Exchanging intelligence
"Why are you being tracked by Nick Fury? Is there some kind of connection between you and him?" A hint of confusion flashed in Kara's eyes. According to Carol, she had returned from space, so why was she being targeted by Nick Fury?
"Nick Fury and I are old acquaintances. When I came back this time, I found no one at home, so I went to him and asked him to help me find you. But I never expected..." Carol shook her head and briefly recounted her story with Nick Fury with a somewhat wistful expression.
Fifteen years have passed, and the Earth has undergone tremendous changes. Even having witnessed the prosperity of various civilizations in the universe, Carol has to admit that the Earth's development in these fifteen years has been quite rapid.
But it's not just things that have changed so much; the phrase "things are as they were, but people are not" is far from sufficient to describe Carol's feelings at this moment.
"It seems he's gotten used to it..." After hearing Carol's account, Clark shook his head. After several encounters and observations, Clark felt that Nick Fury was probably the kind of person who was very suspicious.
Perhaps in Nick Fury's mind, Carol was indeed different from others, but it was also quite normal for Nick Fury to subconsciously listen to Carol's phone due to habits formed over the past ten years.
After all, the phone was originally given to Carol by Nick Fury, and the methods set up on it should have existed long before. It wasn't specifically targeted at Carol, but the final result was the same.
"Still no more information about Alex?" What Clark didn't know was that the listening device was indeed present in the phone, but the reason Nick Fury couldn't resist using listening methods was because there was very little information about Alex, and Coulson's side hadn't been able to find out where Alex was currently living.
This information was concealed by Mr. Skull, who was previously disguised as Martian Manhunter. It seems the concealment was quite effective, leaving Nick Fury, who originally intended to get closer to Alex's family, unable to find a way to do so.
But Nick Fury couldn't very well send someone directly to the A.R.G.U.S.'s DEO to contact Alex, could he? That was someone else's territory, and Nick Fury wasn't that arrogant.
Therefore, while Nick Fury continued to have Coulson investigate more information about Alex to see if he could find any clues, he also used surveillance methods to look for Spider Web.
Nick Fury's attitude towards Carol was indeed different. He didn't see Carol as a threat; he simply wanted to use Alex and the others to further strengthen his relationship with Carol. After all, they hadn't seen each other for over a decade, and Nick Fury was worried that their relationship might have become strained...
"So, you're currently being watched by the authorities?" On the Savage Island, Carol recalled what Nick Fury had told her earlier.
If it were someone unrelated, Carol would naturally help deal with the Superman and Saiyan that Nick Fury mentioned. But now, not only does Clark not seem like a bad Superman, but Clark is also Carol's sister Kara's cousin. Carol would never actually help Nick Fury deal with Clark.
If Carole hadn't known that Nick Fury was eavesdropping on her, Carol might have tried to persuade Clark to stop. But after learning about it, Carol just wanted to understand the situation.
"It's not so much that we're being watched by the authorities, but mainly Nick Fury and his group think that we should be their pawns, at their beck and call..." Because of his X-Ray Vision, Clark knew significantly more information than Robet, so he told Carol about some of their dealings with Nick Fury and even the authorities.
In Clark's view, since Carol is Kara's sister, they are family. There's no need to hide things from Carol that Alex already knows, otherwise it would be bad if misunderstandings arose due to inconsistent information.
"So, you're Saiyan?" After a long pause, Carol looked at Robet with some surprise and asked, having heard Clark's explanation.
"Yes, I can Transformation Technique, so it's a bit different..." Robet, briefly demonstrating her ability to Carol. Since Clark had already told her, there was no need to hide it anymore.
"You're Skrull?!" However, to Robet's surprise, when he saw his changed appearance, Carol's eyes widened instantly, and she even looked at Robet with a somewhat flustered expression and asked.
"Skrull? What are those?" Robet's eyes flashed with confusion as he looked at the bewildered Carol and said, "I'm Saiyan, not Skrull..."
"It seems that's not true. Your transformation method is different from theirs..." Carol nodded after carefully examining it. As someone who had been in contact with the Skrull for more than ten years, Carol was quite familiar with the Skrull ' abilities. She noticed that Robet's Transformation Technique was different from the Skrull' transformation in essence; at least the transformation process was completely different.
"So, you're Superman, you're Saiyan, you two are Kryptonian, you're Clark's girlfriend, and you have superpowers..." After identifying Robet's Transformation Technique, Carol muttered to herself, looking at the people around her. Finally, she fixed her gaze on Alex, the meaning clear: why are both families so extraordinary this generation, but Alex has fallen so low?
Of course, Carol was just teasing her sister. After not coming back for so many years, she had to crack a joke to get closer to her.
"Hmph! If it weren't for that accident, I wouldn't be ranked lower than Nick Fury, whom you know!" Alex retorted defiantly at Carol's teasing gaze, but even if the DEO hadn't been absorbed by the A.R.G.U.S., it would still be two Section 13 behind S.H.I.E.L.D....
"Then you'd better work harder. If you really had Nick Fury's status, those two wouldn't be being targeted..." Carol shook her head, looking at Clark and Robet with a slightly serious expression. "Nick Fury wanted me to help deal with you guys before, but now it seems... However, you really need to keep a low profile a bit. After all, being constantly watched by them isn't pleasant, is it?"
