens when he discovers the imprisoned Black Mage. 154

After meeting Gu Yu, he gives information freely about Sky Island's past, Evil Dragons, and the dangers of Small Block advancement. He is repeatedly shocked by Gu Yu's Redstone Cannon, mythical structures, and the Architect's loyalty. 155 156 159 160

End Expedition

Though unable to explain how to locate the Ender Dragon, the Traveling Mage chooses to accompany Gu Yu once the Ender Eye leads the way. He witnesses Gu Yu's methods for defeating the Ender Dragon, retrieving its egg, entering the Warp Gate, and obtaining the Elytra. 158 161 173 174 175

Dragon Hunt and Service Offer

Despite learning that Gu Yu's defeat of the Ender Dragon prematurely triggered the Dragon Hunt, the Traveling Mage refuses to abandon the Floating Island. He offers defensive support during the battle and is awestruck when Gu Yu defeats two dragons and drives away a third. He then asks to join Gu Yu's Block as a servant, believing Gu Yu represents Sky Island's hope. 179 190 191

Dragon Domain Exploration

The Traveling Mage continues to guide Gu Yu through the Sky Island's inner space and Dragon territories. Gu Yu later gives him a Dragon Egg, fulfilling the mage's long-held wish to raise a dragon. 208 211