"I don't go out much, and I usually only deal with the really tough guys. Clark goes out a lot, but he's fast, so he usually won't be caught by the authorities on the spot..." Robet understood what Carol meant. He shook his head and said softly, "Besides, even if we are eventually discovered, we can transfer them here. Jor-El is modifying this Subspace, and then only we will be able to enter."
"Just keep your plans in mind." Carol didn't press for more details, only offering a reminder that she had only just returned and wouldn't be staying on Earth forever. Her family's livelihood and safety still depended on Clark and Robet.
To be honest, Carol was also a little disappointed. She hadn't expected so many unexpected things to happen this time she returned. Fortunately, things were back on track with the Skrull, and she would have many more opportunities to come back in the future. However, Carol didn't know how to handle things with Nick Fury.
"You came back from the universe. How many powerful beings are there in the universe?" Robet asked Carol expectantly when he saw that Carol no longer brought up the topic.
Robet didn't fully understand Earth, but that didn't diminish Robet yearning for the universe. After all, he could sense that Carol was very powerful, probably stronger than both himself and Kara. Therefore, Robet thought that Carol must have encountered many powerful beings in the universe.
"There are indeed many powerful beings in the universe..." Hearing Robet's words, Carol didn't try to hide anything, but the information she knew wasn't actually that much, because the universe was just too vast, and Carol hadn't been challenging powerful beings everywhere in all her years in the universe.
Therefore, Carol simply recounted a few powerful forces in the universe, as well as some smaller groups and strong individuals.
However, as Carol spoke, her expression gradually became strange as she looked at Clark and Kara. After hesitating for a moment, she frowned slightly and said, "I've heard about Krypton in the universe, and there seems to be a Krypton team there, but they use what appears to be technological power, unlike you who possess such formidable physical strength..."
Although they hadn't actually fought, Carol could vaguely sense Clark and Kara's strength, especially since Kara and Clark had flown right up to her, which was completely different from the Kryptonian team she had heard about before.
"Kryptonian?!" Clark and Kara looked at Carol in surprise, and even Jor-El looked over in surprise, after all, according to the information from before, Kryptonian should have been extinct except for Clark and Kara.
"Yes, they're a Kryptonian team, a group of bounty hunters or mercenaries, and they're quite strong..." Carol nodded, giving a brief introduction, as they had dealt with each other before when accepting missions.
"Do you know their names?" Before Clark and Kara could speak, Jor-El asked first, already having a vague guess in his mind.
"I heard the leader is called General Zod?" Carol thought for a moment, then remembered General Zod's name and said.
"Zod isn't dead?!" Kara and Clark exchanged a surprised glance, finding it hard to accept the news. After all, so many Kryptonian died when Krypton Devastation; why was the heinous General Zod still alive?
However, Clark quickly came to his senses. General Zod was not dead, but his biological father Jor-El, was dead, leaving only the artificial intelligence in front of him...
"Sigh... Kal, the grudges of the previous generation don't really need to spill over into the next generation..." Jor-El sighed softly upon seeing Clark's expression, and said in a low voice, "Besides, you are the only Kryptonian left in the universe!"
"But are there things I can really avoid just by letting go?" Clark shook his head, looking at Jor-El earnestly, and asked, "And are there things that are really so easy to let go of?"
Clark glanced at Robet as he spoke. As Robet grew older, he killed fewer people than before, but that wasn't because Robet had changed his nature. Rather, it was because few of Robet's current opponents could be considered human.
While Clark, influenced by Robet, still became Superman and didn't exhibit any particularly cruel or violent side, he didn't see himself as a god without desires. He was just a human being, and when faced with the murder of his father, Clark didn't believe he should let General Zod go, even though Zod was one of the few Kryptonian left in the universe.
"Sigh! If he doesn't come to Earth to find you, then don't go looking for him in space!" Seeing Clark's resolute attitude, Jor-El finally had no choice but to relent. However, Jor-El knew that if General Zod knew about Clark, he would definitely come to Earth, since the Codex was still inside Clark's body.
"It seems the universe is quite amazing!" Robet said with some emotion, recalling Carol's description earlier. Even though Carol's description only covered a part of the universe, it still made Robet feel a sense of longing.
"Hey! You're not going to come along to space, are you?" Kara tugged at Robet's clothes warily, her brows furrowed, and asked with some concern.
"Don't worry, things on Earth haven't been resolved yet, how could I leave so easily? Besides, I don't currently have the ability to survive in space for an extended period, so I won't be going for the time being..." Robet smiled and shook his head, speaking softly.
"What haven't you resolved? I think you're just... never mind!" Kara glared angrily at Robet after hearing Robet words, then sighed dejectedly and transmitted her voice, "I know you've been accommodating me for a long time. If you want to go see her, go ahead, you don't need to tell me, but there's one condition: you're not allowed to bring her in front of me!"
"Don't think about these things, I'll stay with you!" Robet breathed a slight sigh of relief, but his expression remained unchanged as he pulled Kara into his arms and whispered.
"Tsk tsk tsk, there are still people here!" Alex exclaimed sourly when she saw Robet and Kara's appearance. She felt she couldn't live like this anymore!
"Hehe, if you're envious, go find one yourself!" Kara regained her composure and stuck out her tongue at Alex.
"Hmph! It's not like I'm the only one single, there's Carol too!" Alex said, looking at Carol with some resentment. "Carol, you won't disappoint me, will you?"
"Don't worry, it won't happen!" Carol smiled and shook her head, saying softly.
